Let's Donate Some Cash To The Bluff Creek Trail Camera Survey Project

Come on Bigfooters! Let's do this. The Bluff Creek Trail Camera Survey team only needs about $191 to fund their overwinter trail camera survey project at the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film site. So far, they have raised $390 of the $581 that's needed to pay for two trail cameras.

There's only 14 days left and if you really care about Bigfoot and you believe that Patty is the real deal, then you gotta do what you can to help them out. If you don't really care about Bigfoot and all you do is want to make fun of us Bigfooters, that's OK too, you can still donate!

In order to get a good view of animals migrating through the creek bed we need at least two cameras and hardware. Amazon.com currently offers the Trophy Cam HD Max Black for $210.70, which seems to be the best price. We will also need to get mounting hardware, memory cards, and batteries. Any additional funds received will go toward purchasing more cameras. Obviously the more cameras we put in the field the more complete the study will be. Any left over donations not amounting to enough to purchase an entire camera will go toward fuel to visit the site. A detailed expense report and receipts will be published at the time of purchases. Of course the prices and availability of the cameras are subject to change during the course of this campaign and any additional costs or equipment will be explained in a detailed expense report. Below is a basic run-down of the current costs of the equipment.

Camera $210.70
Bear Safe $29.16
32gb Memory Card $19.58
12 lithium batteries $20.12

Total per camera $279.56
Two cameras $559.12

4% Indiegogo fee $22.36

Grand Total $581.48

About the team:

  • Robert Leiterman

  • Steven Streufert
  • Jamie Schutmutt:

I am 28 years old and currently a geology student. I was a participant in the 2010-11 United States Antarctic Program. My current interest in the subject of Bigfoot stems from listening to Art Bell on Coast-to-Coast AM radio while I was a kid. I have since grown up, and through a twist of fate I find myself living in Humboldt County, California. The site of the Patterson-Gimlin Film is in close proximity to my house, and that re-kindled my fascination with the subject. I met up with some local researchers and offered my assistance in their research at the film site. I worked on the hard trigonometry and mathematics involved in exacting dimensions and geometry for the film site survey. I am a post-Dawkins atheist and paranormal skeptic. My contributions to the field include field research assistance and several short essays. I do not "believe" in Bigfoot. I posit that the modern word "belief" has been taken to the level of blind faith and disregarding of evidence and logic. I do, however, posit that there is sufficient current evidence of the creature to warrant further studies. I suppose that if I see one that I might "know" they exist. - Jamie Schutmutt

    1. Wow where do I start? A single camera deployed in an area that has no evidence of such a creature? There was a bunch of hoaxed prints there and a hoaxed film back in the 60s. You might aswell shut your eyes and point anywhere on a map of the united states and deploy it there. And you expect other people to fund this? Crazy.

  3. Dude it's not really my call but if I were to put cams anywhere it wouldn't be anywhere near Bluff creek.
You are asking us to pay for you to be hoaxed.

    1. We are just trying to give people the opportunity to be part of the project. What's wrong with the site? There is a lot of large animal movement in the area. Only way to be sure is to try.

  4. Ok, I know who Dawkins is, but what is a post Dawkins atheist? Totally agree with your ideas about blind faith, etc.

    1. Nothing wrong with trying. We're more interested in just seeing what the animals are doing down there...

    2. There are still sightings and track finds in the Bluff Creek area to this day. It is still quite wild, and rarely occupied by humans most of the year. It is an ideal area to observe wildlife.

  6. Why would someone disclose an area that will have cameras? Good luck in your work but next time announce the project and not the location .

    1. The area is forty miles past a locked gate. I'm not worried about thieves or hoaxers in the least. They you need a snowmobile and a kayak to get down there in the winter.

The $30.00 'bear safe' must have been devastatingly difficult on the teams finances! Enough to put them in the Red!

      So, what is your problem?

We are giving people the opportunity to participate in a publicly-funded research endeavor, and are freely sharing the results. We have spent a heck of a lot of money doing research up there, and received zero pay for doing it. At this point we are trying to involve a larger group of interested parties who would like to see whatever the results are. That is all. We are not doing this for profit.

Looking at the above comments all I see is a bunch of bitter, cynical, naysaying jerks who simply wish to tear down others to make them feel better about their own sad lives. It's pathetic, really.

    1. What is sad is your need to post such an absurd and petty comment.

This was Jamie's project and idea. He is a full-time college student in the Sciences., with a limited personal income while in school. He proposed this idea to the members of the Bluff Creek Film Site Project as a publicly-funded, publicly-accessible data gathering effort that would be interesting and beneficial to all who care about wildlife and the Bluff Creek environs. Funding goals were doubled due to public enthusiasm, and all money was spent on cameras, batteries and supplies, and all were implemented on-site. In fact, much of or own money was spent over the stated expenses, not to mention our time.

It should be known to all informed and educated people that most scientific efforts seek grants and funding from various sources. There is nothing unusual in this particular effort doing so.

How many times do we have to clarify this wholly spurious issue?
