Strange Creature Caught on Trail Cam Near Colfax, CA

What is this? A camel's neck? A spider? If you guessed camel, there are no wild camels in California! According to Rural Mysteries, they've been trying to figure out what walked passed their game cam last January:

We still haven't identified this tall, upright mystery creature. The photo was taken with a Meadow Vista critter-cam in January 2014.

    1. So this photo was taken 10 months ago and they are just now releasing this trail camera shot now? Well they must not really want too know about what it was considering they have just asked for help 10 months later.

    3. Yes 823 that was a stupid comment that makes no sense. Often trail cameras are miles out and you only have access to them a few months out of the yea

  2. It's a bear hanging off a branch, probably trying to climb up and get their bait. The photo shows its stomach and thighs.

    1. I agree. This is a deer's neck. You can see the deer's chest or brisket area at the bottom and the throat leading up the neck. The fur is consistent with a deer. The camera is pointing toward the sky and the deer has simply walked over top the camera and tripped the IR laser. The camera probably fell off of a tree or was pulled off of the tree by a bear.

  8. Llama! Probably a young llama following a string of pack llamas, which is why it is not showing a harness and was more free to explore.

  14. strange that a trail cam would be pointed directly up at the sky...even stranger that it would wind up on a Bigfoot site dedicated to proving Bigfoot was a hoax.

    1. Deer hair shafts are hollow to allowing for warm air to be stored inside each shaft. This keeps the deer warm in cold weather. that isn't fuzz you are looking at.
