One way to tell whether a video is fake or not is by looking for tell tale signs. Some of these signs won't appear until later on, when the YouTube video hits a number of views and gets taken down by the user.
This new video comes from Motley, MN where a woman and her cousin was driving to their cabin on a dirt road. While taping their trip and filming "the fall colors," they spotted a "huge, hairy, man-like thing" running across the road in front of their car. Seconds later, we can hear what sounds like laughter coming from the passenger in the car.
Here are a few things to watch out for when you're looking for a hoax or a prank that was possibly intended for friends to share with each other:
- Many have pointed out that fake Bigfoot videos tend to show the Bigfoot moving from left-to-right. (We see this in a number inconclusive videos, see Ketchikan Alaskan Bigfoot footage). We're not sure why this is the case, but we rarely see a Bigfoot moving away from camera or towards the camera.
- Once the video receives a certain number of views, and questions begin to pile up, this is when the user pulls the video from YouTube. We saw this happened with the Chris Deblinka Lincoln, Nebraska Bigfoot video.
- Listen for giggling or laughing. This doesn't tell us much, but it does arouse our suspicion a bit when we hear someone giggling in the background.
- Look for blurriness and shakiness of the video. This should be the first to thing look for, but then again, the Patterson footage was extremely shaky. Experts had to stabilized the video enough to make it decent to view.
- Also look for exclamation marks at the end of the title: "Sasquatch sighting in Motley, MN!" This usually means the user is seeking attention, or genuinely excited. Once you factor in all the signs above, you will find out what was really meant by the exclamation mark in the title.
There isn't a foolproof way of detecting fake videos, but generally when your intuition tells you it's fake, it probably is.
I get the impression that a joke was played.The "Bigfoot" strides were quite short as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat would also help is Youtube getting rid of the mental defects like "Butchykid". Considering 100 videos show the same thing and appeals to those who will likely never learn to read it is clear they are there to annoy people looking for videos.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you Shawn on one thing- the shakiness element- realistically thing footage that is not hoaxed would come from someone is is scared and shaking and from a cell phone.
My biggest clue is when footage is so that a camera was positioned perfectly to catch something in an area- the type where a guy is taping a meadow or road for no reason and boom you see a figure dart across or the guy taking video of his kid with the kid not in the center but to the left and then a creature is glimpsed in the right.
I think we will start to see alot of better footage when cameras advance to a certain stage and can clearly pick up things that are a blur to the human eye. It is clear by now that these creature hide almost 100% of the time when people are in the area. They will travel at night and its almost impossible to get real footage.
Experienced trackers have shown they can often track one- and then you get a glimpse of something vague in the distance. This footage is always likely the best but almost always inconclusive. When the current most advanced camera technology becomes common in cell phones and cam corders we will see alot better evidence.

It's sad, but some people would take that seriously. It's amusing to see how many ways people can set up a really bad hoax. I wish someone with JJ Abrams talents decided to do one. Then, I'd totally enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteIn the 1950's a massive flood in this area swept away a barn and other structures. Eventually the barn was washed to a short cliff where it stayed until it fell with half left at the top and the other have falling but landing in a way that you now had half a barn but with four walls with the back of the cliff acting as a wall. There were no roads into the gully area so to get to that you had to hike or propel down the cliff. Many believe a family of Bigfoot set up a den in the part that was left. The stories are deer and chicken remains would be find around the area picked clean of meat and there were so many footprints you could not see them because they overlapped so much.
ReplyDeleteThe owner of the land used to let anyone hunt there but then quickly stopped. He would never say anything about it and said none of the stories were true. A friend told me that one of his close friends had said he wanted it kept a secret because the things were not friendly and he thought if you went to look you were not coming back. He was a rancher and kept cattle and had to borrow some cash from this friend because he found three milk cows mutilated with two calf missing. He found one of the calfs later and he said it looked like it was butchered with a sharp knife. This guy was torn on telling people and only did after the owner had passed- he had the check, the receipt on the cattle reimbursement-the government would pay a rancher at this time for untimely cattle deaths and an old black and white photo of the barn with all these hand painted "Danger" signs on the trees.
5 people went missing during this time and were never found. However this was at times waters were high and someone fishing could get swept away. You did not find abandoned cars and in all the cases vehicles were missing so nobody worried much about this. In the early 1970's I was working for the county during summer vacation. After another flood a whole gully area was cleared and the remains of a 1954 Ford were found- no body and some said this belonged to one of the missing people- while others say everyone had one of those trucks and it could have belonged to anyone. It did not stall there and was pushed off the road above or went off because of an accident- but with no body most said it was just evidence of a common practice of ditching old cars in ditches and lakes/ponds. I would not even think about this except for the fact the reason we got to see the barn was because human remains were found at most a quarter mile from the barn- not bodies but random bones. They were clearing a part of the area and found them and we had to go out and retrieve them- when we were checking the surrounding areas we found it actually found its remains- the wind and weather did not leave much and it looked like it had been burned many years before but we did find a few boards and carvings in the cliff base that looked native american. Others may tell the story with more details but my version includes only what I am confident is fact.
There have been many sightings in the area and many people absolutely refuse to talk about it. Some who do get no support- one guy had a good story but the rest in his hunting party said what they saw was a bear and that was it- the refused to elaborate but the one who had talked alot went back and made a plaster cast.
The stories are well known and the child in the video heard them. He was not giggling but became hysterical he was so afraid. His family assurred him that it was just a story and he had nothing to fear. The family came to my house soon after this was taken because he was so upset and begging to be brought hear because of a number of rifles on display in my den.

and they have the camera pointed at the window frame and soon as the get on the strait away, camera is then pointed to the center of the road and low and behold ! a f'n bigfoot !!

I love how all you serious Bigfoot believers get all pissed off at BUTCHY KID'S VIDEOS even when he places them in the COMEDY category on Youtube . I would honestly be more pissed off at all the assholes who make REAL HOXES , Seriously shows like FINDING BIGFOOT and MONSTER QUEST are a complete embarrassment and a total JOKE . Until you guys find real proof that these creatures exist maybe you should get a sense of humor and laugh once in a while ... . BUTCHY KID RULES !
