People are failing to associate "places that were named by Native Americans" with our furry friends from the forest. I can not speak for all tribes; however, I can speak for my tribe "Ojibwe, Chippewa, Anishinaabeg" also known as a tribe from the "Algonquin language group."
There "ARE" in fact places named after these forest beings and what their tolerance for people were. For example: From the East Coast to North Dakota and up through Canada you will find these people and you will find lakes, valleys, hills and mountains that they named specifically.
The language is very descriptive and our people named places for what was there. An attribute of some sort created the name for these places. We didn't just give someplace a name because it wounded cool.
Almost all, but not all lakes, valleys, rivers and mountains named by my people will have "root-words" for water, river, lake etc. This root can be either found in the suffix and/or the prefix of the name. All around Minnesota you'll find these names such as pokegama, gitchi-gami in Canada places like nipigon, numayzebing etc.
gama, gami, ziibing, gon are suffixes for lake, rivers and water ways.
Sometimes, you will come across places such as "mesaba, mesabe, bukwas, bukway, bugway, bugwas, windigo, kitchi-saaba, kitchi-sabi etc." These are root words describing a place in which the bigfoot dwelled. Windigo is the name for the "cannibalistic" creature which is simply a bigfoot that will eat you and has a low tolerance for your kind. You see, even when America was founded and my people were guiding the new people across the lands the bigfoot territories "at that time" were being named and given.
This is how it is. Bigfoot was such an important aspect for Native American tribes that they were given territories when the country places were being named. I wouldn't doubt that these people we were guiding from before the Louis and Clark expedition were having encounters of their own.
Talking birds that could piss fire are part of native culture to but I havent seen to many of those around
DeleteListen 2 dogs peeing......keeps smoking that peace pipe
DeleteOjibwe man,
DeleteThis was very informative. I am fascinated by the origins in language and expressions. Thank you for a great post. Do you know if all the bigfoots in the region you were referring to were maneaters and/or hostile? Are there regions that you know about where they are known to be peaceful--I know that some tribes reportedly traded with them and said they had a language.
I wonder if there were Native Americans in earlier centuries who were skeptical with their peers just like today. People don't usually change that much. Or perhaps tribes from regions where there were none of them around who thought that the other tribes were crazy. Also, is there any information that suggested that bigfoots were just as clandestine in those days, or has that risen since the industrialization and population exploded? Thanks again, I hope you see this response.
Killer Peyote .......
DeleteNo peyote will make you see unreal crap.
DeleteNow weed on the other hand. It changes ones mental frequncy. Sasquatches are tuned to get into your frequency and screw with you.
-------Demons fear smoke----------.
I think the smoke they fear is the HERB. Its not that smoking it makes them appear, but if they are already around, it's much tougher for them to hide because they can't zero in on your frequency.
The principle is very similar to having a garage door opener with a roaming signal vs. a steady frequency device.
He can't lock in to manipulate your mind. Therefore, he can't pull his disappeering act.
There is more to this. So take my warning!!!
DO NOT GO INTO THE WOODS SMOKING WEED WHILE LOOKING FOR BIGFOOT.
The creature you seek will tear your head off if your heart, head and soul are not all screwed on strait and covered!
Great story. It's accounts through video like this that keep me believing.
ReplyDeleteYes, but did you hear at the end where he said something to the effect of this was the first time he saw bigfoot, like he had other times ans stories he could tell about bigfoot.... may be a tall tale yarner.... looking for attention.
