Are You Up To Speed On Bigfoot History?

Check out this fascinating and informative video from SuperSoylent of Team Taser Bigfoot. Whether you need to learn about the history of Bigfoot sightings and tales, or just want to brush up, this video fits the bill.
Citing newspaper accounts, he provides a narrative of pre-1957 accounts of huge and hairy wild men inhabiting the forests and mountains of early North America. Included is tribal lore from Native Americans fitting the general description of what we know as Bigfoot or Sasquatch today. Curiously, the beast of yesteryear often displayed quite a nasty disposition compared to the relatively gentle giant we hear about these days, often suspected in savage attacks and grisly killings of unfortunate men who intruded on their territory.
This one is a must see for Bigfoot buffs or for those seeking to know more about the elusive and mysterious 'boss of the woods'.

ReplyDeleteYour closing statements were well illustrated with some of the past history. I'm glad you mentioned Leif Erickson as the author took these from his extensive memoirs he made of his trips.
ReplyDeleteMost of the past history dealt with the brutality that these creatures exhibited. I wonder how many non violent interactions there were that went unreported. Papers then as now were eager to sensationalize as that sells papers.
I also wonder what has changed now in that very very few reported encounters involve any violence, although non violent aggression is very common. Is it the sheer number of humans on this continent, now and the Sasquatch pass down to new generations that it is best to leave the people alone, or face possible extermination. Or were past settlers just so trigger happy as to bring about violent behavior?

DeleteI agree with Vicki, and most all other serious researchers: Bigfoot is less than six feet tall, and has, in all likelihood, small to medium sized feet. The oversized tracks are the product of what geologists call "Mud bleed."

DeleteThere was no stretch fur in the 60's and modern science has shown a man could not fit in patty if it was a suit. The knees and elbows are too far down from that of a humans if you were to scale a human to the size.
But as to the size... Why is everyone so hell-bent that there is only one Hominid roaming around? Washington alone, could have three. Reports range from your classic Patty Sasquatch to possible Neandrathoids and another known as a "Marked Hominid"
The fact is that if you trace human (Cro-magnon) as far back as found, we existed concurrent with four other hominids. We only have fossils because we all lived in areas where fossils are possible. It is more than plausible that Humans being Human drove the others into areas that do not leave fossils.. Such as the same places sightings are reported to this day??? forests, mountains, swamps and jungles. Not only do these areas provide cover and humans stay away from these areas, but these very same areas do not support fossilization.
Everyone keeps saying that Melba Ketchums DNA will prove nothing without a body. But no one considers the possibility that maybe what she has is already on record. And if one hominid survived this long, why not the other three?
I do know enough about bigfoot history to know that a guy named Harlan Ford took some footage in a Louisiana swamp of a bigfoot in 1963 using a home movie camera. This footage, that many bigfoot believers do not know about, pre-dates the Patterson film by five years.

DeleteI saw it on fact or faked... They came to the conclusion that it was a man in a gilly-suit. But I don't think we had those back then. I could be wrong, but if it was, it looks nothing like what we have today. The one I was issued did not look like hair. It had broad fake leaves similar to that of a Camo-net.

You guys are funny.. You talk about us being gullible because this guy "said" he was the hoaxer or that guy "Proven" he had the suit and took a still shot of him 1/2 waring it. But you do not look at the actual experts who dissected the film and came to the conclusion it could not be fakes. Costume experts have looked at it, Biologists have looked at it, Bio-mechanics experts have looked at it. Every now and then you get one expert who says "I don't think it's real" and makes a weak case, and a majority who say they feel it is real and make a strong case. The muscles flex, the knees are too low for human knees. the elbows are too low for human elbos, the shins and forearms are too short. the torso is too long, the upper arms are too long, the thighs are too long. The arguments against it are weak "It has a zipper! see where the hair on it's back parts?" yeah at the spinal colmn just like a gorillas. "The feet look fake, see how they are white on the bottom?" Yeah like the mud it is walking in? Come on lol The pro's far outweigh the cons.

I was aware of many of the stories, but there were quite a few I didn`t know about. Thanks for sharing this.
The information I find the most interesting are the accounts prior to 1950 and the various descriptions and behaviors detailed by the aboriginal tribes. You can bet that there was very little pop-culture interference, yet the accounts and descriptions are strikingly similar (with or without the violence in these accounts).

I certainly don't agree with much of what you wrote and the way you worded it, but this site does repeatedly give creedence to serial hoaxers. I like much of what is posted here; that's why I visit this site from time to time. However, I sometimes wince when I open the site and see yet another story about one of these known hoaxers, stories that give them seeming credibility.

Whether you believe in someone's credibility, it's part of news in the bigfoot world. Shawn posts what's going on among researchers and leaves it to viewers to form conclusions about what they believe. In short, he brings us the good, the bad, and the ugly. This is one of the sites that does not align itself with certain characters and bring only their work and point of view. Just the facts...
It's great that this site offers readers the opportunity to express their opinions freely, but making below the belt remarks about individuals whether you question their integrity or even dislike them overall is simply uncalled for. Cruel name calling regarding a persons physical appearance is stooping to kindergarten level argument and undermines the credibility of what you have to say. Make your point without it and your opinions will be taken more seriously.

Now, you can improve your mental health, but it's going to take some work. I have a few suggestions to get you on the right path. 1)Reduce the sodium in your diet. All angry people have high levels of sodium. 2)Start giving your money away to charities. 3)Incorporate Yoga and Tai Chi in your daily regimen. David Carradine has a few good videos on Tai Chi that you should check out. 4) Take long walks,preferably through the woods.
