Taking A Walkabout With The Australian Yowie, Clawed Hands, Excavators, Giant Wombats and Bruises... Ouch!

Editor’s Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor, Damian Bravo, a Sasquatch believer. You can join Damian's group Sasquatch Lives? on Facebook and the group's official page at www.sasquatchlives.com.

We will begin our walkabout with the first record sightings or stories report by the first English settlers who arrived on the continent of Australia in the 1700’s. At first, the settlers believed that the Yowie stories were just made up by the aborigines to scare the new settlers. What they did not realize was that the legends of the Yowie had been passed down through generations in the aboriginal tribes and they not only believed they existed but many today state that the Yowie is still roaming the bush land of Australia.

The first documented sighting happened in the year 1790, a small local newspaper in a tiny town which is now known as the great city of Sydney. After this initial report, news of the Yowie’s existence spread like wildfire through the many small towns in Australia. It is amazing to see how quickly the news spread-- if we keep in mind that at the time, not one piece of modern equipment had yet been invented like the telegraph or telephone. It seemed like the Yowie encounters became an epidemic and spread through towns and newspapers.

The aboriginal tribes of Australia have legends and folklore that go back hundreds if not thousands of years and these legends existed long before white settlers arrived in Australia. Yowie sightings are common over every part of Australia, but local Yowie researchers believe a large population is located in the Southeastern Mountains of the continent.

There are many fantastical stories of the Yowie and we’ll talk about a few of them below.

Clawed Hand 1970’s

Here is a small synopsis on the clawed hand taken from Dean Harrison’s Australian Yowie Research Webpage which was also reported on Cryptomundo website:

Found cut off in a gate in Far North Queensland. The Residents heard screaming and ran out of the house to find the cattle still and stunned. CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) and Zoologists could never link the hand to a known animal. Eventually after no answers and stinking up their house while rotting in a box, the owners threw it out.

One thing about this strange cut off hand, at the time the process of DNA identification was fairly new to the world and no known records exist that the hand was actually sent to the CSIRO of Australia and some even suggest it is the cut off hand of a wombat ( which resemble a giant version of Guiney pig). The story also states it was an old couple that found it on the gate of their farm and the clawed hand was twice the size of a normal size human hand.

See Photos below:

Below is a comparison of the mysterious cut off hand supposedly of a Yowie and a Wombat paw which some believe that hand actually is.

Another possibility, which may sound crazy, is that the large cut off clawed hand belongs to a prehistoric Giant Wombat that may still be around roaming the bush of Australia.

Prints on Excavator

In a related incident, prints on a dusty excavator were also found which seemed similar to the large clawed hand report, here are the pictures below:

OK, here is one of my favorite stories so far on the Yowie. As evident in the photographs below, this sighting was a bit painfull for the person involved, OUCH! Shawn actually posted a video about this story in Dec 2011. A man named Dean Harrison, in the video gives a description on a Yowie encounter he had. The creature basically attack him intentionaly and bruised him up real bad.

Below is the article posted on the Australian Morningstarr a few days after the supposed Yowie attack on Dean Harrison. He even let the reporter take photos of him in his birthday suit to show the damage the Yowie made on his body:

Dean Harrison's backside

Yowie hunter Dean Harrison hit the headlines last week when The Australian reported the story of him being “rugby tackled” by Australia’s Bigfoot, the Yowie. Dean was tracking Yowies in Gympie, just outside Queensland when a startled Yowie knocked him on his arse!

Dean has played down the story a little, saying he wasn’t actually attacked by the creature just knocked down by it as it ran into him. But he has given these “graphic” photographs of himself to one of the world’s leading cryptozoologists, Loren Coleman from Cryptomundo.

As you can see from the pictures Dean isn’t shy, and he suffered multiple cuts and bruises after the creature knocked him off his feet at three o’clock in the morning and sent him tumbling into a rockpool.

Here is a link to the video Shawn posted on Bigfoot Evidence about Dean Harrison’s Yowie Attack on DEC 2011 the video is pretty cool and Dean talks about his encounter in the area it actually happened.

  1. It's not good to share any info on this blog; so do your own research, people. By the way; don't forget to ignore the skeptics and the debunkers, all they do is to poison us.

    1. If by "poison" you, you mean trying to get you guys to use your brains and see through the Bigfoot charade, then yes that is what skeptics are here to do.

      Delete
    2. Yes, we must reject their reality and substitute our own.

    3. Yay, government employee number 000 Timmy Tiptoes is here!! Yippee!! Today he implies he has a brain!! Wow, that's a new one. I wonder how much the government or university pays him per post. Our tax dollars proudly at work each time Timmy Tiptoes posts. God I'm so glad. What a relief. Don't you all feel better that we are paying him to post nonsense?

    4. Pretty rude, James, considering we are paying for that Mental Disability check you get every month. We buying the tin foil you use to line your jackets, hats, and walls. We are buying the meds you forget to take.

    5. You are an ignorant and arrogant doofus Timmy and we do NOT need you to tell us how to think. It might come as a surprise to you but you are not the font of all knowledge and wisdom. We are actually quite capable of a balanced intellectual assessment of information ourselves. Some of us are very well educated, well read, and have a long life of experiences to draw on. One of those life skills is that we have learnt to discount the ranting of totally biased pseudo scientists who have an axe to grind because they do have the wit or confidence to accept that they do not know it all. So maybe instead of telling us that we are all mentally defective idiots, you should stand in front of a mirror and ponder your own motives and social skills. From where many of us stand, you really are a pitiful excuse for a human being. Sometimes, some people just need to be told.

    6. Timmy Tiptoes, there's been a shortage on tin foil and psychotropic drugs due to your hoarding obsession. I don't qualify for disability, but I'm sure if you walk into your local state assistance office and tell them your stories of bigfoot/no bigfoot and hoaxing throughout the Eureka area and Bluff Creek, they'll be happy to sign you up. Just tell them "I am bigfoot" (the claim of hoaxers).

The important thing is we've established you are a government or university paid-to-post employee. If government, it means of course if others drew disability checks or received state aid in the form of psychoactive drugs, that you wouldn't have to pay a penny for them; don't worry, the rest of us will foot the bill.

And once you get on "assistance", we'll take care of you. But I'm afraid part of your post is in error: tin foil is not covered by either food stamps or other state aid. You'll have to pay for it yourself. Maybe that's why you've been hoarding it.

Does it make a pretty hat, little Timmy Tiptoes? Get up on tiptoes so we can see you now.

    7. So you've "established" that Timmy is a skeptical mercenary. Please tell us how you managed to prove that.

  2. First off I hate that black and white film format I guess they are trying to exaggerate the dramatic effect it is just not easy on the eyes.
A bit puzzled here, Dean has been on the Yowie trail for many years now so why no visual audio recording from the event by him or his mates, perhaps there is but it is copyright or something I guess I could go find out.

    1. well on further investigation there does not seem to be any audio or video evidence from this event and the contradictory statement in the video like "you could not see your hand in front of your face" and yet he could see this yowie march up the road, turn look at him and then charge down the hill, make for an uber tall tale, sorry but I just don't buy this.
There seems to be a suggestion also that the bruises appear older then the alleged event, I find it sad that these ersatz reports ever make it into the big wide world.

  3. NOTHING about that "attack" was easy on the eyes!

  4. Dang! Just lost my appetite...bet his wife beat him up & now he's claiming it was a Yowie. Why couldn't it have been a hot chick like Jael or Ryder to show us their battle scars?...such is the way of the 'Foot...

  5. Good article. Always been interested in the Yowie and reports online are few and far between. Particularly like the hand and the theory of the giant wombat.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yep! them gate climbing giant wombats are a real worry, though it is more likely a diprotodon inspired bunyip that got caught and ripped its own hand off. Noticed that Dean could not see one minute but could the next. Must have been the clouds skidding across the moonlight I guess. Whatever!

  17. The claw or "hand" cut of in the gate is a koala claw. I realised this after seeing many images of burnt koalas in the news lately due to the numerous fires in Australia.
