Melissa Hovey Accuses Team Tazer Bigfoot Of Making Money Off Her Bigfoot Photograph
It looks Melissa Hovey still isn't done with Phil Poling and Team Tazer Bigfoot yet. Last month, Phil Poling (aka SuperSoylent2 on YouTube) was slapped with a DMCA violation warning forcing one of his videos to be removed from YouTube as well as Facebook. The video in question included a short (2 seconds) clip of the now famous "Melissa Hovey Photo", showing the harry backside of a purported Bigfoot.
Melissa Hovey stated that she is within her rights to request take-down notices since the photo belongs to the American Bigfoot Society, the group she's in charge of.
According to a recent posting on her group's website, Hovey is now accusing Phil Poling and Team Tazer Bigfoot of profiting from her photo and wrote some "threatening" words to anyone associating with Team Tazer Bigfoot:
It is also clear to the, American Bigfoot Society, that while this witness or the, American Bigfoot Society, hasn’t made one penny off this photo, as has been alleged by these two men, Mr. Poling and Mr. Merchant in fact are making money from this photo owned by Melissa Hovey and released by the American Bigfoot Society. While the amount of money is not significant, they are making money off their YouTube videos.

We are sure they will deny this. The American Bigfoot Society has a YouTube channel, and oddly enough we do not have this linked to our vidoes in any way. Also, reading the information about YouTube Stats by Social Blade is interesting. First, you must apply for a partnership with YouTube. Why would you go through all that, if there is no profit possibility. Anyone can find a free website tracker. Also, this part of the information on YouTube Stats is interesting:
Based on the socialblade.com information, Hovey believes that the amount of money Poling and Team Tazer Bigfoot made (or would have made) is more than her witness has ever gotten for his photo. Team Tazer Bigfoot has a response video below regarding this matter.
This next part is what Team Tazer Bigfoot has a huge problem with. Reading between the lines, it seems that Hovey is dead serious about not talking to anyone who's associated with Team Tazer Bigfoot:
From here forward, any independent researcher or organization that provides support or “works with” Phil Poling, Michael Merchant or anyone associated with “Team Tazer” will not receive the support or help of the American Bigfoot Society. The American Bigfoot Society will not accept reports from, or give reports to, or provide any support to anyone who associates with Phil Poling, Michael Merchant or their organization, “Team Tazer.”
The American Bigfoot Society will not sit back and passively allow harm to come to our witnesses and we do not condone this behavior from anyone outside our organization. The American Bigfoot Society Directors would not allow this type of behavior from one of its own members, and we certainly would not condone this behavior, outside our organization.
Witnesses need to know they can trust those who identify themselves as “Bigfoot Researchers” within this community.

Yeah sure "protect witnesses confidentiality" The only reason she's complaining is because someone else did and she didn't. Especially after the, American Bigfoot Society FAILED EPIC style and lost all credibility with future witnesses after sharing a photo they where asked not to. Best thing for them to do is throw Hovey's ass out and start fresh.

Why would anyone restrict someone reporting a Bigfoot sighting? This makes me rethink my position about a lot of things.
I can understand the initial conflict with PP. But once that picture was published here didn't it come under some kind of fair use policy?
If you released it here I just don't understand why you wouldn't publish it on your site. Even more so it troubles me that you would censor people coming to your organization.
I still think the photo could be real for all the reasons I pointed out before. I'm just amazed at this.

As far as protecting a witness; with the Allagash sighting, we complied with all requests. And for those who question that sighting, (Mr.X) has agreed to speak with other legit researchers/students to confirm his account as long as his voice is masked, and his image protected. We are all about the free sharing and open discussion of data. I take offense to the statement we drew *first* blood. Unlike Hovey, this was never personal. I addressed the photo, Damian and Phil addressed the photo; and yet in spite of the FACT that Hovey started this media circus, took it upon her self to inject this into the data flow, she is intent upon somehow establishing, that TTBF attacked her. We didn't start any of this. Please someone show me where this woman was attacked. And if she has an issue with say Phil, then take it up with Phil or myself or who ever did the action. Not make blanket statements about the group. This has been explained to Hovey in the past. TTBF is a bunch of individuals all responsible for their own actions. I'm sure I'm old enough to be your mother or grandmother and it literally turns my stomach when I see it-so sorry but I guess I'll remain politically correct if I don't prefer seeing this blog full of profanity.

If someone had information and they choose to go to you and your group with the info I'm sure you realize what a courageous step that would be in the first place. Just contacting you would be a great step of faith especially reading all the skeptics statements here.
I don't understand why one would have to talk to anyone else even safely under disguise.

I agree with what you said about the feud being handled on a personal level between the initial
individuals who I believe I stated that I thought were MH and PP initially and I don't know when you made the video. But you're right that is not TTBF it's individuals in the group. I apologize if I inferred that because I did not mean to at any point in any post.
Can you or anyone look at the last comments from 9:43am and below here and explain to me how those help anything in the Bigfoot community.
I enjoy your videos, your enthusiasm, humor and knowledge about the environment...but I also see your sincerity at the end when you thank your viewers. I'm glad TTBF wants to share information with others; however, I would still need a lot of convincing to share any info I had.
By the way how would one get in touch with TTBF?

ReplyDeleteBlondie, to answer your question. If you had a witness and that witness wished to remain unknown, a legit researcher/student, would honor those wishes. Phil is a friend of mine, but his actions are not mine. I do not control what he does; and I can’t speak for him. If I understand your concerns, he made the request of Hovey to prove she had a witness. I never requested that from her. You’d have to discuss that with Phil. She made a media circus event out of this; remember she hinted at frontal photos, more photos, claimed they were as good as the Patterson video. She made outlandish claims to generate buzz and failed to provide the goods. And I strongly suspect her releasing that photo was timed, during the same period of time that T.V. show producers were sending out documents REQUESTING evidence to be presented to an expert for an upcoming show. I know this for a FACT. Interesting timing to say the least and most people were not privy to that information, until now. :) Meaning she had motive. Hovey’s behavior in this; has included her, attempting to bully those who asked valid questions; and then turning this into something personal. And now she’s threatened everybody, and posted untruths, flat out lies, and is refusing to provide any documentation to support her libelous statements. This coming from a woman who claims to be a paralegal. Go and read her facebook comments to me a while back. Where she left comments along the line of “Waaaaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa” This is her response to a simple question I posed. Childish crying noises. I think it is important to comply with the wishes of any witness if one is going to take their evidence or report. However Hovey did NOT comply with the wishes of her witness, by her own admission, which may have instigated the request Phil sent to her. She released the photos into a public forum in direct violation of what she claimed the witness requested. She then copyrighted material she didn’t own, and then filed false DMCA notifications on additional media content she didn’t own the rights to. Her behavior of late, has been a long string of borderline criminal activities. I don’t know about you, but that paints all of us in a negative light. She is fond of placing blame onto others, and seems incapable of owning up to her own actions. I didn’t send any PM’s to Hovey, so like I said, you’d need to talk to Phil about that. I don’t think I need to outline the history, as I am sure you were following the event as it unfolded, like many others did. This woman, who claims to be a Bigfoot expert and knowledgeable researcher, has no education in the field of biology, or any other area applicable to this field, that I can tell. TTBF produces more viewable content and research in a day then the ABS does in a year. Hovey formed her own private club, that she CHARGES membership fees to join, made herself the ruling Monarch, oh I mean the president of that society. She is the ruling elite of her own kingdom. It’s not like they get a change to vote someone else as the president. And to top it all off, she made the public threat to anyone who has anything to do with us. I can’t imagine anyone, who would wish to deal with a person, who thinks that sort of behavior should be condoned and accepted. I’ve read a few of Hovey’s blogs. She is a hypocrite. Her behavior is in direct conflict with own statements. She is exactly what we do not need in this arena if we have any hope of attracting dedicated scientists to this area of study. And I’d like to think we’d all benefit from that. Having science address this biological mystery; as long as people like Hovey, who think they are center of attention, who think they can bully people, fabricate data, present invalid information as factual, real scientists are going to avoid this like the plage. DeleteNow I see what the problem is. Unless this supposed witness sent all copies to ABS members, then Hovey had no right to even copyright it.
Or... she IS the creator of the photo and thus a liar.
either way I retract my "First blood" comment. She had it coming to her from the start and there was obviously more to this than we readers could know.
