This Scream From Yosemite Sounds Like a Gorilla, I Swear
In case you've missed it last month, here's a breakdown of the Yosemite screams recorded by some campers last May. According to the witnesses, the screams were less than 100 yards away when they heard it. There's no doubt the screams are hair raising, and kinda reminds us of the Hockett Meadow screams.

DeleteCoyotes cannot be ruled out. They have that little coyote double pump before enough of the howls for them to be the most likely instigator.

ReplyDeleteThese recorded sounds are coyotes and/or a fox. I hunt both and hear this often. There is no doubt. There exist far more compelling recordings of alleged sasquatch vocalizations than these few captured bits of wild canines. There is no need for sasquatch enthusiasts to scrutinize recordings of known animals when there are several recordings of vocalizations that defy attribution to known species. The pursuit of species verification is hindered by the time devoted by amateurs considering the sounds of known animals. Many well intentioned researchers simply are not familiar with certain wildlife sounds. This hurts our cause. Please research on your own time (in the forest, or comparative online video/audio sources) to discern the differences between the sounds of known animals (despite how alien to the ear they may sound at first) from the sounds of things that actually defy identification.
ReplyDeleteIf you give a damn at all about the recognition of this species before it goes extinct, then please do not sensationalize that about which you are uninformed. Known animals make sounds that even the most experienced hunters have not heard with any frequency, and most hunters would agree that "coyotes and foxes can make some very strange sounds". This is a fact.
IF the argument were being tried in a court of law, there is enough circumstantial evidence to prove the existence of this species. People are sent to death row on far less circumstantial evidence. (Even though a conviction is only supposed to be possible in the absence of reasonable doubt).
There are several compelling examples of alleged sasquatch audio and to focus on recordings of obvious known animal sounds only hurts our collective research and demonstrates to all who monitor us that we "don't know our asses from a 'yote in the ground".
