    6. LOL just LOL! Comparing bigfoot to the giant squid is hilarious.

Did you know that remainds of giant squids washed up on beaches before a true live specimen was ever found? And I'm not talking about some weird maybe it's real/maybe it's not real stuff like bigfoot tracks or tiny bits of fur. Huge tentacles and remains inside whales.

But somehow, despite an enormous ocean which makes up the vast bulk of the earth, we were able to obtain an actual giant squid. Sasquatch? Not so much.

There are clearly only two possibilities:

      1. Sasquatch doesn't exit

      2. Sasquatch has paranormal abilities that prevent its capture (cloaking, teleportation, mindspeak, etc.)

    7. After centuries of legends and myths, in the 1870s, the scepticism for giant squids stopped as several carcasses were beached in Labrador and Newfoundland, but next to nothing had been documented until 2004 when a living one was documented, until then many scientists were returning sceptical of its existence. Interestingly, the same frequency of documented remains for 7-7.5 foot humans was documented in the late 1800's. In the time that is took to recover a giant squid specimen again in the 20th century, we have 50 years of research into relict hominids (comparatively until a living squid specimen was located) that has yielded every source of evidence short of type specimen.

*We have the same scientific documentation of relict hominids and giant squid reports and remains being found in the 1800 century.
*The next time we hear of a stranding of giant squid was in the 1960's when guess what? We have the Patterson Gimlin footage!
*We then have to wait until 2004 until a living example of giant squid is documented, to which time we have 50 years of physical, biological, video and audio evidence pointing to the existence of a bipedal primate that is twice the size of normal human primates; a far greater frequency of evidence than the giant squid to that point.

Sorry, Stuey... Although reports continued to occur sporadically throughout the world after the 1870's, none had been as frequent as those at Newfoundland and New Zealand in the 1960's. Might I add that there was a hominid skull anthropological paper devised in 1967 regarding the humboldt skull? It is not known why giant squid become stranded on shore, but it may be because the distribution of deep, cold water where squid live is temporarily altered. Many scientists who have studied squid mass strandings believe they are cyclical and predictable. The length of time between strandings is not known, but was proposed to be 90 years by Architeuthis specialist Frederick Aldrich. Aldrich used this value to correctly predict a relatively small stranding that occurred between 1964 and 1966 in line with the previous strandings the century prior.

Up until 2004, the giant squid was considered a cryptid species. Like many scientists who don't doubt their existence, it's just a challenge to find one in its natural environment... For your rhetorical "paranormal world", that sure does fit precisely with the frequency of data we have for relict hominids.

Now shut up and sit down.

    9. On Iktomi, typing ten paragraphs in anger because there's still no sign of his magic monkey man. I see your comments about giant skeletons and raise you Stanford history professor Adrienne Mayor, one of the world's foremost exports on North American folklore:". Adrienne Mayor writes about the Si-Te-Cah in her book, Legends of the First Americans.[3] She suggests that the 'giant' interpretation of the skeletons from Lovelock Cave and other dry caves in Nevada was started by entrepreneurs setting up tourist displays and that the skeletons themselves were of normal size. However, about a hundred miles north of Lovelock there are plentiful fossils of mammoths and cave bears, and their large limb bones could easily be thought to be those of giants by an untrained observer. She also discusses the reddish hair, pointing out that hair pigment is not stable after death and that various factors such as temperature, soil, etc. can turn ancient very dark hair rusty red or orange. Another explanation for the 'giant' interpretation of the skeletons may also come from the fact that some of the first remains unearthed by the guano miners in 1911-12 were described as “giant"." Are you really going to try to keep up your charade of being some kind of intellectual authority on the scientific method, when so many of your claims rest on the idea that there is a conspiracy among scientists to avoid Sasquatch in the face of what you seem to believe is overwhelming evidence? Is that really your conjecture?

      Delete
    10. ^LOL anon you are wasting your time with this. Facts? Iktomi don't need no stinkin' FACTS!

This is the part where he comes in and says that there is some conspriacy (probably by a cabal of scientists and freemasons) to keep knowledge of these giant remains hidden.

So much for science! Keep the conspiracy theories coming!

    11. The tradition among the Paiute Indians, being that some very tall, reddish haired tribe, occasionally cannibalistic, once dwelt in the area. This being consistent with every other tribe in North America that have cannibalistic Giants intertwined in there Sasquatch legends. This matches the reports of the red headed male mummy (described as both 6 ft 6 and 7 ft, supporting evidence being the skull in the anthropological paper up top) pulled out of the central portion of the cave in 1911 by James Hart, David Pugh, and Lawrence W. Crehore. The Paiutes have many traditions of the “Pahi-zoho” tall, hairy giants who would grab children in baskets, and eat them. The “Pahi Zoho” also has the name “Tso ‘apittse”, an ogre of the same class in Paiute folk lore, described as a monster who hunts down women, cuts them up, and eats them. Princess Sarah Winnemucca, daughter of the chief of the Paiutes in 1883 described the tradition among her people, that these red headed people were both cannibals and lived in caves. She called them “barbarians” and they would set traps for women, and children, and carry them off. These Otamid, Paleo types sort of do resemble a cross between Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal man. Below is a report from the Paiute elders, that the tribe was also called “Numa Ticutta” People eaters... And they had red hair “all over their bodies”;

      https://thedavisreport.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/red-haired-giants.jpg source 2: http://www.lovelockpaiutetribe.com/History.html

Eric Johns offered an example from 1911, where researchers named Pugh and Hart had found the remains of large, red haired humans at Sunset Cave close to Lovelock, Nevada. The remains found there were over seven feet tall, and some of the remains were shipped to the Smithsonian Institute by L.L. Loud, an archaeologist with the University of California, one year later.”These notes are still on digital file at the Hearst Museum of Anthropology,” Johns shared, “listed under reference number 544, An Anthropological Expedition of 1913.

"A hair sample from Spirit Cave Man was analyzed by Craig Lahren, then of the Office of the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office. In his report Lahren (1997:2) states, “… density and distribution of the pigment granules in your sample (2064) is typical of a Caucasian individual” and that the “… pigment granules in your sample (2064) are brown.” The report also states that the hair “… has a moderate shaft diameter with minimal variation, and an oval cross-sectional shape. All of these observations are consistent with hair derived from the head or more specifically the scalp of a Caucasian individual.”

A hair sample was also analyzed by Joseph DiZinno of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratories, who observed “…numerous dark reddish-brown, Asian origin head hairs with broken roots, broken tips and much surface debris” (DiZinno 1997:1).

Goodman and Martin note (1999:4) “we now judge the hair to be medium to dark brown and straight. In other words, the hair is exactly the color and form [sic that] is most common in Northern Asian or a Native American.” The hair studies performed to date do not allow the assignment of Spirit Cave Man to an affiliation with a particular tribe."

Hope that hurts... I mean, helps!

... And it would grace any scientific journal today. If you want reputable sources of journals, how about none other than the anthropological elite for the past couple of hundred years, the Smithsonian? Maybe Scientific American?

As far as science journals of today go... Why do you invest so much faith in them when it's such a faulty process? Here is a paper Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, Royal Society of Medicine Press
      Peer review: a flawed process at the heart of science and journals by Richard Smith;
      "Conclusion
So peer review is a flawed process, full of easily identified defects with little evidence that it works. Nevertheless, it is likely to remain central to science and journals because there is no obvious alternative, and scientists and editors have a continuing belief in peer review. How odd that science should be rooted in belief."

You've got to do better than this. Don't pretend that evidence is important and then resort to bizarre conspiracy theories about why such important archaeological finds would go ignored. You want me to buy into a conspiracy theory view, when the mainstream scientific consensus is that these weren't giants, and the "lovelock skulls" were either a myth designed to bring in tourism or the misidentified bones of other creatures like mammoths. I know you want to bleeve really badly, but are you really at conspiracy theory levels now? Why are all your references unsourced crypto blogs with zero scientific authority?

    17. Um... Your tourism nonsense got blown out of the ball park? Always listen to the oral histories of the people living there for thousands of years, and then the physicial evidence. A hominid skull is not a mammoth bone.

"In the monuments of antiquity found throughout North America, in camp and village sites, graves, mounds, ruins, and scattered works of art, the origin and development of art in savage and barbaric life may be satisfactorily studied. Incidentally, too, hints of customs may be discovered, but outside of this, the discoveries made have often been illegitimately used, especially for the purpose of connecting the tribes of North America with peoples or so-called races of antiquity in other portions of the world. A brief review of some conclusions that must be accepted in the present status of the science will exhibit the futility of these attempts."
      - J W Powell
      http://www.scienceviews.com/lostcivilizations/powelldoctrine.html
The discovery of human antiquity was a major achievement of science in the middle of the 19th century, and the foundation of scientific paleoanthropology. The antiquity of man, human antiquity, or in simpler language the age of the human race, are names given to the series of scientific debates it involved, which with modifications continue in the 21st century. These debates have clarified and given scientific evidence, from a number of disciplines, towards solving the basic question of dating the first human being. A key date was the 1859 re-evaluation of archaeological evidence that had been published 12 years earlier by Boucher de Perthes. It was then widely accepted, as validating the suggestion that man was much older than previously been believed, for example than the 6,000 years implied by some traditional chronologies. In 1863 T. H. Huxley argued that man was an evolved species; and in 1864 Alfred Russel Wallace combined natural selection with the issue of antiquity. The arguments from science for what was then called the "great antiquity of man" became convincing to most scientists, over the following decade. The separate debate on the antiquity of man had in effect merged into the larger one on evolution, being simply a chronological aspect. One of the cornerstones of the Smithsonian Institute was the theory of evolution/natural selection, and that in a nutshell says we keep getting bigger and smarter over time. This means that you can't be having 7-8 foot giant skeletons being found everywhere over the US in ellaborate mound systems and argue the case.

So you see, it's not a conspiracy if you have written confirmation from the anthropological authority of the day that remains that don't fit the paradigm will not be endorsed. Would you now like me to proceed to post you the actual Bureaus by the Smithsonian?

    20. So your argument is that Science journals are a faulty process. And that a study that you admit has been shelved has greater merit because it has not been reviewed? But isn't that how this all works though Iktomi? You make a claim that you found a giant red head man in a cave you present your findings over to other Scientists to review and critic your evidence. Of course there's flaws and bias. Thats present in anything where humans are involved. But you don't think your presentation of this "shelved" study is flawed and biased as well? We have an actual carcass confirmed and reviewed and authenticated to be a giant squid. And in response you put forth an unsubstantiated article about a giant skull which has never been authenticated and you think they are scientific equals? Furthermore if scientific reviews are so flawed and biased why do you present the very few there are on Sasquatch? So you pick and choose when and where science is applied and its effectiveness where it is convenient for you. Biased for sure I'd say.

9:30... No, my argument is that reliable scientific sources have documented very large human skeletal remains. I merely stated as an after thought that modern science journals are part of a flawed process and someone so "impartial" to the scientific method as yourself, or someone genuinely sceptical, wouldn't rely on such before anything is understood to be genuine. 25. "So sorry, but those reports don’t cut it. First of all, the reason that reports of giants generally ended around 1920 is that professional archaeology started around then as a discipline. Before then, the “excavators,” more appropriately called looters, who dug up mounds and reported to the Bureau lacked academic training and were totally untrustworthy either to measure skeletons (which is no easy task) or to infer living height from those skeletons. Nor could they be trusted to report accurately or even truthfully, since they often were making money from the sale or display of what they unearthed. Powell was constantly riding herd on what he knew was malarkey.

That was added to the technical problem that many “skeletons” in the mounds were not from single individuals, as the Indians most often had complex reburial and group burial practices. That is, it was typical practice to bury or otherwise store the bones of the deceased for months or years before they were retrieved and then reburied in a mound or mass grave. Interpreting the result is not easy even for modern archaeologists and often requires genetic testing for correct analysis."

    29. So let me get this straight.

The Smithsonian says bigfoot doesn't exist, this is evidence that they just don't know what they are talking about.

Studies that are dismissed as scientifically unsound in their approach to studying bigfoot/giant skeletons etc, by being dismissed this is evidence of a conspiracy to keep the "truth" hidden?

Is your tinfoil hat cutting off blood flow to your brain?

    31. It's pretty simple... The scientists studying the documented remains, both in the skull paper up top and the Smithsonian Bureaus, didn't have Sasquatch in mind when they were analysing the remains. Why would they? This is before any pop culture about the topic.

Sasquatch are a large, hairy, ancient human... And that's what the documented remains indicate. Not even enough enthusiasts are aware of this, what chance have Smithsonian representatives who aren't even aware of what's in their facilities?

    35. Iktomi's claim of "archeologists certainly didn't have these creatures in mind" is true and further exposes his incompetence. Absolutely correct that they never once implied they were Sasquatch. They implied they were giant humans which was all the rage at the time due to archeologists and the press all over tampering and manipulating the findings to reinforce a race of giants that lived in the land due to biblical mentions as such. Thats why most attempts to track down these remains and stories ends up in futility because most remains that were shipped back were logged in under normal circumstances because they were normal native american remains. And all others were somehow "lost in transit" to the respective universities they were going to for study. In short people in this time period wanted giants to reinforce their faith, and the press and some archeologists obliged. What Iktomi makes no mention of is other outrageous claims of these giants having ram horns, double sets of teeth, and other obvious biblical references. And another contradiction emerges! Stories of the Wildman were abound in this time period as well. Daniel Boone allegedly killed a Yahoo. We've heard all the stories of Native American folklore which would have been rampant during this time period. I could go on and on all the stories of Wildmen and forest giants. But with all of this not a single newspaper article nor the Smithsonian directorate Iktomi so frequently brings up, none of them mention or suggest these bones belong to a "Wildman" or "Forest Giant"."Ancient Antiquity" doesn't translate into "Sasquatch" im afraid. Unless of course you are desperate for it to. Then it could mean anything. The majority of these remains were all found with normal sized artifacts. In fact no giants were ever recorded as being found with giant artifacts which seems kind of odd doesn't it? Yes, Iktomi will link you a few giant artifacts found, which were likely ceremonial in nature. But these were not found buried with the giants. So in short, show me giant remains found in North America verified and peer reviewed as an unknown primate. You can't. You have stories. A lot of stories. Stories attached to flimsy disputable evidence doesn't constitute Sasquatch or any unknown primate being real. Were there giants in North America? Undoubtedly, and there still are today. Doesn't make them an undiscovered primate. One can imagine an Iktomi of the future coming across the skull of a tall person with regressed neanderthal genes and marveling at the majestic ape that was buried there. Conspiracy theory bullshit and folklore. Your Smithsonian crap is widely dismissed outside a few authors with a clear history of Bigfoot bias trying to make a story out of something the rest of the world knows in nothing. Which is basically the story of your life Iktomi. Come back when you have giant bones scientifically verified as unknown primate and the U.S. recognizes as such that we have had undiscovered primates living here. You're conspiracy theories are a stretch, even as far as conspiracy theories go. ;)

It might be news to you, but the Smithsonian is sometimes referred to as "the nation's attic" for its holdings of 138 million items, the Institution's Washington, D.C., nucleus of nineteen museums, nine research centres, and zoo, many of them historical or architectural landmarks, is the largest such complex in the world. Additional facilities are located in Arizona, Maryland, New York City, Virginia, Panama and elsewhere, and 168 other museums are Smithsonian affiliates... After many of the bones may have been handed back over to Native Anericans in the Repatriation Act.. They could be anywhere.

Unfortunately, there are no reliable scienific sources that have documented horned skeletons, these would tend to appear in newspaper articles. This is why I've been very careful to choose only reliable sources, and what better source than the anthropological elite. Heck... Even sceptical PhD's like Andy White concur that 7-7.5 foot skeletons were exhumed at these times. I'm not sure if you understand the word "contradiction", but contemporary reports of wildmen in the US, whilst large human skeletons are being found by archaeologists, is not one. In fact, it does nothing but offer a consistent stream of anecdotes that support such skeletal finds. Furthermore... If someone is 7-7.5 feet tall, would you really expect a weapon or a tool deviating out of what one would expect from a 7-7.5 feet tall human of today? All these things have very obvious answers.

So you see, it's not a conspiracy if you have written confirmation from the anthropological authority of the day that remains that don't fit the paradigm will not be endorsed. I know you struggled to understand the 1800's academic conflict regarding ancient antiquity, but please don't project your literary shortcomings on literate people. 39. Donald... I see you're still having a meltdown about the usage of capitals in your name?

      (Oh dear!)

    40. So the conspiracy you're proposing is that Powell did not want people to try to connect Native American culture with any other part of the world? So you are taking the racist position that the cultural development of pre-Columbian Native Americans was the result of direct European influence! Good to know what an unapologetic racist you are!

      Delete
    41. Oh, is that what the change up in his name is all about? Hahahahahaha, thats rich! OMG this is why I come here, funny as hell!

    42. Aaaaaaaaargh, that old chestnut. Typical of an ISF loon who tries gaining a false moral highground when out of his depth (I say "his", because remarkably enough, few woman are that pseudocseptical). And this is proof that you are too stupid to understand what was posted regarding human antiquity. For example... The humbolt skull has archaic features that are only found in Paleo Peoples (Europeans).

      Delete
    43. I'd also enjoy some substance to some of the claims up top... For example;

"Thats why most attempts to track down these remains and stories ends up in futility because most remains that were shipped back were logged in under normal circumstances because they were normal native american remains."
... There is nothing, to substantiate these claims. And asking for substance would no doubt be futile.

"We've heard all the stories of Native American folklore which would have been rampant during this time period."
... This is actually grossly naive to the most basic of history books, as Native cultures at these times were being subjugated and prejudiced against, not romanticised.

"So in short, show me giant remains found in North America verified and peer reviewed as an unknown primate."
... No, you'll get exactly what Sasquatch are, large ancient human remains and like it. Demanding a preferred version of a specimen of creature you don't find credible is god awful logic.

    44. This racist loon is joining with the white supremacists who claim that Europeans are responsible for all of the pre-Columbian cultural development in the Americas. It took hundreds of years for racists to accept that the mound builders were Native Americans and not red haired European giants and now this pathetic racist wants to turn back the clock to 1850! Iktomi, just accept that Native Americans are as much human as you are and they created all of the cultural wonders!

    45. His obvious racism also explains why he believes that the escaped African slave Zana was "sub-human." Racists like Iktomi should be banned from this site for spewing such vile hate!

    46. Ha ha ha ha!! And tell me, how did the native Americans treat the Kennewick man? You are a slap in the face for people who suffer real racism daily. Go away you smelly boy... Nobody cares for the words you're trying to put in my mouth.

      Delete
    47. 2:30... (The same person) You've been asked maybe 20 times to provide an example of skull from Africa, that possesses the same ancient morphology as her son's skull, from the time that Zana was alive.

      Dirty little troll.

An absolutely false statement - it's existence has been well known since the mid 19th century.

    52. Joe, you were saying something about how Native Americans were not being romanticized during those times?

"The Last of the Mohicans has been James Fenimore Cooper's most popular work. It has continued as one of the most widely read novels throughout the world, and it has influenced popular opinion about American Indians and the frontier period of eastern American history. The romanticized images of the strong, fearless, and ever resourceful frontiersman (i.e., Natty Bumppo), as well as the stoic, wise, and noble "red man" (i.e., Chingachgook) were notions derived from Cooper's characterizations more than from anywhere else.[20] The phrase, "the last of the Mohicans," has come to represent the sole survivor of a noble race or type." No, Joe, my point was that Natives were indeed romanticized and it started mostly with The Last of the Mohicans.
