Cliff Barackman London Tracks Update: "Many of these features point towards the authenticity of the casts"

Now, here's a development that will interest those of you dying to know whether the London Tracks are real or not. Cliff Barackman and Dr. Jeff Meldrum had spent some time together examining the footprints and found some features that "point towards the authenticity of the casts."

For those who missed the news, the London, Oregon footprints are probably the most significant footprint find in the last 40 years. According to Barackman, "They certainly represent the largest collection of data ever retrieved from any single bigfoot site, ever."

Here's an excerpt from Cliff Barackman's blog:

[...]
I later discovered that Dr. Jeff Meldrum had an opportunity to examine a small sampling of the London casts obtained by Toby Johnson, Thom Powell, and Guy Edwards at the recent Primal Peoples gathering in Washington. After seeing the casts, Dr. Meldrum also had some concerns about their authenticity.

This past week, I sat down with Dr. Meldrum in his office and spent several hours discussing the trackway and casts. We noted the apparent lack of variation in toe position, and talked about how much change in toe position should be expected if one individual is walking over a flat, uniform substrate. We agreed that there should be relatively little variation, but indeed some.

While closely examining photographs of the casts, we discovered several examples of toe variation that were greater than first noticed, both in relative depth and splay. These examples occurred where the substrate changed from mud to sand, and at the point where the creature walked up a slight incline towards the shoreline of the reservoir. This is exactly where one would expect this sort of variation to occur: at the change in the substrate.

I missed these details because I didn't have sufficient time to closely examine each cast and contrast it with all the others before hitting the road again after my short break. As for Dr. Meldrum's initial observations, he hadn't seen enough examples of the individual casts to determine this sort of variability.

Our meeting lasted several hours, and several other features visible in the detailed photographs were discussed. Many of these features point towards the authenticity of the casts. Among these features are the mud protruding up between the toes, the consistency of the grabbing action of the first three digits (but often excluding the fourth and fifth digits), and the natural shape and contour of the elongated heel. The possibility that some of the casts recorded striations from the toe nails was also brought up.

Why not bring in dogs to track this trail? Seriously, and dont say "dogs are scared of bigfoot" I have seen dogs that would chase a military vehicle down and try to pull it down until death...so that isnt it. Get some trackers and dogs, quit with vids and casting!

    1. military vehicles don't have infrasound, that's what stops the dogs in their tracks.

    2. I will say the vast majority of dogs and I imply big, strong, and fearless dogs will have absolutely nothing to do with these creatures. I know of no one that has had any kind of luck using dogs to track these creatures and this trackway is now 4 months old, however I know some people are trying to train dogs for this. If a dog or dogs are brave enough to go after a Sasquatch one of three things will happen. One - Most of the time dog(s) will end the pursuit and come running back frightened as hell. Two - the dog(s) will be found badly wounded and broken up. Three - the dog(s) will be found badly beaten to death or completely torn apart. This is all in the witness records and easy to find. My opinion is that Sasquatch absolutely hate dogs and it may be associated to being part of the wolf line.

      As you state(paraphrasing here):

"dogs are being killed and that is easy to find and all in the witness records"

Well then, we clearly know that dogs are supposedly engaging these creatures and are being killed. They're definitely not being killed because they're running from them. That right there clearly answers that dogs are willing to go after a Sasquatch, so that means, they can be trained to track them.

      End of story.

This is the only way to get a Sasquatch (if they exist). Why researchers haven't pursued this route is absolutely unconscionable.

This "dogs are afraid" crap is a copout.

    5. Meldrum has enlisted professional trainers to train Bigfoot dogs. There is a video out there somewhere about this. Meldrum also brought tracking dogs to the Sierra Kills site but too many people had been around the site before Meldrum got there and therefore dog could not be deployed.
I agree dogs are usefull and would not necessarily be afraid of Bigfoot. The difficulty seems to be getting the right dog in the right location, at the right time.

    6. Why not put a camera around the dogs neck that way if it gets killed u will still have visual evidence of who or what killed it.

  5. As a nonbeliever these types evidence are very compelling, especially way out in a secluded ravine by an isolated lake.

However, I do refer back to the fact I had a childhood friend who faked convincing tracks every year, they even included his own distorted dermal ridges. The Eureka Times even had the Bluff creek museum gang here once, pondering my buddies prints at a remote (but frequently used) fishing trail. They commented on how much weight mustve been involved, the spacing, dermal ridges...all from a hardish, flexible strapon latex feet and all 175lbs of him just jogging down the trail.

Easier to fool the "experts" than you think. I say London is a hoax, again.

    2. I would say that you need to get your buddy to attempt to reproduce the tracks again using the "forensic gel" that you talked about. There is no way you could fool someone who is qualified to examine real tracks. Regardless of how "real" you say your friends tracks look, they are simply rubber slip-ons that can not resemble a living creatures foot.

Don't get me wrong, you could fool the average "passer by" who walked upon the tracks. You could even fool the local newspaper reporter who was sent out to report on them. But, you are not going to fool someone who studies feet and bipedal locomotion for a living. (Meldrum) I know you want so badly to disprove everything, but you friend was simply wearing a large rubber boot (if it even really happened) that an expert would recognize.

    4. Anon at 0705 I would be thrilled if they found a Bigfoot, living or dead, and had convincing evidence that i was real...as opposed to all the BS we see now in the field. I'm not here to disprove Bigfoot, the researchers and hoaxers and blind followers do that themselves.

My friend made imprints of his own feet with forensics gel, swirled his dermal ridges while drying, then used that mold to make an imprint in hard but very flexible feet he strapped to his shoes....just like a sex toy moves and flexes, when he walked and ran, the toes splayed out, they moved up in the tracks in relation to sticks and rocks within/underneath.....you say an expert cant be fooled Im telling you FOR A FACT in the late 90s they had people here from WAshington, Oregon state and Bluff creek museum, the guy brought several "real" track casts to compare them. They convinced everyone involved, including several PHDs, researchers and hes reporters. Before Meldrum or Moneymaker to be sure, then again all these were "experienced" researchers who came to Eureka CA to proclaim a huge Bigfoot find! Meanwhile about 10 or so mid 20 local guys got a real kick out of their discovery!

      Delete
    5. sorry the gel was used to imprint into liquid latex, like a two part movie mask. The feet were a bigger, flexible version of his own bare feet, and no one thought they were fake. I guarantee you Jimmie Chilcutt himself wouldve had to spend a lot of time to figure it out. And I have no idea about stride comparisons, but if my buddy called today and said "i did the London tracks" I would totally believe him, and our common experience makes us not believe in any of these tracks. we did it, why cant everyone else? was easy for him too

And we were kids in the 80s and 90s who smoked lots of good herb, played music and camped. another friend in another pro band wrote a song about "the yeti" and used a supposed Bigfoot scream from Klamath as the intro. In other words been around Bigfoot all my life, never seen a bit of evidence to believe, and I know everyone here....no one has ever claim a real belief in bigfoot. Im in a "hotbed" and no one i know has seen or believes really? thats evidence right there....feet were just kids havin fun and carrying it on for years doen the number line....

  6. The forensic gel that I am aware of is a relatively new item/process that is used by scientists to extract/compare DNA. To my knowledge, (which is limited in this area) forensic gel is not utilized to make fake castings of feet
that could be worn, etc. Perma-gel is used and can be purchased at around $300.00 but this would not be utilized for making a fake bigfoot track.

I am glad the big boys are involved in this and you can tell from the video how giddy they are. Look forward to Meldrum's analysis and the documentary that I believe Cliff is planning. I wonder if Jimmy Chilcutt has been or will to any examination. I right now believe this is the real deal due to all the preliminary evidence pointing in the Sasquatch direction, but will wait for more results.

  21. I find this exciting but also comes as a comfirmation to me... several years back I was working flagging on london road in cottage grove. It was a nice day and there wasn't much traffic. I was spacing off looking around enjoying the scenery when something up on the hill caught my eye. It was large and looked to be as tall as the first line of trees. I thought to myself it had to be some kind of farm equipment, but then it began to move, I quickly realized this was no farm equipment. It looked to be light tan/biege in color with long arms that hung down and swung with each step. It took large strides and tho it didn't seem to be moving real fast it did cover alot of ground fairly quickly. I was in shock at what I was seeing and very hesitantly got on my radio and told the flagger on the other end,"I think I just saw bigfoot". I never really talked too much about it to anyone, after all, sounds pretty crazy right?. So to hear of this story and the tracks that were found almost comes as a relief...what I saw had to of been real and not just my imagination.
