Mike Rugg Wants People To Stop Shooting At Bigfoot

In this latest episode of the Bigfoot Discovery Museum Show starring Mike Rugg, he talks about the "Kill vs. No Kill" debate.

A few months ago, we ran a story about the Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy group's involvement in the shooting of a Bigfoot. Their hard stance on killing to prove its existence caused prominent Bigfoot researchers like Craig Woolheater to distance himself from the controversial group.

Watch Mike Rugg Mike give his thoughts on the "Kill vs. No Kill" debate currently going on in the Bigfoot community:

Comments

  1. Kudos for people like Woolheater and Rugg who have the right attitude about this subject--there is no reason to shoot and kill a Bigfoot. This is not big game hunting.

    2. I have it on a pretty good athority that the largest of organizations commonly recieves reports of the animals beeing, aggressive, dangerous and causing harm to people. They DON'T forward these reports on to there websight for the rest of us to read. B--O
These people who claim these long term habituations are the MOST FULL OF SH-T. I've had three different experiences with these animals AND THEY DON'T PLAY OR HANG OUT WITH HUMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
aLL these people that claim to have them haging out should take the blame for one getting SHOT if they can't produce a GOOD pic or VIDEO. You will tell some story of them haggin out for months or years and no video, THEY BEEN EATING THE WRONG MUSHROOM'S
To all the stupid Liberal hippie heads, quit assuming YOU KNOW BEST--- YOU DON'T!!
Fact is, WE DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT WERE DEALING WITH!!!! I don't and you don't!!

ANYONE WHO HAS A CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH A BIGFOOT, AND HAPPENS TO BE ARMED, MAY SHOOT ONE OUT OF SHEER FREAKING TERROR.

iF WE ACCEPT ALL THE STORIES, THEY HAVE KILLED PEOPLE, STOLE FROM PEOPLE, KIDNAPPED PEOPLE, AND COMMONLY THROW THINGS AS WELL AS USE INTEMADATION TECHNIQUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All you liberal tree hugger types better quit putting it out like these things are some kind of big lovable teddy bears, cause ther NOT!!!!!!

Quite frankly, they are probably the MOST DANGEROUS PREDITOR ON THE PLANET!!

I'M NOT PRO-KILL, I'M A REALIST. every circumstance and encounter is different, some have been extremely violent.

I like mike rugg and do value his work and opinions, but the fact is, nobody knows the origins of these creatures or thier intent. If we listen to many of the Indian legends, there may be a spiritual or even demonic aspect to this being!!!!
The way the BIGFOOT bodies are stacking up (00000). I don't think we need to worry yet.
You tree huggars could get some idiot killed telling them thier HARMLESS or making people think thier human?????

I can see it now, some idiot walks up and say's "Hi mr bigfoot, want to share my turkey sandwich and greentea?" Then gets his head ripped clean off!!!!

I promise you this, it AIN'T HUMAN!!!!!
I've seen one, and been screamed at by one, THEY AIN'T HUMAN!!!!!!!!!

    1. How is illegal to shoot something that is not supposed to be real I mean I believe in these animals but that's the only way they will be proved real also if one got shot the person would not get in trouble they would become famous for proven that they are real

      Delete
    2. Enough of them have already been killed to prove if they are real or not. That DNA study just needs to hurry up be released.

There is no reason to hunt and kill a bigfoot now - not morally, not for sport, not to control populations, not for food, not for fur.

      No reason.

Unless it's in self defense of you or your property, but that's not very bigfootish behaviour from what I've gathered so far.

    3. Those Bigfoot "kills" are hearsay until proven otherwise. Give us something better than that.

    4. @Mike, you can ask Justin Smeja how it worked out for him in a few months, maybe years.
Most people don't realize it is already illegal to even harm one under many differnt laws, although not spelled out as a Sasquatch.
The issue won't be was it illegal, it will be a question of Prosecutor's Discretion, will the DA, or whatever agency, choose to prosecute?
There may also be ways citizens can sue diretly for action, that depends on the taxonomic designation, and the details of the story.
There may also be opportunity to have a court appointed advocate for Bigfoot, even if an Ape.
If Bigfoot is shown to be Homo sapien or close, the whole landscape changes overnight legally. Even if the paper is not offical proof. Interesting isn't it.
One thing Bigfooters seem to cite to often is the lack of law regulating their activites, with almost no understanding of what may be applicable in any given individual case.
It will be very interesting if the Sierra Kills is true, I would not predict any outcome for the players, or study participants, on that.
Public opinion can drive prosecutors to act and often does.
There are many groups that advocate for animals and humans, they will join the debate (or push for regulation) with any real steps toward proof.
Can't wait to hear how PETA reacts.

I feel today the paper will never be published in a significant Journal.

The only "problem with Sasquatch" seems to be the humans in need of proving.

No one really knows what sort of medical benefits Bigfoot parts might hold for mankind. Its ground up molars might make a man huge & rock hard, or its feet could potentially be the perfect size for an over-sized ash tray. You don't really know until you try.

Bigfoot might even make good barbecue. People in other countries eat monkey meat and monkey brains and they love it. Bigfoot could be just as delicious.

God didn't put man in the driver's seat to sit back and let the lesser animals run the show. We need to constantly remind the animal kingdom that we're the boss.

I can't believe a normal person could write that nonsense, but some people just like to be evil trolls and usually bullied themselves. Let's remember he's the little guy, the new endagered species. By the way, poachers just killed 200 elephants in Africa in the last six weeks, because of superstitious Asia. And anyway, Sasquatches probably are a human species so killing them not only endangers your own life in the act (good riddance, I suppose) but would also be murder.

  15. I respectfully disagree. Mike Ruggs should be commended for his work. It takes a lot of sacrifice to dedicate your life to the world of bigfootery, but this can lead to a type of idolatry. This 100% human theory comes on the winds of rumor. I love the big guy just as much as anyone else, but still believe that even with a successful DNA study science will not be persuaded to offer any push towards legislation to protect said species without a body to verify its existence. There is no case of an animal being accepted as real based solely on DNA. I'm not trying to belittle Ketchum and her contributors in any way, but this is not how you get protection for an unknown species. Doubters will remain because this is human nature. Someone in a high position is usually worried about how his constituents perceive him, and passing protective legislation without proper evidence is a quick way to lose support from the average person who sees these creatures as a boogeyman. Video evidence leaves the same taste in most peoples mouths. We live in the age of CGI. I don't want to shoot one of these creatures myself, but if a body was to surface from anywhere I would be the first to offer my congratulations, because that person would have done more to protect this species than any amount of DNA or video ever will. Look at the current state of things guys. I have met some of the Texas crew at the Tyler conference, and I can tell you these guys are not blood thirsty big game hunters. These guys are just responsible hunters who see the big picture. No one is out to kill a Sasquatch so they can hang its head on a wall. I'm sure I will catch flack for this comment, but I hope you understand there is no bloodlust involved, only a hope for protection of the species. John

    1. My respectful rebuttal:
If people will be skeptical of this DNA study, with the rumored backing evidence, then they will also be suspicious of a body. What will we use to classify and identify said body? DNA! The physical evidence (corpse) will be held and processed in a lab (in much the same secretive manner), documented in private and presented as a paper... You still can't touch, see or otherwise verify the body yourself, except through the same way you could if the being was still alive... after publication, through pictures, documents and articles.
So, tell me... How would a dead Sasquatch be any better than samples collected from a live specimen? Would you believe Justin Smeja's story more if he told you he had a body, but it wasn't physycally presented like some sort of 'freak show' attraction? The only difference I see in the publics perception is that you have a dead BF or a live BF.

    2. Good argument David, and hopefully you are right and this DNA study is legit and comes out in a reputable publication. I do hope the overall body of science will accept a DNA study. The resistance I feel would play out would all be faced on the fact that a huge section of Biological sciences would be turned on their heads. Once again I hope you are right. I don't want to "touch" the body, but if one was taken down tomorrow and then 3 years later there was a NatGeo documentary of the autopsy, then yes, the scientific community would have to accept its existence. You are right that it is no different than a DNA study, except for the fact that they would have the body. Doesn't get much clearer with the animals body right in front of you. New sub-species are identified quite often though pictures, but they don't come with the resistance of what is widely regarded as a mythical creature. Just because we know there is a lost tribe out there does not mean the rest of the world will believe it. I think we quite often lose sight of this fact. John

    3. Couple of key points in your response to David. The study needs to be in a reputable journal, not just one that accepts the paper for publication. Following publication in that reputable journal, the DNA samples need to be available for further testing by other researchers. If there are no additional DNA samples, then the paper is essentially DOA as it will not pass the broader and much tougher test of the scientific community as a whole. The publication of the study is only the first step in a viable scientific study. The results have to be reproducible. That is a keystone of science. Once you can extract similar DNA and reproduce the sequencing, then science will take notice.

      Delete
    4. Those are great points! It is my hope that there is some truth to the statements about double-blind testing within the study and the search for 3rd parties to verify the findings upon publication. But alas, time will have to tell. I'm not counting on the DNA study to be the "end all"... But it could be a pretty damn good starting point.

End result is this is finally over and I can once again enter the woods each fall and not have to worry about the liberal tree huggers destroying my tree stand. Another reason for my desire to end this is the possibility of finaly having another species to hunt. I suspect a bigfoot rug would keep me warm during the winter months.

  28. Even if Sasquatches turn out to be apes, it'll be illegal to hunt and kill them no question about that. Which is also why it's wrong to do, as proof, in the first place. And since apes not what they are apparently, you will face death yourself if you hurt them, either punished by their own hands or our own laws. The same to be written laws that'll protect the species' rights. What we're seeing here, from all the blood-thirsties is their personal disappointment this is all true after all. They'd so hoped there to be no reality to the Bigfoot lore, now that there is they're ever so upset having hoped so badly it could've stayed a fantasy. Alas, it's not.
