Listen: Dr. Melba Ketchum's Interview With George Knapp on Bigfoot DNA, February 18 2013

Here's Dr. Melba Ketchum's first interview since the publication of her Bigfoot DNA study. In this interview, she reveals the turmoil of releasing her paper and suggest that Bigfoot DNA paper is just the beginning, and she's looking for more funding to protect the Sasquatch people.

George Knapp threw a few hardball questions at her, such as asking her about Justin Smeja's "Bigfoot" steak. Ketchum stated to Knapp that the sample she received from Smeja was a different color (with no undercoat, white hair) than what is circulating the internet -- probably suggesting that the sample used in her study is different than the one tested independently by Tyler Huggins and Bart Cutino, which the DNA results were verified and matched to bear.

Ketchum took questions from callers and mentioned ground breaking Bigfoot photographs and videos that's probably locked up in a secret vault somewhere. Why they don't just skip the DNA paper and just show the images? We have no idea.

All this and more in the first half of Coast to Coast AM with George Knapp below:

Date: 02-17-13
Host: George Knapp
Guests: Dr. Melba S. Ketchum, Lynne D. Kitei M.D.

In the first half, Dr. Melba S. Ketchum joined George Knapp to discuss the official release of her DNA analysis of possible Bigfoot hair samples. Her publication titled "Novel North American Hominin" is available for paid download through the DeNovo Journal. Ketchum's findings were based on the analysis of 111 samples of blood, tissue, hair, and related materials sent in to her lab by Sasquatch researchers and eyewitnesses. Mitochondrial DNA testing revealed that the hair was human in origin, yet a forensic hair specialist examined the specimens and declared them to be novel-- "it was not human hair and didn't match any of his animal knowns it was tested against," he told her.

When it came to testing the nuclear DNA of the samples "we started getting really strange results," she said, "with weird looking bands that were all different sizes." One testing facility reported that the sequences didn't match anything in the GenBank database. Ketchum has concluded that the creatures are either derived from humans and mutated excessively, or some type of hybrid. Further, she believes them to be a fairly modern species, paralleling humans in the last 13,000 years. She also suggested that there were some 16 different subtypes of Bigfoot, typically associated with different regions. For more, check out the recap of her 12/23/12 show appearance.

  4. Ketchum's only escape on committing fraud is to say Smeja switched samples to avoid jailtime.

  5. The implication is that Smeja gave Cutino coyote, and the Canadian Lab says that it was a bear, in order to not get the human's too worked up about there may be another population of people that are inhabiting this planet. Double fraud.

  7. i havent heard her make any unbelievable claims, no angel dna no birthing stations nothing other than a tempered approach based on what she believes her study has indicated.(habituation situations aside, but that said habituation sites did not originate with ketchum) and those indications seem to fit rather nicely with a great deal of other circumstantial evidence, everything from composite sketches, witness testimony and historical accounts and fossils. the only relatively outrageous claim seems to be the one that contradicts the established community which is that it isnt an ape.

    1. The biggest dodge in the whole interview comes at 37:40 when (too-clever-by-half) Melba Ketchum pulls out a clumsy false equivalency.

She makes the absurd and knowingly false statement that clear, modern HD video of the study subjects would do nothing to advance her cause. Really? Her trick is that she usually only talks about the fantastic quality of their footage.

Here, however she cites the PGF footage: If they don't believe that, they won't believe the HD stuff, right?

Think about what she claims she could deliver- but won't; even as a last resort, after laboring, saint-like for years; against all odds, against science itself, against the establishment, against the world!! Poor Melba, right?

Why won't she deliver? Because she's got nothing and the inept George Knapp just takes it all in as gospel.

      Delete
    2. What do you mean, "she's got nothing"?? What she has done is sequenced THREE WHOLE GENOMES. This has never been done before and it's what the bigfoot community has been crying out for for years!! It's painfully obvious that folks who comment, like many of the above posters, know very, very little about DNA.

    3. Yeah just by rambling that long post 2:37 reveals himself as a troll and anti bigfoot. Fact is, she did great in this interview and the trolls clutch at straws as usual.

  12. Boy she sounds like a kook on here. Especially when she is talking about the hybrid Sasquatch/human that could talk to animals!!!! LOL! How does she expect to be taken seriously when she is talking about those kind of stories.

    1. Oh I only pickup on the most glaring errors and the reality is I also criticise supporters of Ketchum and Ketchum herself, it's difficult sometimes understanding some peoples total disregard for facts this is why there is so much polarisation involved in this unfolding saga.

To be honest I prefer to focus on the core issue which is the genome itself, what exactly is being replicated in the nuDNA, alledgedly the gene sequencer representatives are sure that if any contamination was present in the samples then it would reflect in the quality numbers and yet single strand dna anomalies are not human or animal...or is it.

    2. Anon 335.

If the footer community didn't create this polarizing nonsensical debate. They would have nothing to talk about.

I mean..what gets more clicks...an actual scientific paper that presents data and facts...or a bunch of crazy unbelievable rumors to perpetuate as fact.

It is much more entertaining to attack the ppl involve rather than focus on the paper.

    3. Obviously it's mostly idiots within the bigfoot community causing all the stir many of them government plants, they want bigfoot to be a certain thing in the public's mind (monster ape) they don't like the truth now coming out.

      Delete
  15. When this independent review is finished I suspect her work will be shown to be thorough. Given the blind testing by other highly reputable research and forensic labs it is difficult to believe that they all got it wrong over many samples. I look forward to seeing the data up in Genbank so the best of the best can analyse the sequences. The more evidence there is in the public domain, the less the skeptics will have to sustain their biased and ignorant opinions.

For her comment about about video, she is correct. Videos means little in the scheme of things as there will always be claims of hoaxes, but you can't fake DNA. That was her point. Mind you I would like to see what they look like in HD.

    So far - Ketchum 1, Trolls 0
