Is 2012 the year of the Sasquatch?

"This is the year of the sasquatch."

This prediction has been played back hundreds of times in interviews and conferences. John Green's book from 1970 has the title "YEAR OF THE SASQUATCH". And at a B.C. Conference last year, Adrian Erickson announced that 2011 would be the year that the animal would be conclusively proven, and that 2011 was going to be the year of the sasquatch.

Now that rumors about the Bigfoot DNA peer review is currently underway and finishing up, the Olympic Project has already scheduled expeditions for Washington State. "This is the year of the Sasquatch, come be part of it!" Derek Randles wrote on his website.

We are in the process of planning our 2012 expedition schedule!

Olympic National Forest expedition 1, March 9th through March 11th.

This is the first of many planned expeditions on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. This expedition will be led by Derek Randles as well as other members of the Olympic Project. Expedition activity's include, Game Camera set up and field placement, track casting instruction, night recon with Thermal gear, on and off trail hiking, evidence gathering techniques, Sasquatch calling techniques and a round table discussion with guest speakers. This is a "hands on expedition", with close support and instruction from our field experts.

We will be based at the Olympic Project headquarters on the west end of Crecent Lake, at the foot of beautiful Mt Muller. We will be serving three large meals, and accommodations are available on site.

This promises to be a trip you'll not soon forget.

This is the year of the Sasquatch, come be part of it!

So far, Adrian Erickson has been relatively quiet this year since he shutdown his website www.sasquatchthequest.com a few months ago. We'll keep our eyes and ears open for you in case he makes an announcement about this year being another year of the sasquatch.

  2. Could be,I just hope it is not accomplished through the death of one.

  3. I personally think that has already happened :(

This is when the "red eyed" bigfoot came to be.

  4. If Sasquatches are to be proven for protection why is OP scheduling tour groups of Bigfoot "Research?" Everyone seems able to see the Biscardi Expeditions as stupid, but don't see it in the other groups. There is no difference, except Biscardi never charged anyone. The BFRO takes out tens of people at a time for hundreds each, OP seems to be right there with them, doing what they call research. 2012 would be a good year if groups like that were outlawed and guys like Smeja jailed.

  5. GREAT WE WILL PROVE BIGFOOT IS REAL THEN THE WORLD WILL END.....

  6. 2012 is also to be the end of the world, or at least as we know it if you believe in the Mayan and other ancient culture calendars and prophecies.

I expect neither will happen but there will be a lot of TV programs and written literature about each.

  7. Great post! Let's put in a prediction that BF will be proven on December 21, 2012 and Mayan calendar realized that finding our "other" has to create a reset button in man's arrogance. This is definitely the year of Squatch, but I suspect this fervor will last a few years at least. And, to everyone's dismay the circus bunch of characters will grow. (cue the circus music)

  8. im really hoping 2012 will bring us the truth, and will leave the hoaxers and people looking to make money, choking on clumps of hair

  9. I hope so as well Anon. My fear is that if it is proven a species you will end up with more hoaxes than ever with every crazy out there wanting to stake a 'I told you so ' claim and here is my Bf experience. I hope and trust legislation would be enacted that would have nuisance provisions that would eliminate these so-called BF expeditions. If proven as a species, without those protections, I am certain a cottage industry will emerge much like the whale spotting tours and African camera safaris. These types of 'viewing expeditions' and species pressure would be disastrous. Scientific research is fine, but no more Finding Bigfoot shows once he/she is found.

  10. To Mr. Mike. I am sad to say you are probably right. Viewing expeditions could only result in driving these primates away into the deep deep forest, or worse serious altercations with man. Then you have the local sheriff who can not wait to form a deputy posse and go out and kill the alleged Bigfoot attacker, much as they do with other wild animals that encroach upon towns.

Maybe it is better to hope the status quo prevails.

  11. someone in California has written a bill of protection I think, seems we shpould know more about the effort. Also, Federal Legislation under the commerce clause might work, seeing as how there is interstate industry attached to the "searching" for BF that could be regulated across all states w/o having to go through executive agencies such as Forest Service and Interior Department. Can you think of any corporate or other special interests with deep pockets that will buy your congressman's vote through lobies against Sas protection? LOL
We should be starting now to sculpt that type of bill.

  12. We shall see about the proving of sasquatch. Every year its oh this will be the year, oh wait next year will be yada yada yada. Then there's the whole world endings thing. The way I see it the Mayan's wrote that calendar thousands of years ago, how do we know the guys didn't just say "to hell with this we went to 2012 somebody else can pick up where we left off and finish, were not gonna be around anyways". Hell I'd a done it that way just to screw with people. How do we know a couple of smart asses didn't do that very same thing and say why don't we mess with them even more and say the worlds gonna end. Big chuckled from all.......

  13. I think Mike's right, we'll see more stupid hoaxes in the future when it's proven real, may even see CGI Bigfoot videos from now on. I'd say it really is the end of the world then, won't get more nuts than that. lol Probably no more sitcoms like Finding Bigfoot either. But a tourist industry? I think not. Once Dr. Ketchum's report is out, there should be little doubt it is in fact a 'human' of some sort, and that means rights with absolute protection and zero exploitation. Hopefully we'll see more off-limits areas so they'll be left alone, even though they'll move wherever they please. Us knowing about them won't matter much, they surely must think we already know since we've encountered them many times.

  14. James, I've thought the same thing. The mayans couldn't make the calendar go on forever because their civilization collapsed. I doubt that their intention was to say "this is the day the world ends." And if it was, what makes them so omnipotent? Unless maybe it was told to them by aliens. I don't think it will be the year bigfoot is proven to exist. Not sure I'll live long enough to see that day, and I'm a relatively young man. Whatever the Ketchum study reveals, I don't think it will convince the nonbeleivers or provide the sort of evidence required to create legislation to protect the species.

  15. @ last annoymous

What makes you think the Ketchum study won't have enough evidence to prove the existance. By the sounds of it, they should have plenty of DNA, hide/tissue samples and video and photographic evidence to do the job. It might not convince all skeptics, but it might convince enough people in science and government positions to rethink and start investing some dollars in reserch. No?

  16. Time will tell Beer-man, I just think it's a bunch of hype. Hope it's more than that. Why did the Erickson project take their website down? That concerns me. It doesn't seem like something that a group of researchers (who in their minds have concrete bigfoot proof) would do. They should have that site going, posting updates, promoting the documentary showing teasers, and engaging the bigfoot community. Ater all, Ketchum said we will know the results of the dna analysis soon. IMHO.

  17. My feelings on the shutdown of the website has to do with the low profile the study has to be in. Its not only Ericksons website that was taken down, there has also been other photos and videos that have had to be removed at he request of the team/journal. Reason being, its not only the DNA that is under review, but the whole accumilation of all the evidence as being part of one big paper. What is DNA evidence by itself, not much to convince anybody, but the the complete package together to be released as one big study should be enought too convince most.
