Why Has Nobody Found a Bigfoot Body?

The question of why no bones or body has ever been found has been asked since the inception of Bigfoot. It's a fair question and there are different answers to the question, depending on who you ask. If you ask Matt Moneymaker or Dr. Jeff Meldrum, they will tell you the that the soil in areas where the creatures live-- regions like Washington, is acidic and quickly breaks down the bones. Bigfoot's habitat just doesn't allow for the preservation of a body.

Some have suggested that they may have methods of burial, such as storing bones in tree trunks and cremation (We have a weird post on this, click here to read).

Here's another explanation to the mystery and this one is from a book titled, "Bigfoot and Other Mysterious Creature" by Rupert Matthews:

The one thing that all sceptics and scientists say would convince them that the Sasquatch actually exists is a dead body – or at least a significant part of one such as a skull or several bones. Before moving on to look at the evidence that does exist, it would be worth spending a bit of time looking at the evidence that does not exist. Why is there no Sasquatch body?

One explanation that all researchers have to face is that no Sasquatch bodies have ever been found is because there is no such thing as a Sasquatch. This would be a perfectly logical and rational explanation as to why no bodies have ever been found. But it would be false logic to argue back the other way and state that because no bodies have been found it can only be that there are no Sasquatch. There are other possible explanations as well.

Assuming that the Sasquatch exists as a real animal, individuals must die from time to time and leave their bodies. However, we know that the Sasquatch is a relatively intelligent creature – certainly it has the edge in brain power over other large North American wildlife such as cougar or bear. It may prove to be more intelligent than the gorilla and other large apes. Some researchers believe that it is but as yet this is uncertain. It is not impossible that the Sasquatch do not much care for the thought of the dead body of a family member being devoured by wolves or cougar and so take steps to hide the body from such scavengers. Perhaps they bury the body, perhaps they hide it. Either way the body would not only be hidden from wolves, but also from humans.

If this sounds a bit far fetched, it is worth bearing in mind that archaeological evidence shows that respect for the dead began very early in human evolution. The neanderthals certainly buried their dead, and there is some evidence that the much more primitive Homo erectus might have respected their dead.

An alternative explanation that would also see the dead bodies being deliberately hidden takes it that the Sasquatch would seek shelter when it felt ill. Thus, a sick or injured Sasquatch would crawl off into a dense patch of undergrowth to be safe from cougar or wolves. If that Sasquatch were to die rather than recover, its body would be left lying in a place where humans would be unlikely to find it.

  1. First of all...who says a body hasn't been found? Or bones?? Maybe someone stumbled across them and moved on. Or some dumb ass shot one (sound familiar SMEJA) and left it....

Send a bunch of people up and comb every inch of the supposed sasquatch habitat and maybe they'll find some. Or, maybe they BURY their dead. Ever think of that?

    2. As for the "evidence of tool use has never been described." Remember, of all the time we have known of the existence of Chimps, we only recently learned they use tools.

But if they are indeed doing this "Wood-knocking" and throwing rocks at people, that is tool use. You hear the knocks and you see or feel the rocks. If they are using tools to dig, how would you know?

But yes, the few cynical researchers who push this topic solely for rent and food money have chosen a less than admirable career path. Can you imagine lying and hoaxing for a living? Sheesh, where do these kind of people come from?'

Real estate agents/estate agents and politicians and car mechanics/auto shops, and auto dealerships and doctors and lawyers and bankers and corporations and goverments and the pharmaceutical industry and the list goes on, all at times (or full time) lie and hoax for a living. It's not unusual, and is regular and ongoing in business and politics.

So what's the difference? It's no shock if some sasquatch researchers do this for money, no more of a shock than people in the areas I just listed doing it.

Have you ever been made homeless by the real estate agent cruising slowly down your street in a $100,000 car, peering greedily at each property, making buy and sell decisions, and poor and average income people end up thrown out because of this person's whim and avarice?

When this person lies in order to get hold of a property, and rips off the buyer of the property by lying (for example, getting the buyer to hire a home inspector and/or appraiser who is in the agent's pocket for kickbacks, thus guaranteeing sale), how is this agent not a lying hoaxer and criminal?

Any lying or hoaxing sasquatch researcher is harmless by comparison, and provides entertainment, and doesn't deprive people of their homes. Unless the hoaxer royally rips off another individual of money, he is harmless. Why get upset?

Please save your wrath for the people and organisations in my list above.

I live in no fear that a sasquatch hoaxer is going to take my home from me. They only have the potential to waste a little of my time, though even studying a hoax can have value in sharpening your wits and senses; hoaxes can act as a test for your level of scepticism and perception, and help you hone your nonsense metre for the next report. They can help you accept or reject details in other reports which might be genuine.

If you recognise it as a hoax, it hasn't harmed you.

Also, if honest researchers get funding from interested parties, that's fine because all people should be paid for their work. All of us who have been underpaid or not paid for work know how important this is. Earning money is no crime. It's how we survive in civilisation.

How about people actually help themselves. Its not hard to contribute to society and working and earning a paycheck is a good way to do that. I loathe the socialist mentality. I'm not saying welfare should go away in its entirety. However, there should be much more strict rules. For starters a urinalysis should be conducted at least once a month. If you're wasting welfare (the working man's) money on dope then you don't need it. Furthermore, you can bet your ass that the majority of people who are contributing to the welfare pot of money are being tested for drugs. It only makes sense for a urinalysis to be conducted. There should also be a limited amount of time you can receive it. People should also have to prove they're trying to get off it by providing submitted applications to employers. We have to get this system fixed and get these people who "vote for a living" off it.

Physicists tell us Yes there are other dimensions.

Are the physicists cuckoo too? All of them? Some of them? A few of them?

Assuming these experts are right, then things must live in the other dimensions, right? There must be life in them.

If some life form were able to move from one physicist-recognized dimension to another physicist-recognized dimension, then what have you?

Since physicists have recognized the dimensions exist, what do they think about an inanimate object or a life form which moves from one to the next? Are they far from deciding this is possible?

If so, who will be the cuckoo one? Since it's more or less established that other dimensions exist, but you deny any discussion of them, you are more deranged than those whom you call cuckoo.

Just got off the phone with Jack Bindernagel and I posed this same question to him. I said "Jack why do you think no body has ever been found"? He responded "I don't give a rats ass anymore about Bigfoot, or the North American Sasquatch as it is called".

I said "Jack you can't be serious" and he responded "You bet your ass I am". I said "Jack what brought this on"? He then replied "I swim every morning after jogging 3 miles to stay in shape, I am a doctor, yet all I get is 5 minutes on the history channel while that fat ass Josh Gates gets his own show and gets to spend time in the dark with Erin Ryder". "The guy has his own lane at the McDonalds, and I doubt he even graduated high school, yet he is the star of a show along side one of the finest pieces on television. Me, I have been relegated to H2 at midnight and get to talk about feet with Jeff Meldrum, when do I get to cash in".

  17. OK, this is it folk - the REAL reason Bigfoot skeletons haven't been found... math.

Let's entertain the *experts* who say there may be 4000-6000 Bigfoot in North America - that's the US and Canada. Per Google numbers identified by SasquiNation, there are 1.4 billion acres of forest in Canada + 736,681,000 acres of forest in the US, Combined ~2.13 billion acres. Even at a high end count (6000), that's 0.000003 Bigfoot per acre.

Now remember that there are trees and underbrush on those acres and some conceal caves and gullies and other hiding spots. Oh, and Bigfoot, like most animals, move - they are reported to have legs.

Conversely there is an estimated (low-end) black bear population of 396,000 in Canada and 339,000 in the US, or 735,000 total or 0.0003 black bears per acre. Versus 0.000003 Bigfoot per acre therefore 100x as many black bears than Bigfoot in any given acre of forest. As an avid hiker I've seen 2 black bear in the wild in 20 years. I'm sure hunters see a lot more, but NO one is sweeping them away with brooms. And there are 100x more black bears in roughly the same geography.

There is nothing remotely mystical, magical, or mysterious about this flesh & blood animal. It's just frickin' rare. There are many rare animals that most of us will never see in our lifetime. I have yet to eat fillet o coelacanth.

Scale people. No one is suggesting there are 400 Bigfoot in Central Park.

    1. Great post. I personally think there are more than 6000 sasquatch in north america, but I'm basing that on the large number of sightings. They are obviously elusive so they must be more numerous than 6000 to account for all of the legitimate sightings. Just my opinion though.

      Delete
    2. Never hunted bears myself. However, we know they exist and that there are probably 100-200 times more of them roaming the forests than there are Sasquatch according to the estimates. That number could possibly be way off, meaning there may be 500-1,000 times more bears than Sasquatches.

Back to my point, while I've never hunted bear, I've hunted squirrels and dear since I was 7-8 years old and now I'm 32. During that timespan I have seen exactly 1 black bear in the Appalachian Mountains while hunting something other than bear. That's an incredible fact that lends credence as to why we have found no bones, bodies etc etc.

By the way, that bear got extremely close to me. I was sitting with my back against the tree (shot-gun in hand), and the bear came from higher up than I was (he was basically walking downhill towards me) and he couldn't see me because of the tree I was hiding behind. Anyway, I thought it may have been my Dad walking back toward where I was so I just sat still and when it was pretty much right on top of me I finally peeked around the side of the tree and there he was right beside me. It was an intense few moments for sure. I could've smoked him, he was only about 4-5 feet away at most, but I'm not a poacher. Man was my adrenaline pumping!
