Photo of the day: Trollstigen, Norway (Troll's Footpath)

Photograph by Luigi Vaccarella, SIME

Trollstigen is one of the most spectacular roads in Norway, and also one of the most popular places to visit for tourists. It is an insanely twisty piece of road going up a mountain. "Trollstigen" means "the troll's footpath" or the local translation, "troll's ladder".

It is the only place in Norway where you can find an official road sign with a troll on it. At the parking area before you start going upwards you can also see a road sign that reads: "Warning! Trolls!"

    3. Recently wathed the movie "Trollhunter" from 2010--it was great. Didn't have subtitles though. I must say I was blown away by the sheer natural beauty of your country.

    4. That was a great movie, you can see it with subtitles on Netflicks. Trolls had rabies; powerlines were troll fences; the whole movie was awesome; once they dub it in English it will be a classic akin to Monty Python.

  2. I thought this was a Bigfoot blog. I'm getting sick of all these stupid posts that have nothing to do with Sasquatch.

    1. Lighten up Nancy. Bigfoot doesn't exactly require 24hr CNN or Fox News coverage. Since virtually every article - Bigfoot or not - is torn apart by someone here, why not enjoy the lighter fare Shawn shares. Or exercise free will and y'know, don't actually read stuff you don't like. :P

    3. Yes,The Knower and I are Homosexual.;)
He was born out of a tryst with a female Bigfoot.
Taterpalooza will go on as planned.
The Knower will be well known in the Taterholing community.
The first 101 men is just fodder for The Knower.
Long Dong Silver is the last one to tap that taterhole and will be the true test.

      Taterholingly,
      The Knowers Dad

  6. What is Bigfoot if not the contemporary manifestation of trolls, ogres, wildmen, or the boogieman himself? Look back in our history, even further back than those cool old 19th Century newspaper accounts and American Indian legends, and you'll still see old Sookum there... crouching in cold caves, under stone bridges, watching our ancestors toil from from just beyond the treeline, leering in their childrens' bedroom windows at night. When we emerged from the mists of prehistory Bigfoot was with us already. By any other name he has ever dogged our footsteps and troubled our dreams, and he always will.
