Yes I said it: "I believe in Bigfoot"

Editor's Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor Melloney T. She lives in southern Spain and her various interests are herpetology, mythology, and ufology. Basically, everything supernatural.

Fairy tales, folklore, legends and myths, the tradition of telling stories came long before the written page, even probably before the spoken word. From the beginning, humans used drawings and enactments through dance and rhythm, then later through song and story telling. Some tales were told to warn and teach, others to amaze and astound, or to bring laughter or tears.

These stories were handed down from one generation to the next, to be remembered and passed on time and time again to a willing audience or young ear. It was a form of entertainment, a time of great joy, when families, groups, tribes and alike would come together and enjoy one another's company.

Often the stories would be told by the leaders, the shamans, or the elders of the tribe, it was a way of bringing their people together as one listening mind. These stories often contained the precious history of a people, a town or a tribe, they were n´t all just playful ditties or scary anecdotes , some were recollections of heroic events, or chronicles of ancient civilizations long gone. They were and still are important to many people, many of them are still being told but maybe in another form, maybe translated in a different manner.

Some stories carried moral and ethical learning, being told as an entertaining story instead of being taught as a stern lesson a child would remember it more fondly. This is the case of the “stranger danger” fairy tales such as “Little Red Riding Hood”, just one of many stories that we as a modern civilisation are forgetting.

Many old tribes from around the world, which have not been tainted by modern humans still respect the tradition of passing down their stories to the next generation, it is seen as an important way to better and advance their peoples physical lives and mental spirits. Yes some stories may be far fetched and some might be funny but if you analysed them, there would be a reason for them lasting the length of time, which they have, they are not to be ignored or taken lightly, many have hidden meanings or lessons to be learnt.

So why have we as modern people stopped telling them? The answer is easy, we no longer want to believe in what we cannot see, we will not allow ourselves to be taken down the road of imagination simply because now science and order dictates our lives. We are told what to believe in and we are shown, our minds are tuned into televisions, computers and alike, leaving many of us are unable to except the “what if” or the “what could be”. We feel ashamed too easily, we dislike being different, scared of being laughed at, standing out from the flock of sheep.

Our minds are no longer free they are moulded, contained in the here and now. We are led to believe that creatures and lands from stories cannot exist, we are humans, the kings of our domain, nothing can exist here that we have not seen already. But can they, can things still be hidden within our world and we just do not know it yet? Certainly our ancestors thought so and they told many people who unfortunately did not listen. Because of this so much was lost to us, our way of life changed, we lost touch with everything we shouldn't have.

As a person who believes that there can be more than our eyes can see, I am asking you to pass your stories on, be proud of the stories you have. Tell people what you have witnessed, felt or even touched. As a community we should stand by one another and not feel ridiculed simply because other people have closed minds, we should be open and accepting and most of all teachers.

Pass your stories on to the children, family and friends, allow them to feel the wonderment that you feel, allow them the chance of opening up their minds to a world of colour, not just one of black and white. Be story tellers, amaze them, scare then, teach them, warn them, nurture them with your words, do what we as humans were meant to do.

If you know any native Americans, old grandparents, relatives, who have stories to tell, listen to them, gather them. If you know a friend or an acquaintance who saw a Bigfoot, record the details, take a note, do not let the facts disappear with time. If ever you have a chance to take a photograph or make a sound recording, do it, even if some disbelieve what they see or hear it matters to you, it is your history.

I believe that by reviving and retelling stories about Bigfoot, we can inspire current and future generations to protect the species. Maybe even later to acknowledge it as being one that deserves a place next to us, on this earth. So start sending in everything that matters so we can keep a history of this creature here on the blog, keep records yourself and never lose them, so much has already been lost or forgotten.

  1. Did anyone else notice that the phrase “interests are herpetology, mythology, and ufology. Basically, everything supernatural” implies that herpetology is supernatural?

    2. Thanks for the comment; this has been bothering me also ever since I saw her first post... It also scares me a bit to lump all of those things into the 'supernatural' category since there may be a reasonable natural explaination for other things in her interest list also.

    3. No, far too many words to read! I settled on these comments instead.

  3. Europeans seem to be queer for Bigfoot. We should capitalize on it and give Bigfoot Safaris, exclusively for them.

  5. Well written post, I agree with her totally on the loss of story, whether bigfoot or not, and the need for most folks now to fit into the mold of no mysteries and absolute knowledge of the natural world. I enjoy my time wondering what might still be out there, makes life more interesting.

    3. I say again, go fuck your mom you stupid troll. You called everyone on this thread an idiot, what kind of response did you expect?

    4. Lol, as expected, the uneducated idiot firstly cannot separate directed audience against everyone being an idiot, so, the tru idiot reverts to perverse thoughts. Anon 527, do you even have a GED? With the thoughts you have in your head, I do hope you are not around children.

    5. In English when you address a group of people, it is implied that you are talking to that group of people. That's the way the language works douchebag. You posted an insulting comment. You didn't post it in reply to anyone else's comment, and you addressed no particular audience in the comment. Therefore you insulted an entire thread's worth of commenters for no other reason than that you are a cowardly bully who can only manage to pick on people on the internet.
Subhuman detritus such as yourself should refrain from speaking to your betters unless addressed first. The fundamental problem with diseases like you is that you have not been properly conditioned to keep your mouth shut by being repeatedly slapped in the face whenever you dare to speak. Now stop your pathetic stalling and end your life, you have no place in this world.

    6. Anon 752, u r an idiot, still. The comment above clearly states jesus fire.dummys... A directed audience. Everytime you write a counter, which is clearly incorrect, you spreakle your response with perverse sexual remarks or suggestions of someone killing themselves. What you should do is get off this comical site that is for entertainment purposes, dial 911, and seek help because your mind is in a very dark and ugly place.

  9. The comments section of this site is really being dragged down as of late. Who are you people? Nothing but complete dribble for the most part, lets bring back intelligent dialogue please

    1. Agreed, I think they are all, or most capable of intelligent dialogue. They could make this site something better if they actually made worthwhile comments.
At the moment this site is just known for the mindless trolls and idiots who think they are funny.
Anon 7.52 proved he does have a brain on his last post. So why the hell not use it?

    2. Hmm, not really gonna happen, first off this place is unmoderated and as such often ends up as a psychological dumping ground a bit like the silence sign being taken down at the library so everyone who felt stifled and frustrated at having to be quiet starts shouting and making as much noise as possible.
Secondly the content is often a cause for frustration as it offers little evidence for the existence of BF but then again if you have a blog you have to fill it with something just to get the clicks I guess it doesn't really matter about the content as long as it gets peoples attention so you have a range from passable to pathetic, outlandish claims are probably better then science when it comes to traffic and a blog is a stage that needs actors, hah, it reminds me of that film I think it was called "Field of Dreams", build it and they will come.
