Cynical Sasquatch Page on Facebook

Editor’s Note: Jonathan Poulsen has been researching the Sasquatch since 2008, but really involved himself heavily in 2011. He has since devoted his life to the near impossible challenge of verifying the existence of the Sasquatch. Shawn refers to him as the Bigfoot encyclopedia.

In the comments section on this blog, alot of people who claim to be skeptics (who are really just cynical trolls) post derogatory comments towards Sasquatch researchers and make extraordinary claims relating to the Patterson-Gimlin film.

In my humble opinion, these cynics should focus their attention on the Facebook group 'Sas-talkin' Bigfoot' rather than this serious blog dedicated to providing further insights on this extremely fascinating subject.

  6. There IS a difference. You can see that "cynic" in this context is more appropriate for the "TROLL" types, but that an honest skeptic can exist. It is the perfect right of people not to believe in Bigfoot, and also, there is no reason that they should CARE enough to go looking for answers about it. However, if one is going to propound one's opinions constantly on a site like a Bigfoot site, one should at least give the subject the honor of an honest investigation. After said "looking into it" one may reject the claimed evidence or theory as a matter of personal opinion. Appeals to authority do not suffice, actually, as that is a logical fallacy. But it is legitimate to say that Science at this point generally does not accept the existence of Bigfoot. That is a PROVISIONAL attitude or stance, until such a day as better evidence is presented or gathered. It cannot be an utter dismissal. Those who so dismiss are only entitled to their opinions, not some kind of authority; hence, when they presume to speak as if authoritatively, they are being trolls.

  7. Skeptic- someone with the common sense enough to not believe everything ANYBODY says about anything. Someone who waits for actual evidence before proclaiming that something either does or doesn't exist.

Someone who thinks critical thinking outweighs "belief systems".

Someone who hopes for the best on cryptid stuff, but anticipates that it probably doesn't exist....

Do you believe they got dropped of by UFO's?

Do you believe that they are mystical shapeshifters from the 14th dimension?

    1. You went a bit over the top there Nick but I get your point.
I personally don't think there is anything magical or alien about Sasquatch.
For the record, I really dislike "believer" and "believe in", it sounds way too religious.
That's not directed at you, it's just something I needed to get off my chest.
I've stated this before and I'll do it again. I have no problem what so ever with intelligent skeptics. I'm skeptical of a lot of evidence I see but that doesn't change my position on the existence of Bigfoot.
Too many people assume skeptics are trolls, which simply is not the case.
A troll likes to disrupt the conversation, start fights and add nothing to the topic being discussed.

    2. Yes NickB, many who believe in the existence of sasquatch are skeptics. You can see this everyday when they reject bogus footage and obvious hoaxes. It's strange some scoffers think believers would believe anything. Believers often edit and filter out a lot of nonsense.

As said before, since physicists are acknowledging multiple dimensions, if anyone or thing was able to move from one to another, it would explain much about elusiveness, apparent vanishings, etc.

It requires stepping out of the box of science, or at least looking over the edge of the box which normally restricts your vision, to see the possiblity of such a thing.

They don't have to be shapeshifters or from your "14th dimension"; they only have to have the ability to give the illusion of invisibility, which moving to one of these other dimensions (which physicists believe exist) would give the appearance of.

You could say the other dimensions don't exist, but since you are a science fan you should agree with your physicist pals that they do. If the dimensions exist, it follows that there are things in the other dimensions, and that life is occurring in the other dimensions. Surely the other dimensions aren't empty. They are only invisible to us.

Possibly through months of practice of meditation you would become aware of more than your physical surroundings. As long as you refuse to see, you won't see. That's a sure thing, so there's no discussion as long as someone holds that view of refusal. The refuser is unlikely to ever see anything, and to reject anything they might see. It's a negative state beyond skepticism.

Psychic powers: call it what you will, but not only in native Indian folklore but in modern reports, people and animals seem to be frozen by either the creatures' vocalizations or stare. A modern report told of a running deer collapsing at the sound of a sasquatch scream, stunning the animal. Native Indian tradition tells of the scream which can fell deer. Psychic power or not, the result in the modern report agrees with the native tradition.

      Delete
    3. Well if it can be believed and that is a big if 2 bigfoots were felled by a screaming 25-06 fired by Justine Smega

      Delete
    4. I never said anything about other dimension not existing, but they exist on the quantum level, particles moving betwixt them. The energy required to move and orange from one dimension to another could possibly exceed that of our entire planet!!! So there is a 0% likelyhood of a large animal engaging in similar behavior.

      Delete
    5. Good point, but on a related note - what's for dinner? Im about to shapeshift into the 4th dimension and see if they carry a large pepperoni

      Delete
  9. Dimensions are an interesting concept I like to make an analogy to ease the idea into possibilty.

Without our technology we are limited to how we experience our environment via the 5 senses, hearing, sight, touch, smell and taste, these have limitations we would not be aware of if it was not for science.
Sight deals with the visual spectrum and we know this extends above and below our human visual envelope we need technology to see beyond this but some animals and insects have the ability to do this naturally so without our visual aids we could reasonably say there is no such thing as ultra violet or infra red light and to be even more simplistic an amazing variety of simple cell life.
The same goes for the other 4 senses and technology has broadened our horizons ergo with this in mind there is reason to believe that other dimensions can exist, we just have not designed the right machines to look into them yet.

  11. Hate to turn some people off, but this is really taking on some religious overtones.

Bigfooters will have to forge a path of righteousness and build a fortified BF monastery. Then and only then, will sasquatch enlightenment become possible.

Otherwise we are defenseless against the marauding non-believers.

  12. I am a skeptic but I have never thought of myself as a cynic and I try not to appear so in comments. Regarding bigfoot, others have claimed him to be a real but I have not seen any evidence that proves that to me. The poster seems to want only those who believe in bigfoot and the PGF to reply here which seems rather boring but I think I will do as he wishes, at least, to a point. I will check back in a year to see if there is ground breaking new proof of bigfoot's existence. I think that I will find that that has not happened which is exactly the case for every year since the PGF and, in fact, the case for 400 years of our existence as a nation.

    Have fun and play nice.

  28. The reason Sastalkin' Bigfoot is feared by believers is because we engage in factual discussion. Factual discussion involves factual substantiation for any/all outlandish claims any/all believers make about any belief they may participate in. Believers become frustrated in factual discussion, often experiencing what we have identified as the 'believer rage cycle' simply due to a complete lack of fact to substantiate any belief they may have. Everyone is welcome to Sastalkin' Bigfoot, but be sure to bring facts to support your outlandish claims or you will have your 'sas' handed to you. It's been over 2 years since you posted your disapproval of Sastalkin' Bigfoot, you must have accumulated a mountain of scientific evidence to support your pretend time playing 'bigfoot ranger' in the woods by now ...haven't you?
