Mike Rugg's Bigfoot Tooth Was Featured On Finding Bigfoot Last Sunday

via bigfootdiscoveryproject.blogspot.com
Bigfoot Discovery Museum curator Mike Rugg has been holding onto a giant molar he found in Scotts Valley, CA since 2008 -- hoping that someday it can be tested. Word on the street has it that Rugg is still searching for a reputable scientist to test the DNA of the mystery tooth in his possession. The Finding Bigfoot crew, who visited Rugg a few months ago, clearly thought the tooth was interesting, but why didn't they take it to a DNA lab to have it tested? BFRO Facebook group member, Russ Mock, wondered the same thing. He posted this statement on Facebook:

In the last episode with Mike Rugg, why didn't Matt and the team attempt to collect a sample of his tooth for DNA analysis? It was analyzed by 6 dentists that all said it appeared to be an upper human molar, human like, but way too large. Bobo stated, "What else could it be? This could be the evidence we're looking for to prove that Sasquatch is real". And they just leave it there without collecting a sample?! Matt stated, "That's the exact type of evidence that made the discovery of Gigantopithecus. An extinct ape species believed to be Bigfoots closest evolutionary ancestor. And this tooth could be proof that there's at least one here in Santa Cruz". Again, no evidence collection here? Very confusing.

I can't believe Dr Sykes was not interested in genetically analyzing Mike Rugg's' tooth either. Rugg says that he was told they only wanted hair samples and denied looking into it, yet they DNA tested the blood on Justin Smeja's boots. It boggles my mind how they could have passed up a sample the likes of this tooth. Dr Sykes is the first scientist to be able to extract DNA from Neanderthal bones and he wouldn't attempt it on this modern, human/primate looking tooth, that is twice as large as a human's? How can he say he's sick of hearing cryptozoologists say that mainstream science won't look at their evidence when he himself refuses to look at and analyze decent and interesting evidence like this tooth which very well could produce viable DNA to analyze. Sounds a tad hypocritical to me.

Am I missing something here? Does no one think this tooth is worthy of DNA sampling and testing. The Finding Bigfoot team definitely seemed to think it was worthy, yet they didn't even ask about the possibility of testing it. This could have potentially put Matt and the team smack dab in the middle of the discovery they have all been working so hard to solve.

  1. I had a lead on a tooth earlier in the year. My buddy was never able to find it. He had found it in Yosimite in his youth and said it's tucked away in those boxes of childhood crap we all keep. They tore his dads garage apart looking, but they never could find it. I had a dentist ready. but no cigar(tooth) ha ha ha.

I found out that you have to be carefull as pig and I think Goat (unsure if goat was the other) look like human molars, very similar and sometimes a bit larger. Help if you know what the second animal is for sure?

The one my buddy was looking for was three times bigger and one of the four quads kinda fanged up. To bad, I sure did want to get a look at it. There are hogs up near Yosimite so maybe it wasn't from the big man!

  2. And it amazes me that when there is an artifact that can possible make a difference, there is never a rush to have it tested. And why? Fake???

    2. No. She was an African. A modern African. Without any other evidence of which there is currently none, to say different, this is what you have to assume.

Really, this is soul destroying. You are all clutching at one throw-away flight of fancy and ignoring the solid evidence.

    1. Because to Mike Rugg it's a drawing of income and most likely to test it will destroy it just looking for viable DNA. Then it's most likely human or something not bigfoot.

  11. Hey, everyone here that is sure that there is no such thing as bigfoot, make your own blog. Call it "No Bigfoot Evidence". You can laugh, and make jokes to your friends.....it'll be awesome! Then, those of us who think there probably is a North American ape can enjoy discussing this stuff amongst ourselves. I think mermaids are bullshit, but I try not to be an asshole by going to the mermaid blog to fuck with people there.

    1. If the Finding Bigfoot team did find conclusive evidence to support the existence of Sasquatch then of course the show would go on. The format might change, but if mainstream science did accept the said evidence and conclude the creature is real then the popularity of the creature and the show would increase exponentially. Subsequently this would cause an increased interest in details concerning the newly accepted creature including the creature's habits, physiology, abilities, food sources, population, life span, it's place in the animal kingdom, genetic information, etc. So arguably, the team would still be able to capitalize on the popularity of Sasquatch by attempting to investigate these and other aspects of the creature.

  18. From Rhettman Mullis of Bigfootology
"Regarding Zana, Bryan has tested both the mitochondria and the nuclear DNA and both sides revealed that Zana’s mother and father are both human. Bryan is currently working on a way to further determine if her African lineage is a modern or relic human. When he is successful at that determination we will announce the findings. Bryan did test Kwit’s tooth but was only able to acquire the mitochondria side of the DNA. Still, of the six descendants of Zana tested by Bryan all showed human lineage – just as the result were announced that she is human with half of her DNA being sub-Saharan African. When we discovered this outcome late last spring I told Bryan that there would be a great disappointment when some learn that she was indeed human and nothing else, but for some of us who are more scientific-focused will still be excited that there is now a concrete answer to the Zana mystery. When we received that result it made me fall back on my own expertise in psychology and propose the likelihood of Zana being a feral woman, potentially abandoned as a child, with a case of hypertrichosis and that would affect her physiology as well as cognitive abilities. All of these related indicators fall in line with Zana’s historic description."

  19. Pulp was extracted from the tooth once in order to be submitted to Melba Ketchum for genetic testing. The tooth was not used in her study and most of the tooth still remains in Rugg's possession. He is currently still searching for a reputable scientist to test the DNA of the mystery tooth in his possession. So further testing would not destroy it.

The late Richard Stubstad originally paid for Mike to travel to southern California back in 2010, where he had a Dentist extract part of the pulp and it was sent to Dr. Ketchum. When Mike contacted her a year later she informed him that the tooth had not been used in her original study, which is still pending publication today over a year later, as she had not received the proper paperwork for it's inclusion. The tooth pulp was apparently a victim of the legal issues between herself and Richard Stubstad, an original member of the study team. Fortunately Mike still retains most of the tooth. (See Richards last interview below)

Next Mike contacted a local Geneticist at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Ed Green, who declined to even look at it during his stop at the Museum, because he was so absolutely sure that Bigfoot do not exist that he did not believe there could possibly be any evidence to look at..........

Finally Mike contacted the DNA Study currently being carried out by Dr Bryan Sykes, Professor Emeritus at Oxford University, to see if he could submit part of the tooth pulp for analysis there, but was told that this study is only accepting hair samples.
