The next time you're hiking and you hear this, it's most likely Bigfoot [Samurai Chatter]
During the 1970s, Ron Moorehead and Al Berry recorded hours of vocalizations purported to be those of a family of Bigfoots from a remote location in the Stanislaus National Forest, above Sonora California. The tape contained a series of disputed audio recordings of the alleged chatter of Bigfoot. This recording is famously known as the "Sierra Sounds".
The video below is Chris Noel's audio compilation of Bigfoot speech. Researchers like to call these sounds 'Samurai Chatter'. You may also want to listen for wood knocks and rock clacking, all signs of Bigfoots being in the area.

I am glad you have come back round to sound files Shawn. What is missing with so many of these is any serious or complete comparison to know possible animals, or even human vocals in similar settings. The issue here for me is not, are these authentic, but how can one demonstrate they are, convincingly? Google some of those posting their spectral analysis of purported BF sounds and the work is advancing, more current than this. But, still plauged by real issues for menaingful conclusions from such recordings. If you were a skeptic/scientist, what would it take to convince you recordings like these are actual Bigfoots? If BF's were "proven" would it change your answer?
ReplyDeleteFirst thanks SHAWN for putting this up.
ReplyDeleteI have posted about R Scott Nelson before and most people here probably know about him. For those who don't click on Samuria Chatter above and it gives info. about him and his work.
I think his work is groundbreaking and we are lucky to have him onboard. There have been quite a few encounter where witnesses have talked about hearing guttural, fast paced, mono syllable speech chatter that did not make since.
It is just another mystery for now of this magnificent creature.

For those of you that believe the word of Janice Carter, and I am not one of them, but she gives her interpretations of the words spoken on her website...bigfootreferenceguide.com. Like I said I dont beleive everything she says about her experiences, but the words she suggest do seem to match.
DeleteIt seems if someone wanted and effective call blasting, it would be the Samurai chatter and not the howls. A good researcher might even want to learn how to imitate these sounds. I have to admit, I don't know much about the context in which they were captured and their authenticity, but they are seriously chilling. The ones that sound angry at the beginning, sound territorial and that flies against what we assume about BF that he would give up his ground to intruders and retreat. It seems we would have many angry confrontations if they were, in fact, territorial.
ReplyDeleteYou know Autumn,I thought of that awhile back.I was going to record the sounds and play it back in the forest instead of,or in conjunction with knocks.
DeleteSince I have no idea what the vocalizations mean,I thought it might be offensive to them.I'd rather not upset something way bigger than me,lol.
I never get tired of hearing these vocals.
Goog dpoint. Oddly, just saw old episode of McHale's Navy and a scene with similar sounding exchange, no kidding, intended for laughs. I was wondering if they could pull the laugh track out and overlay the researcher's voices? But, if real it would be a remarkable recording. Just no way of knowing really, beyond the witness of the researcher's or some external way to analyze and none is shown here.
ReplyDeleteThese tapes were analysed in a yearlong study at the University of Wyoming. A professional paper was written and presented at an academic symposium at the University of British Columbia in 1978, and then published by the University Press in a 1980 anthology,"Manlike Monsters On Trial". The paper concluded that the sounds were spontaneous and occurred at the time of recording. There was no evidence of prior recording or tape speed manipulation.
DeleteAlso a Dr. R. Lynn Kirlin, professor of electrical engineering determined two or more creatures are speaking. The higher-pitched voice is within the human range, however the lower-pitched voice clearly is not. That is, it was produced out of a vocal tract so long in length it would have to be produced by a man of gigantic size, height, and weight.

I had no idea Chuck. Thanks for the info!
DeleteI don't care what made them noises if I heard them in the forest I would crap myself. Love the way in the latter part of the video it sounds almost like its trying to replicate us, maybe even toying with the guys recording, so cool (if its real) .
ReplyDeleteFinding the recordings online more enjoyable than the blobsquatch videos at the moment. Something fascinating about them. Suppose strange noises in the forest at night always give a sence of unease.
Anywhere I can get this recordings in full for free?
DeleteThose first sounds were scary as sh*t.. That is so primal. Get me heck outtaa here!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing and interesting stuff. Almost hard to believe they are real. Wow!
I can listen to these vocalizations over and over.
ReplyDeleteGood post Shawn!
Me to, but after the 4th or 5th time i start to get the "look" from the wife. Definitely my favorite bigfoot related phenomenon.
DeleteMaybe Nelson should be there alongside Ketchum, when she eventually presents her study results, after all when there's a near-human species out there there's also speech involved.
ReplyDeleteThey might not be territorial as a species but i think there has to be groups that are more aggressive then others. But that's a dream encounter, it was amazing when he spoke to it and it answered him.
ReplyDeleteIt seems odd that a hoaxer would select "samurai chatter" as the way to hoax sasquatch speech. This adds to the credibility of the recording.
ReplyDeleteHowever, a skeptic could just as well state that "samurai chatter" shows this to be a ridiculous hoax, as no bigfoot would sound like this.
So, unfortunately, as with all things bigfoot, this recording, like other recordings, remains in the inconclusive category.
Translation: You jack asses! There are some humans over there recording us.
ReplyDeleteHow close were these squatches from the guys who made the recordings? Would someone really sit there with a recorder for a long period of time with this going on and not high tail it out of there?
ReplyDeletei doubt this was his first encounter with that type of activity cause he seemed really calm
ReplyDeleteYou are right. This was an ongoing investigation for two or three years or more. I think they still going up to this camp and Mr. Nelson is now directly involved.

I think that the last section of the clip was taken from an old John Belushi skit.
ReplyDeleteOk, so now I've heard 2 stories on these voices.
ReplyDeleteFirst I heard that the researchers in the 70s were habituating the BFs with food and that the animals were fighting over the food. The aggressive voices were toward one another.
Now I heard that the human like vocals were to get the humans to leave the woods after the aggressive sounds didn't work.
It would be cool if they were real, I just don't know if that is the case.
The idea of a study being done is cool too but why is it so difficult to find this stuff.
PDF version of the paper doesn't exist?
The other day I had a coworker deliver to me Proudly his PhD dissertation in raw 1965 form.
Anyhow it would be cool.
