Dr. Meldrum Officially Involved in The Falcon Project (an Airship)
It's official: Dr. Jeff Meldrum is now part of The Falcon Project. This project has been going on for 3 years now and it involves an airship and high-tech gadgetry, like a gyro-stabilized thermal imaging/infrared/HD video camera attached to the ship. According to tech journal, Gizmag.com, "the aircraft will also be equipped with carbon dioxide-recognition equipment, to detect the exhalations of animals in the forests beneath it."
William A. Barnes, founder of The Falcon Project, "hopes to become familiar with the CO2 signatures of common creatures such as bears, so that he won’t get unnecessarily excited by every reading he gets. When something unusual shows up, however, the team will use to the camera’s powerful zoom lens to get a better look at it, while recording the images. The ground crew will also be playing back and recording infrasound, as some people have theorized that Bigfoots use it to communicate with one another."
The scientific prospect can't be understated, as Meldrum explained:
"The prospect of compelling DNA evidence for a relict North American primate looms on the horizon and may indicate that a corner is about to be turned," Meldrum told us. "[However] DNA sequence data can only tell us so much about sasquatch. What follows will be the challenge of studying a rare, reclusive, solitary, nocturnal primate species in the field. Aerial reconnaissance combined with thermal imaging, widely employed in wildlife studies, is a logical approach to meeting this challenge. The Falcon Project offers the advantage of the stealth and maneuverability capabilities of an unmanned helium-filled airship, over helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft."

In case anyone from the Falcon Project reads this (I doubt), concentrate on rivers and lakes in National Forests, but I am quite confident on your expertise. DeleteIt's a mistake to think of the PG film as some Holy Grail - it doesn't matter whether it's real or fake because stand-alone film is not evidence. Evidence has to be replicable. The PG film was a source of inspiration for many and that should be its role.

My friend never saw the film before his encounter. We never had an interest - we were too busy being kids, playing music, geeking over our sci-fi future, studying for our careers.

So their effort is no more dumb or great than any company that spends development money on a product or service. If you can't see the other applications of this technology or other sophisticated methods being developed to locate well-hidden objects and subjects, then you are ignorant. Science is about exploring new ideas, pushing the envelope, and expanding knowledge. These can all be achieved whether the primary objective of this project is met or not.
The true skeptic has doubt and asks questions, but does so to seek truth and verify knowledge 'as they know it'. They don't use their knowledge to bludgeon and oppress others. Real scientists are driven by the urge to explore, learn, and grow knowledge.
If you are an witness or you favor exploration, know this: The hateful people posting here are neither skeptics nor scientists, they are simply bullies who have deluded themselves into believing that the only way they can elevate themselves is to step on others. They do not care about the subject and they certainly don't care about you - they are only here to incite and get their fix. Well said. I agree with you. This site use to be great but this last 6-8 months has gone downhill quick. I blame Finding Bigfoot sometimes. With the popularity of that show at the level it is, many people turn to the Internet for whatever reason they may have and they find this place and others like it and cause problems. Some of them legit skeptics. Some "closet-believers" posing as skeptics. And some who are most likely young immature males (probably still in high school or early 20s, maybe not) who have no life, no friends, and are turning to the Internet to cure their boredom, or for whatever other reason they have. We really don't know why they do it. They won't stop either. No matter what happens. Even if a body is found and its proven. It will never stop. These type of people are everywhere we go.

DeleteAgreed @4:29. I've been saying here for a while that the drones are coming. It's the only way. If it can go 45 mph, the Bigfoots won't be able to outrun it, if they even care to. What I worry about is the willingness of the skeptics, and the groups who think they'll lose big money if Bigfoots are found,to shoot down this and other drones. There might be legal challanges as well. Do you all realize how advanced camera equipment is now? How blimps can follow a golf ball in crystal clear HD from over a mile away? It's going to take a lot of money and perserverance to get it done, but it will eventually get done. But it will cost a LOT of money. This is a start, any success at all, and the monies will start flowing in, just like the animal planet/nat geo shows. We'll see what we see. This drone maker has seen one, up close and real, hence his commitment to this. They'll have to keep it up high enough to keep from getting shotdown, and have to fend off law enforcement privacy issues on the legal front as well. They'll need our support and encouragment.

DeleteMy only arguement with @4:29 is that the PG film IS evidence. If it can't be faked, it is evidence, and proof of a new bipedal primate. This drone will provide the same kind of evidence, though if it's digital, it can be faked as well, so we're back with the same arguement, without a body. If it's real time, or nearly so, it'll be a little harder to dispute. 5 hours is not nearly enough airtime, though it's a good start. IF we're going to have enough time for the ground troops to encircle and capture one, 2-3 days would be a minimum I would think. This could get the support of the whole academic world, and coupled with the DNA evidence that'll soon be out, big resources will likely be marshaled. Our species spends billions looking for the signatures of life on mars, asteroids, nearby start system planets, and on the moons of jupiter and saturn. Once the academic community is behind it, and are not afraid of ruining their careers, we'll simply get the resources and get it done. The drones are the missing link (pardon the pun) in solving the Bigfoot mystery.

A person says "Hey I have an idea, I want to try x-y-z to find an elusive target." Here the target is Bigfoot, but it doesn't matter because the scientific/critical thinker will substitute that variable for a known elusive species like wolverine. So the skeptic responds "That won't work because a, b, & c." The skeptic gives reasons for their dissent. They may not agree, but they contribute, they inform.
The hater says "Your a c*cksucking as$hole loon if you think that will work!" Haters lack critical thinking - there is no intent to contribute. There is only the intent to get a rise - their fix. If it is frequent enough, they will also suppress discussion because most people don't like confrontation. It's happening here now.
Any country that prides itself on the free exchange of ideas (pro or con, it doesn't matter) should not tolerate anyone who suppresses ideas. We have all been carefully programmed to wait for 'someone else' to take action. But how does that usually end? With everyone being oppressed - forced public disclosure is a very real possibility.
Web anonymity is already a myth! Shawn knows your IP; I know the IP (and lots more) of every visitor to my sites. There are groups now - some quite subversive - gathering gobs of tracking info about you. Are you prepared to defend all your posts to the world? Will you escape the new world wide web?
We the readers need to stand up and stop the bullying. Every one should be disturbed by this hate and we should be willing to try to stop it before less scrupulous groups take care of it for us all.

James - this is off-topic, but let me correct myself, the PG Film may be evidence, but it's definitely not proof. No stand-alone film or image is proof because proof must be replicable - an independent party must achieve the same result. If Patterson contacted an Anthropologist and a Biologist and directed them to Bluff Creek and they captured the same image with conviction that no manipulation occurred then it could be proof. That didn't happen; no proof.
DeleteThat's the inherent folly of this site - the vast majority of evidence presented here will be multi-media and multi-media makes terrible evidence because the variables that create an image/film in the 1st place, even if 100% authentic, are virtually impossible to replicate for validation. In addition, digital media can be easily manipulated. The PG film has a + because it is analog film and more difficult to manipulate. But the fact that it is a stand-alone example and remains contested 45 years later makes it weak evidence.
The hater tells you it's fake because he is banking on you thinking in absolutes like he does: all/nothing, black/white, his righteous sane view /your wrong loony view, etc. The hater fails to recognize that objects and events can transcend the mere purpose of evidence. A cast is evidence. DNA is evidence. But neither is very exciting (to most) because we are visual animals - film is powerful. Films - fiction and non-fiction - have changed lives.
The PG film can influence and does inspire. And whether it is real or not has zero bearing on all those sightings before and after, far or near, that can't be easily classified. Whether the PG film is real or not, we still need a body, a genotype, as proof.

Anon 1:15 - As scientific proof, it doesn't matter whether people believe PG is real or not. Belief/non-belief doesn't change the fact that PG is a standalone film where the events captured were not replicated independently. No scientist followed up, went to Bluff Creek, and also caught one on film. It's 45 yrs later - a body is the proof the world needs today. With our technology this should be obtainable.

ReplyDeleteya you can think what you want, the first thing I would like to say is my sighting in 97 was about 90sec long, an got as close to 3 feet away,got a great side view,(so no one can tell me there not real)now I spent over 12yrs researching researchers in this field an why they could not film this great creature in the wild, I know they try hard an put in a lot of time in, an alot of good people out there an bad too, an most never get to see one, but I was lucky,wright place wright time, now to the drone, it will go up to 8500 feet(we will not be in the tree top as some people think)it has no props, very hi tec, 4-5hrs fly time, first of it's kind in the world, cost $250.000, thermal cam , can see things clearly at night up to a mile away, custom made for for this project(first of it's kind),gyro custom made to, cost $60.000, so if you add all this up it is not cheap, now i hope you guys can see why it has been 3yrs to put this together, we have to do this wright to make it work, or it will be just a waist of time an money.
