Breaking: Hiker Missing Near Bluff Creek, Video of a Woman Captured on Trail Camera (Updated)
About 3 months ago, a woman named Ann Rodriquez was dropped off by her brother near Slate Creek in northern California. After 75 days, the woman to meet up with her brother at the drop off area on August 9th, but she never showed up. Her family recently notified the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office on August 14th and they've been searching for the missing her since.
According to locals, it's possible that the hiker went up Slate Creek Road and hiked up Bluff Creek -- a place made famous by Patterson-Gimlin in 1967 for filming a Bigfoot. Currently, this area is also where the Bluff Creek Film Site Project is taking place.
The hiker's brother reportedly took her up like three miles on Slate Creek Road to a trailhead. After that she was to go in about ten miles, heading in the direction right toward Bluff Creek and the Patterson-Gimlin film site. Jaime S., a member of the Bluff Creek Film Site Project, says it's quite possible that the woman may gotten lost and made it to Bluff Creek. "She likely went up "slate creek road" and hiked up Bluff Creek. About 12 miles up the creek is the PG site where the cams were," Jaime S. wrote in the facebook group, Coalition for Reason, Science, Sanity in Bigfoot Research. Though the following video from Jamie's trail cam (with incorrect time-stamp) was taken on July 3rd, Jaime has confirmed with the hiker's mother that it's not her daughter in the video.
[Update] Travis M. confirmed with us that the woman in the video above is his wife, not the missing hiker: "The woman in the video is my wife, Cathryn! That's her dog, Scout. We were up there for several days and I just showed her the video and I can say 100% for sure that it's her!"
Here's the official press release from the Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Office:
On 08-14-2013, approximately 10:00 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen who reported his sister as an overdue hiker. The citizen told the investigating deputy he dropped his sister Anna Maria Rodriquez off at a trailhead three miles out Slate Creek, Orleans. He said his sister told him she intended to hike for about 75 days. He agreed to meet her back at the drop off area on 08-09-2013 and she failed to show up. He re-checked the trailhead daily until 08-14-2013.
He said she brought food, a tent, clothes, backpack and numerous other items with her. She told him she planned to camp in the area about ten miles north- northeast of the drop off. He told the deputy she has done this before. This was her second or third time which is why he was not concerned about her returning to the area, however this was the longest time she had been camping out in that area. She has a cell phone but it is currently turned off either due to a dead battery or voluntarily.
A California Highway Patrol plane flew the area on 08-14-2013 and a team of deputies are currently hiking the trails in the area assisted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
Anna Maria Rodriquez is described as follows: 5-5” tall, 180 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes last seen wearing blue jeans and an unknown colored shirt. She has no permanent place of residence.
Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriffs Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriffs Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.
second...damn..I was to busy leaving stupid remarks under another post...
ReplyDeleteThat's just creepy
ReplyDeleteLets pass around the hat guys and help her out...Then we can pass her around...
ReplyDeleteFIRST!!
please post comments like that with your name you sick fuck. Her brother would like to find YOU and put YOU in the trunk of his car. Your sick in the head and deserve a REALLY good ass beating - Anna's cousin, Winona
Delete..Relax fool, its a silly comment on a bigfoot blog..Now, show me your boobs...
DeleteTits or gtfo
Deleteyou are a coward with that pass her around shit. i'd punch your mother if I new the bitch. bitch oh hell yea she is look at the great job she did with you male ass-muncher. your a punk ass wanna be. or a never was. hope your baby dick falls off. loser!
DeleteIt's absolutely insane and dangerous to hike alone.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Specially a young lady by herself. Hope they find her ok. Wolf
DeleteIf you are alone you are a prime target for a big cat. There is no way they shouldn't of had more contact. Like weekly at the most.
Delete75 days! Perhaps she lost track of time.
ReplyDeleteKelly is a girls name
DeleteI know.I would have gotten concerned after 40 days.
DeleteI find this story hard to believe, a woman hikes in with 75 days with of food and camp equipment by herself. He pack would have to be three times her own body weight. She hikes in alone. She never checks in with any of her family, let alone them letting her go by herself. They do not report her missing for 80 days. What a terrible brother! She is homeless, like I said crappy brother? Stupid on her part, talk about wanting to get raped by a bigfoot. Now rescue has to risk their own lives to look for her and we the tax payers have to pay the bill. It is very hard to be sympathetic when people are so stupid! I think someone she knows did her in and this is a cover-up.
ReplyDeleteDid you not read the whole story? or do you have comprehension issues? The brother reported her missing 5 days after he went to meet her at the designated spot and date and went back 5 consecutive days. NOT 80. They let her go by herself cuz she had accomplished it previously.
Delete"We" taxpayers? I doubt you're from Cali, and I doubt you pay taxes.
Probably missed the part about "No permanent residence" as well... She was homeless and probably lived out there only checking in ever-so-often.
DeleteIDIOTS! why comment if you have nothing nice to say, how would you feel if your family was out there, lost, hurt, or dead? Wouldn't you love to see stupid fucking comments like your own. Your mom's probably a whore and your probably into little boys, see what I mean? Don't say stupid shit for no reason! Someone is lost and our family is hurting trying to deal with all of this. Your comments are not necessary, grow up.
DeleteAnon 9:18:00, if you really are related to Anna, I am so sorry!!! My prayers go out to her and to you. May she be found healthy and well, and as soon as possible!
DeleteThere is no way a 5'-5" woman could carry 75 days worth of food and supplies, this story is really fishy!
Deleteanother fake story - sad
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to say except stupid, stupid stupid.Find her Jamie! Find her! Don't make me come up there.....
DeleteYour lame comment is sad, your lame. My cousin is missing and my family is searching for her. Why unnecessary rude comments?!?
Delete5'5" 180. Should make it through the winter no problem.
ReplyDeleteI've been there. It's tough. When you're the bride of the woods no one wants you after you've been defiled by both man and beast.
(clive squashy)
ReplyDeleteThey might wanna check the trunk of her brother"s car.
That was terrible to say, you suck as a person.
DeleteI think that person could be right, this story doesn't make sense, the police always say the immediate family are always suspects anyway.
DeleteYeah, 5'5" 180lbs not a hiker makes....
ReplyDeleteYou insane sick fucks. A PERSON IS MISSING. None of your stupid idiotic childish remarks matter. Go fuck yourself cuz no one else will. Cut your manhood off after so you can't breed any abhorrent, wretched moronic offspring either.
ReplyDeleteU mad bro? PS. U thought u had a public hair till u peed thru it...
Delete"Pubic" ... what a dumbass
DeleteMost likely, given time of year she stumbled on a Mexicans pot fields and got shot.
DeletePerhaps you hadn't noticed that pretty much every comment here is rude and sophomoric. Just ignore them, eventually they will get old and arthritic and won't be able to type.
DeleteSo who was the girl with the dog in the trailcam footage? is she lost also?
ReplyDelete^^That was Nadia looking for Steven. Lost, so lost. But now she's found redemption clinging like a louse to the armpits of Smegma and Smashebi and Curtaino not to mention poor Mike Ruggs who just lets her hang around. Poor little louse.
ReplyDeletea bigfoot might have gotten her or some naturalist nutt psycho may have gotten her or some bear. Who knows. It's sad but it does t look good hear. Hopefully they will find her.
ReplyDeleteMissing 411
ReplyDeleteShe was probably working on a marijuana grow up there. Humboldt county is starting to get its yearly influx of bums hitching rides in to make money trimming buds
ReplyDelete(clive squashy)
DeleteYeah, fertilizing it.
HMMMM good point Travis, dont know if that is true or not in this case.A lot of the time they will use illegal aliens to tend to the crop.
DeleteI hope they find her, travis rules...thank you...Howard Stern. ..
DeleteWhy would Shawn post this story knowing that the comments would be offensive and rude?
ReplyDeleteHe is just as guilty as those with cruel comments.
yea ok! just like a beer company would be responsible for you driving drunk and killing your mom! stupid people like the public hair comment(above) sums it all up. hope you find this missing person alive and well. no wonder this country is so fucked!
DeleteWhy would Shawn post this story knowing that the comments would be offensive and rude?

ReplyDeleteThis article is pretty much the same info, but look at the comments as it has her mother and other family and friends who actually shed some light on what she was doing. She apparently had made this trip before but just much shorter trips, and her mother said she actually had a pack of supplies buried or hidden at a campsite.
Somebody knows where this woman is, and to her family and friends, I truly hope you find her soon. I can't imagine how hard this is for you.
The woman in the video is my wife, Cathryn. We were camping in Bluff Creek for three days during the first week of July. That's our dog, Scout walking along with her. No doubt about it!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to leave that info in the comments section below that video, I'm seeing people referencing it on other sites.

Shawn,
ReplyDeleteYou really need to start editing the content here. You are the responsible party for this site. You appear to want to be taken seriously as a researcher. Some of the comment content in this particular instance is beyond bad taste. I doubt if questioned the companies that advertise here would really want any part of this.
This format allows you to edit incoming content, perhaps it would be a good idea to start wrangling your own party.
THERE IS A MODERATED FORUM ATTACHED TO THE BLOG CREATED FOR PEOPLE THAT DO NOT LIKE THE FREE-WHEELING COMMENT SECTION...join it or dont. Either way, shut the hell up fool...
DeleteFree wheeling. I am sure that describes your seemingly 11 year old all caps delivery. "Fool"? OK Game on. I will start talking with the advertisers tomorrow. We shall see who the fool is.
DeleteTO ALL YOU INCONSIDERATE FUCKS OUT THERE...AS POETIC AS IT WOULD BE FOR YOU TO FIND YOURSELF IN THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCE, I WOULDN'T WISH THAT UPON YOU! LOOK AT HER LAST NAME "RODRIQUEZ"...THE "Q" REPRESENTS THE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE AS OPPOSE TO "RODRIGUEZ" IN WHICH THE "G" REPRESENTS MEXICAN HERITAGE!! SHE IS NOT MEXICAN SHE IS INDIAN...SHE SET OUT ON A SPIRITUAL QUEST (you fucks can look that up if you need) AND HAS NOT RETURNED HOME. THIS IS A SAD AND SCARY TIME FOR HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND FOR HER AS WELL! YOU HEARTLESS FUCKS NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF AND PRAY THAT GOD DOESN'T DECIDE TO TEACH YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT EMPATHY!!
ReplyDeleteCaps are cool.
DeleteWhen trying to make your point clear :-)
DeleteWhat tribe is she a member of?? Maybe they can provide aid in rescue efforts.
ReplyDeleteApache...family has been out searching and night. Support from friends has been greatful as well. They are taking blood hounds out this weekend when storm passes. Thank you for the thought, sheriffs gave up search after only 2 days. But we aren't giving up any hope.
ReplyDeleteYou might try using loud whistles like the referees use. It will keep others from getting lost while searching and she may hear it.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking
DeleteBigfoot kidnapped her of course.....
ReplyDeleteRecently, another girl set out by herself on a Spirit Quest from Canyon Creek Campground, in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Even though she intended to be back by nightfall, she never returned despite the area being laced with lightly travelled roads. Don't go on solo spirit quests.
ReplyDeleteSome of the comments on this story are disgusting you should all be ashamed you are the worst of humanity.
ReplyDeletea smart assed comment from a skeptard for a change.
ReplyDeleteThat's awful, hope they find her alive.
ReplyDeletelong time to out in the wilderness by yourself,
ReplyDeleteanything can happen, fall, become ill, animal attack,
even dehydration is extremely dangerous. I hope is is ok and i hope this hits home with some people how dangerous it is to venture off alone in remote areas.
An update for those still following this story. The remains of this missing woman...my dear cousin have been found. Sadly she fell and severly broke her leg which led to a quick infection and ultimately causing her passing. So again to all those inconsiderate fucks...maybe you should really think about what you what post before posting. A lot of family members and volunteers spent day after day searching for Anna, and to have an ending like this is heart wrenching. I hope in your hearts you are sorry for the hurtful and stupid jokes you just couldn't help hut say. And thank you to all those who heart went out to our family.
ReplyDeleteYour article is awesome! I have read through other blogs, but they are cumbersome and confusing.
