Science isn’t about what is true or what might be true, science is about what people with originally diverse viewpoints can be forced to believe by the weight of public evidence.

And there is the problem in all this – the evidence does not look good.

    3. Dr Melba may be developing a theme park as we speak, on the land where the yeti was sited - and which she owns (maybe).

She's obviously milking this for all its worth.

And why not - Scotland's done alright out of the Loch Ness monster.

    1. Animal tagging and tracking has been a fundamental tool in the quest to increase our knowledge and understanding of biogeography and ecology for about 50 years. Monitoring animal populations is also necessary for conservation purposes and to limit negative effects on the human population, particularly in an era of human expansion into traditional animal habitats. The use of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology has been responsible for significant advances in this field by providing the ability to obtain accurate, regular and frequent estimates of the changing distributions of many rare animal species. Employing conventional GNSS-based animal tracking methods to study drop bears is extremely difficult due to their habitat. The dense tree canopy regularly causes extended periods of complete GNSS signal loss, and sensors are often damaged during attacks on prey. This paper proposes an indirect, GNSS-based method for tracking drop bears. This involves tracking the prey rather than the predator in order to map the population of drop bears in a particular area. The method can be used to effectively estimate the number of drop bears in the study area. Analysis of the collected data provides valuable insights into the hunting behaviour of drop bears and has implications for a better understanding of the geographical distribution of other rare species, including hoop snakes and bunyips.

    2. No one will spend a dime doing any of this until the species is confirmed.

Since the DNA study is DOA, a body is the only evidence that will get it done at this point.

Bag and tag one and drag it to the local news station for instant coverage.

PRO KILL! Not a big deal since it seems they are mythical anyhow.

    4. With the latest Bigfoot paper, I have no idea what the motivation was. But we do have a great example to show the public how not to publish supposedly paradigm-shattering science.

The old adage is as pertinent as ever: extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

  10. HEADLINE; This morning around 7:24 AM EST. A large Bipedal furry man like creature was found deceased behind the Williamsburg VA Wallmart Super store. The animal has not been officially identified, officials will only say the creature appears to be some kind of non indigenous Ape like creature, possibly the missing link. A spokes woman for Walmart said that the creature was for sure a MALE and someone she would have liked to have known prior to his death. No witnesses have yet come forward and no cause of death has been established, this by Chief of police and Taxi driver that made the gruesome discovery. The public is being ask for help in identification of the creature while being warned to stay away due to possible diseased condition. When questioned about the condition described Taxi driver Charly would only state, there seemed to have been some kind of flesh eating illness working on the poor fellow, he has at least 6 holes center mass the size of a baseball. Chief Chuck Hickman said it could possibly be another rash of dreaded 195grain copper coated glock eyedus. The creature is now being stored at Charly's meat and thangs until officials from KY, VA, and TN state fair can get to the site. Possible public viewing after midnight, not yet confirmed. Dr Melba Bascardi being flown in from her honey moon to help identify the creature.

  11. There are no sasquatch, bigfoot, forest people etc., just a bunch of idiots looking to screw the pubic and make a buck. If I am wrong on this then prove it. Shoot and kill one of the sons of people/unknow hominid or whatever the liars call it.

It will never happen. It is a myth. No body no bigfoot. Period.

    2. The article dismisses the possibility of Bigfoot right off declaring that is not possible for such a creature to exist without being captured or killed, claiming that with all the sightings reported people should be tripping over Bigfoot every time they walk out of their house. But Bigfoot aren't parading down main street therefore all sightings are declared moot and scientists would be wasting their time researching them. However, this ignores all the evidence that has been discovered, and the fact that plenty of scientists are indeed working on proving Bigfoot exists. The writer goes on to say that he'd prefer Bigfoot hunters out in the woods searching for something that doesn't exist rather than sitting in an easy chair watching TV. We say maybe he should get up out of his own chair and do a little more relevant research on the subject he's so gleefully attacking.

    4. There is all kinds of evidence, going back for decades, but none of it constitutes "proof".

  12. Bigfoot, a 500-kilo bipedal primate standing 3.0 metres, is biologically possible. Other than the bipedal locomotion, a primate from South-eastern Asia, gigantopithecus, would have fit the bill – if it hadn’t gone extinct 100,000 years ago.

But given biogeography and population biology, such a species is not plausible.

Bigfoot’s biggest bunions are his biggest supporters, the Bigfoot hunters. Sightings of the creature have come from all over North America.
Yet any species with a huge distribution would consist of a large number of individuals, and therefore, we would have plenty of physical evidence.

Proponents justify this lack of evidence by claiming Bigfoot is low in numbers, and they bury their dead, and …

Whoa Nelly! You’re telling me in a country where there are 88 guns for every 100 people no one has shot and recovered the body.

Until 2009, there were no sightings of pygmy hippos in all of Australia, nevertheless a NT hunter managed to shoot one.

You can’t have it both ways. The Bigfoot population cannot stretch across North America enabling sightings every other Tuesday, and be in such low numbers that solid evidence never materialises.

In Bigfoot’s case, scientists don’t look because he is simply not plausible.

  13. Bigfoot or its Yeti cousins are unlikely to be found in the northern hemisphere. They were all kidnapped decades ago to work as beasts of burden in the secret Nazi UFO base in Antarctica. I therefore scoff at this sort of 'proof' sourced from tissue samples in the USA.
