In Search Of... Trolls [Humor]

Ever wonder where trolls come from and why they do what they do? This latest episode of "In Search Of..."  (based on the "In search of..." television series from the 70s)  takes us into the world of internet trolling.

This video reminds us all to stop feeding the trolls that come on this site.

  1. "Troll" has to be the most misused term on this website. Seriously.

    1. So is spamming I guess.

    2. Agree with it being the most misused term. The Faithful vs The Skeptics -- both use it to describe anybody that doesn't agree with them. A true troll doesn't take sides, but rather comes in strictly to annoy, or sometimes target a particular opponent. I don't expect anything to change, though.

    3. I disagree with first poster. HOT CHICKS was overused in the last day or so.

    4. Lol, so true! The funniest part is they could have used TROLLS instead and been 100% accurate.

    5. So, if I only try to annoy you, then I am not a troll?

    6. Stop asking questions here, JLS, because you rarely return to discuss the answers.

    7. How many thought the troll looked like a certain FL Bigfoot researcher?

    8. Totally right anon 9:37, it looks exactly like old man boobs himself. flab da flab da flab, flabsino

    1. So true, those guys aren't skeptics they even act like trolls on their own site. And trolls always know when they're spoken about, look at the replies here already. Most Bigfoot skeptics aren't skeptics they are trolls.

    2. A skeptic wants to see all the evidence before making creating an informed opinion. And any rational observer would be skeptical when presented with any of the bigfoot evidence ever collected. I'd be as happy as anyone if it were real, but the astounding lack of convincing evidence (ie. no body) is overwhelming. So I wait to be convinced by the evidence. I fear I'll be waiting for a very long time.

  3. did anyone hear coast to coast am this past week, there was a guest on during one hour that was talking about "battling bigfoot" im looking for a link to this show...

  4. that troll was so fake and gay

  5. In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Allowing trolls on a site is a great way to turn off people with something valuable to say. This site needs to force users to logon to post then delete troll comments.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Who decides what is valuable? Maybe this site could be made over in the image of Crytomundo! That would be fun.

      Delete
    2. If we had log ins, we would never know of the adventures of Jack Bindernagel. (some of us like to laugh)

      Delete
    3. Yea, more Jack Bindernagel!

  7. Posting anonymously is a much better setup. You turn away good posters who don't want to set up an account. If you lose one good poster by doing that then you've screwed up. I really don't see a whole lot of "trolling", except for the "I just got off the phone" posts. If you're calling skepticism trolling then look up the meaning of trolling. Do you want a site where everyone agrees? That's what you'll get by doing what I think you're suggesting Shawn do. Then this place will be worthless in the grand scheme. Anyway, most of the "true troll" posts I see are avoided for the most part. So again" I don't see your point. Skepticism is NOT TROLLING. It sounds like facts are "inconvenient" to some people here.

    1. No. You think bigfoot skepticism on a bigfoot blog isn't trolling? It is most often. So it would indeed be more fruitful with more general agreement and less crap, why should bigfoot blogs be open to any geek.

Basically anything not in agreement with the possibility of sasquatch reality shouldn't be welcome, that stand the Randi geeks can wallow in.

If a more controlled environment there might be comments from more name figures in this field, right now they're staying the heck away from a place that actually could be best bigfoot blog on the block.

    2. It sounds to me that your saying you want a mutual admiration society. Your comment suggests to me that you are the type to blindly believe anything that anyone might claim as being evidence or any bullshit tall-tail of an encounter. Without applying a critical mind to claims you will end up being lead around by the nose. Have you no self respect?

  8. Calling people ugly, fat, stupid, ignorant is not skepticism. It's trolling !

    1. Matt Moneymaker is fat, stupid, and and rich off Bigfooters. That is not trolling, that is a fact.

      Delete
    2. fat moneymaker bigfoot faker

    3. Name calling is trolling. Turning a critical eye towards a questionable field is the responsibility of any good skeptic.

      Delete
  9. LOL. Nice try Shawn!
They don't bother me b/c I rarely read but a few comments per article and scan for those with obvious serious intention. I am often rewarded, even with articles I can't imagine spawning anyting intelligent!
I have had more than one laugh here, some posters have excellent wit! many posts are serious, well thought out, valuable additions to the site, sometimes more so than the blog. And, I suppose I must admit to feeling rational, once or twice, after reading a luney post.
But, I do feel, the more "credible" researchers/articles are more engaging and with the greatest potential...to entertain and educate...? I also like related content, whether arcehology/anthroplogy or the natural world.
Do your serious informative articles get as many hits as the sarcastic or "joke researcher" ones (which some days make me cringe)?

    1. An edit option might be nice so poor typers such as myself can fix the most blatant typos? On second thought, please no! That would be an endless loop for me!

  11. People get called a troll on here when they state clear consise facts that go against the bleevers fantasy world view.

Bigfoot does not exist folks. There is absolutely zero evidence to support a 10 foot ape living in north America. Call me a troll if you want but I'm not the one believing in something that has zero evidence to support it.

    1. Yes you're the perfect troll, someone wasting his time on something he doesn't believe exists only to bother those that do.

  12. Has anyone noticed that the troll picture shawn posted like the moron he is, LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE FATSINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. What if you're not a troll, but a sincere skeptic? What if you actually care whether or not a thing is true? What if you care that others are deceiving themselves and/or others?

I am not a troll. Trolls cause problems to get a response. I simply shine the light of reason on silly ideas like bigfoot, UFOs, aliens, ghosts, god, etc.

Since so many Americans believe things for bad reasons, I see myself as a necessary participant in the discussion.

I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings when I point out certain beliefs are silly, but it's for the good of society. I used to believe in a lot of crazy things, too. Guess what? I got better.

  14. I almost never leave a response, however after browsing through a ton of remarks
on this page "In Search Of... Trolls [Humor]".
I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it's okay. Could it be simply me or do a few of the remarks look as if they are coming from brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting on other online sites, I'd like to keep up
with you. Would you post a list of every one
of all your social community sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
