Top 10 Bigfoot Sites in North America

Top Secret Writers recently posted an extremely well done breakdown of the top Bigfoot sites in North America. The information is based on data gathered from 6 different sources. The breakdown gives an overview of the squatchiest national parks, states and counties.

One interesting factoid is that the part of the country to produce the largest volume of Bigfoot reports is Ohio. "It is strange, because it’s so far from the Pacific Northwest, where so many of the usual Bigfoot Sightings occur," the author wrote.

Check out the article here.

Below a map from the gathered data and a list showing the top 10 Bigfoot sites:

"It is clear from the map that the majority of sightings in Ohio come from the Northeast Quadrant of the state. Areas that are particular hot areas for Bigfoot sightings in Ohio include Portage County, Stark County, and Summit County."
Top 10 Bigfoot Sites in North America

From this brief review, it’s safe to conclude that if you are a serious Bigfoot researcher, you would want to visit one of these 10 areas to increase the potential of a Bigfoot sighting by a very large factor. The 10 most active Bigfoot areas in the U.S. are:

1. Pierce County, Washington
2. King County, Washington
3. Lewis County, Washington
4. Clackamas County, Oregon
5. Josephine County, Oregon
6. Six Rivers National Forest, California
7. Stanislaus National Forest, California
8. Portage County, Ohio
9. Stark County, Ohio
10. Summit County, Ohio

  6. NE Ohio, while sections are rural, the 3 counties listed have quite a few larger towns and suburbs (Akron, Canton, etc.). I would have expected that SE Ohio would have the most, but, then there are fewer people to encounter them.

NE Ohio has far more farming than the hilly/wooded SE Ohio areas.

IIRC, NE Ohio has more black bears than SE Ohio.

    1. You are correct. SE as well as south central Ohio are heavily wooded, compared to NE Ohio.
Salt Fork Lake, where most of the sightings occur just isn't that big.

    2. Actually there are very few black bears in NE Ohio, if you want to run into black bears in Ohio you need to near the Ohio River down around the West Virginia/Pennsylvania borders (IE SE Ohio)

    3. Activity is measured by sighting densities, not by "actual counts" of Bigfoot, tagged and tracked. So yes, higher population areas are going to be higher numerically, but not necessarily by population of actual Bigfoot.

The "Habitations" that are documented, include several with Bigfoot traveling 1/4 mile or more into suburban areas, and scrounging for "food stuffs", including Scott Carpenters "dog food" eater(s).

  7. As a true crime buff, I've also noticed that King County, WA also seems to keep homicide detectives pretty busy too. And of course, that's where Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway were 'hunting'.
As a side note, I wouldn't be surprised if someone might try to get away with a murder by blaming it on Bigfoot. Sounds as good as the guy who used the 'Twinkie' defense.

    1. True that. Many notables have suspected victims in King County. Possibly even the likes of Lucas, The Green River killer and Dayton Rogers. One interesting tidbit is that Bundy admitted his attraction to the area was the Native American names of the surrounding towns.

  8. Yep, pretty cool compilation.
Hopefully someone will take all these reports written in prose and dump into "fields" in a good data managment program or has it been done?) so we can sort and search for patterns.... something that might be valuable in illuminating norms or ranges in behavior or physicality relative to other variables, etc.
The info is availabe on the net to draw from. I have always wondered why the BFRO, as the "only scientific research group" never put their data into such a searchable format.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The BFRO has a Google Earth skin that shows the location of all reported class A & B sightings. You can zoom in on the GE format.

Notice how rich Florida is with sighting reports. No surprise. The major population centers are located on coastline (89% of the state touches the Atlantic or the Gulf of Mexico) . The interior is still very undeveloped with sparse population.

The state has protected hundreds of thousands of wildlife areas for camping, hiking & hunting. When you include three national forest and two national patks, You have a squatchy Paradise.

We are currently deploying reconyx RC60 covert game cams. They are now deployed and will remain in place until November. Information gathered so far from them on animal populations has been vital in establishing permanent locations. We do not bait or trap the area or hang things from trees. We try to leave it in a state of nature.

The most recent sightings have been from hunters. That is a good sign.

Oh, Kevin & I both believe Damian Bravo simply saw a blobsquatch. That is what's happens when you spend more time behind a keyboard instead of the woods.

He seemed like a decent person. He's just a newbie. No matter what you think of me, you cannot Skype your way to a Bigfoot sighting. That is why I like Roger & Bob. They went out and found the big guy.

    4. It is a priviledge and an honor to see Tim Fasano stop by and weigh in on this topic. As his post clearly shows he is the preeminent Bigfoot Hunter in the United States and Canada.

On a daily basis Fasano proves time and again that he is at the head of the class and is the leader of the pack as far as Bigfoot Researchers are concerned. He is not an MK Davis who tapes others others videos off a computer claiming to have conclusive evidence of an Albino Bigfoot. Nor does he tell stories of the "Gunfight at Bluff Creek that wounded Patty".

As always Tim puts his money where his mouth is paying Shawn a hefty sum to make his discoveries the focal point of articles. In a short time Fasano has done more for Bigfoot Research than the entire BFRO.

While others offer grainy footage and tall tales Tim provides real news that is relevant to the subject. It is clear that Fasano will prove the Skunk Apes existence by the end of 2012.

Who made this map? How the hell did King County get number 2 when Skamania county has 53 reports? (King only has 42) Skamania even has laws protecting Sasquatch.

  11. Taking into account that these were BFRO 'only' reported incidents doesn't tell the real story of where the majority of sightings have occurred. The number of credible Bigfoot sightings (that include more than just anecdotal evidence) in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland are far more abundant than this graph depicts.

    1. Lon, I noticed the same thing instantly when I saw this map. Of course there are a bunch of sightings in Ohio on this map, that's where Moneymaker is from and where he started Bigfooting. It all depends on who's map you are looking at. There are rural counties in both Oklahoma and Arkansas where I have just walked up to a group of locals, at a diner, convenience stores, bars, or wherever they are gathering, and there is always at least one local who has had an encounter and never even thought about reporting it to anyone. Usually if there is a group of people who haven't had their own sighting they know someone who has. I say forget these maps, as none of these groups will work together to create one comprehensive map. The maps I have had the most success with are from different hunting sights. I am in Texas and there are numerous hunting forums and sights for every state surrounding me and my own. These hunters are heading into the most remote areas on purpose whereas the sighting maps are often pointing you to well populated areas, as someone pointed out above in regards to Ohio. I think the majority of sightings are just a fluke, catching a glimpse as the big guy passes through. Just because there are a series of sightings in an area doesn't mean they are actually living there. I mean, if you find a footprint on a marked trail in a National Forest it is far more likely to be a hoax than if you found it in the middle of nowhere. Time to really get out into the bush. John

First off, That does not describe "Sasquatch". It simply describes giant people. I used to live in Wahiawa back in 98-2000. Schofield Barracks was my last duty station before I got out of the Army(65 Engineer BN). Those Polynesians get huge, so I can see this happening. Over on the North Shore of Oahu, you have Waimea Bay where we just to jump off this huge lava rock into the ocean. I flew my then Fiancee to Hawaii and took her there. She wanted a picture of her jumping off the Rock and as I took it, I slipped and my head would have struck the rock before I fell off the cliff. Suddenly I felt this hand engulf from my forearm to half way up my upper arm and this voice "Careful Bradda" as I was lifted single handedly by this guy as if I was a three year old child. Those guys get huge on average.

As for the bodies? I could tell you the same old argument that bodies do not last in those environments. But instead I will say this; Every year we get a new animal added to the "New species" list. Mostly they come from the same type environments.. Where were their bodies?

  12. Overlay this with a population density map and yep you guessed it they match.

Bigfoot is not an actual creature but simply a cultural phenomenon. There is some thing in our brain makes us believe we see hairy bipedal figures, either that or people lie a LOT, which we already know.

This is a very interesting map that corroborates the phenomenon.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The only thing you post corroborates is that you are a troll with a limited knowledge of the US. Please provide a link to this "population density map" of which you speak. Of the top 5 counties noted, only 1 has a major city (King Co - Seattle) and as someone who lives there the only BF reports in the city were at home Sonic games (Squatch, mascot). The Sonics are in OK City now - maybe that explains the sightings in Oklahoma.

Pierce and Lewis counties are huge; they include big chunks of the Cascades, like Mt Rainier. The population density is along the water, not in the mountains or even foothills where virtually all sightings occur. In addition, there are nearly as many people in the Seattle metro area as the entire state of Oregon so how do you explain the 2 Oregon counties cited, neither of which supports a city (like Portland)? And those CA counties are in the far North, sparsely populated compared to the South.

If this is your case for "critical thinking", go back to school and pay attention this time.

  14. Just got off the phone with MK Davis. The call was cut short because per usual he did not pay his phone bill.

MK managed to tell me a few things including there was recently a massacre of Bigfoots in OHIO and it is their actual blood on the map. He also said he took his camera and used it to tape a piece of Bigfoot footage off the net that proves this. He was very excited because he said you could not see any blood or skin in the original footage but it appeared to where you could see it after he taped it with his camera.

He was then cut off mid sentence but I think he said "there is only one MK Davis". If this is indeed what he was saying the prevailing view is "Thank God" along with the fact one is probably one too many.

    1. I would too Chad. I've visited the BFRO sight just for sighting locations in Alberta.
I've been to many of those areas, but because it's work related, I don't get much of a chance to survey the area. It's a bit hard to do when I'm pulling a gooseneck loaded with pipe for the oilfield.
As an upside, I've kept track of the back roads in areas where sighting have been reported.
Canada just doesn't have the amount of BF enthusiasts/researchers etc. that the U.S. does.
I do see it as an added bonus in some ways, but a negative in other ways.
