This alleged Bigfoot was caught on tape chasing a park visitor. An anonymous film producer released the footage back in 2006. Here's a breakdown of it from YouTube user ThinkThunker.

This story was circulating the internet way back in 2004, or maybe as far back as 1999. Back when everybody was on 56k dial-up modems and a "Facebook" was just a regular book with directory listing of names and headshots. This story was so disturbing and so shocking that nobody believed it at the time. It was the Robert Lindsay " Bear Hunter: Two Bigfoots Shot and DNA Samples Taken " story of the time. And like Robert's Bear Hunter story , this witness didn't have a name. The only thing known about the witness is that this person was a government employee, anonymous of course. The author of the story was a science teacher named Thom Powell who believe it really happened and that the whole story was an elaborate cover-up. Powell said the anonymous government employee alerted the BFRO about a 7.5 feet long/tall burn victim with "multiple burns on hands, feet, legs and body; some 2nd and 3rd degree burns". So wait a second, if this video was shot by the same guy that shot the nerd getting chased by the Bigfoot , then it's definately not real. That filmmaker admitted that he shot that footage for a film he was making. Parabreakdown already debunked this stuff. On another note however, this makes the PGF look like crap. So to anyone who says "why can't it be done today?l" boom!!! It HAS been done, back in '06. This young film maker has officially destroyed that argument.

DeleteI have been doing alot of research on the nocturnal habits of bigfoot recently. I have been in touch with Bobo and Matt and we have some expeditions scheduled soon. And im going to join the BFRO very soon. Bigfoot typically migrate long distances at night based primarily on smell. Its my opinion that bigfoot lay down scent trails for others to follow, and thats how the migrate across the country. I honestly think they are even capable of doing it in very water habitats. Thus the swamp ape migrations each year.

And we keep hearing reports of them having more of a gliding walk. This one was more lumbering along. And it was filmed by a movie maker...

The film maker has refused to say anything at all about the 'documentary'. He's never replied to anyone's emails and he never mentions the video on his blogs or websites even though he's happy to talk about all his other films. That in itself is suspicious.
The film has also apparently never been screened in a film festival or on TV which is also really odd for a documentary apparently funded by the National Geographic Society. It's appeared on the filmmaker's youtube channel and there's absolutely zero record of it ever appearing anywhere else.
The entire angle where he allegedly got a grant from the National Geographic Society to make the 'documentary' is also a total fabrication. For a start, why did he even need a grant when all he did was tack on 3 minutes of stock footage and some audio recordings from Coast To Coast to the video he'd shot several years previously? He's a professional film maker with over a dozen films on his vimeo channel so he clearly has all the editing and camera equipment already, there's nothing in the documentary that actually required a grant of any sort. If he actually did get a grant to make this film you'd expect it to have a lot more substance.
On top of that the National Geographic Society only gives grants to people doing research or exploratory field work and the few filmmakers they've awarded grants to were all going into the field to shoot new documentary footage and not editing pre-existing footage. They also list all the previous grant recipients on their site and Shawn Bannon's name definitely isn't listed anywhere on that list:

On top of all that he's a filmmaker who has a long history of creating special effects for his short films and if you read his blog you'll see that he's got an interest in horror and fantasy films, an oddball sense of humour, an interest in viral videos and viral marketing (he's made videos for organisations like PETA and the Sea Shepherds) and he's had an interest in conservation and the protection of animals since he was a kid so it'd be really odd for him to not talk out about a rare species if he had the opportunity. If you include the facts that the footage of the creature was obviously edited down from a lot more footage, the 'documentary' doesn't actually document any facts about the encounter and he lied about the National Geographic Society grant in order to give the video some semblance of legitimacy or something then the whole thing sets off way too many bullshit alarms to be in any way believable.
It's a hoax video, guys. A really obvious hoax video.

For a start, I'm not Phil Poling. Phil has posted here before and he did so under his own name.
Secondly, it's "whole argument" not "hole argument", although I'm sure someone will be along promptly to argue about tater holes.
Thirdly, my main argument was that there's a number of suspicious things about this film which make the entire thing untrustworthy, the main one being the lie about the grant from the National Geographic Society. The fact that it was created by a guy trained in making fake stuff look believable on film is only part of the reason we shouldn't take the footage at face value.
In a way I admire Bigfoot advocates' to overlook indicators that some people who present new evidence are untrustworthy (the people who argue that Rick Dyer's tent video and his new Bigfoot body could be real despite his history of hoaxing, the people who argued that the video of Matilda the sleeping Bigfoot was genuine even though the habituators who shot the footage have faked stuff in the past, people who argue that the Creature in the Giant Sequoias video couldn't be faked even though the filmmaker faked other aspects of the film like the grant claim) but really, it's starting to make you guys look really really gullible.
