According to Dr. Melba Ketchum, Mitt Romney Will Eat Crow [Bigfoot DNA Study]

After controversial remarks by Governor Mitt Romney at the Fox News South Carolina debate, the Bigfoot community seemed to be pulling their support. In a recent video by a media strategy company, even Bigfoot decided to pull his support and went with Newt Gingrich. Click here to watch the video.

Still licking his wounds from the fallout, it looks like Romney may have also lost Dr. Melba Ketchum's vote. On Facebook this morning Dr. Ketchum wrote this about Mitt Romney's Biggest-Hoax-Since-Bigfoot remark:
I can't help but wonder what Romney will say when all is said and done. You can bet the news media will remember his comments and they will come back to haunt him, LOL.

There is also news that the Bigfoot DNA study is currently under a press embargo. This is good news for people who have been waiting for the study to be release. If the press embargo is in effect, this can possibly mean that the peer-review process may have been completed.

Here's what Robert Lindsay wrote on Friday about the possible embargo:

Dr. Melba Ketchum DNA study may be in embargo, and embargo may be ending soon. We reported recently that Ketchum’s Bigfoot DNA study may be in press embargo. Interestingly, one can find out with a bit of searching which articles are currently under embargo. The search won’t tell you the name of the publication that set the embargo or the title or author of the article embargoed, but it does give you a date and some keywords.

We recently learned that there is an article under embargo with the keywords Darwin, evolution and animals. The embargo is set to lift on Sunday, January 22, 2012, in two days. This could possibly be the Ketchum study, but we don’t know for sure.

Further evidence suggesting that the study is under embargo is that Ketchum’s Facebook page has gone deathly silent, where there were formerly updates almost every day. It went silent only just recently.

Also, Bigfoot Forums has gone to “members only” just today. There were discussions on BF that as soon as the study was released, BF would have to go to members only because so many people would be going to the site that it would get overloaded. The site is already overloaded quite often, and frankly whatever servers they are using are crap. That is one of the snail slowest sites on the Internet. I believe that BF may know that the release of the study is impending very soon, and this is why they went to members only.

The problem is that now I can’t read the site, and it’s a great source of knowledge, even if the management of the site are some of the biggest idiots on the whole Internet.

In addition, Ed Smith continues to make comments that suggest that the study is under embargo. We will deal with those comments now.

  3. Well, with examples like Dyer and Biscardi from years ago, I'm sure Ketchum isn't dumb enough to lead up a lot of hype and have nothing to show for it. I think my biggest worry is that the DNA will show a variant of human DNA that is technically possible, though low probability and then the mad debate begins.

  4. Another cheesy Facebook comment. Lack of self discipline, itchy typing fingers, a need to be first, sarcastic, I told you so. Short of professional, long on Bigfootness.

  5. The comment above just sounds like the typical bitterness from those unwilling to ever let it end, well, it probably will end very soon with the scientific discovery of this unknown humanlike species. Somebody has to be first and right, they can't all be first and they can't all be right, so why shouldn't it be Dr. Ketchum. It would appear she indeed pulled the longest straw here, so to speak. The skeptics should get over themselves, not act like little kids at the dinner table.

  6. I have to say, I'm getting pretty excited. She seems very sure of herself, and I feel that the overall silence has been a very good sign, as opposed to how many read that.

I have the distinct feeling we are going to witnessing history soon.

Or, it will be a huge disappointment.

    I'm hoping for the former!!!!

  7. I still think she just needs to shut up and shock the world. This smells so much like WikiLeaks just constant blah blah blah and when its all said and done its just a bunch of nothing.

Like they say in Football when you score a touchdown, act like you been there before.

  8. I guarentee that skeptics will not accept DNA evidence as proof of bigfoot's existence. No matter how convincing it may be, skeptics will find an excuse to refute it.

There have already been bigfoot related DNA studies with "unknown primate" as the findings result. What happened to these studies? Did they prove the existence of bigfoot to science/skeptics?

This is why, no matter how much you may be opposed to the idea, a specimen is and will always remain the only way that the existence of bigfoot will be proven.

Some of you seem to always cry, "DNA will be enough proof; DNA evidence is enough to convict someone in court." Well, so are eyewitness accounts. Have eyewitness accounts led to the acceptance of bigfoot by science?

To prove the existence of bigfoot to science and the world at large, the focus must be on obtaining a specimen. That's it. Forget everything else. Thermal imaging, footage, foot prints, scat, hair samples, vocal recordings, etc. will only convince those who already believe in bigfoot's existence. They will do nothing to prove bigfoot's existence to science/non-believers.

  9. Even after Ketchum publishes, Romney may come to believe in bigfoot, but bigfoots will still not believe in Romney.

  10. I predict we are definitely T minus 90 days. The recent leaks indicate that the paper was accepted, and that they now need a publication date. Journals typically have a backlog of accepted articles, so a 30-day publication date is very unlikely. Typically, backlog is ~90days.

  11. What I think is different about this study (potentially) is that there are multiple samples from multiple areas which presumably would show the existence of a new species, as opposed to a single sample which can be more easily ignored. If there are MANY samples which show the same DNA patterns indicating an unknown hominid, it is much much harder to disregard. Also, no one has submitted a paper to a major scientific journal either, they've just paid to have the samples tested and then released results themselves. This will be *peer reviewed* which means scientific minds will have already confronted the data, and not found it too lacking to say the least. This is not your daddy's DNA study

  12. Those were excellent points Jordan.

I would like to take it a step further and think that there will be other evidence presented with DNA evidence. There has been so many photos, ones that have been seen and removed and ones we've never seen before. (maybe Smeja's bigfoot baby?). I believe this is not only going to just "DNA", but a collection of evidence that will be put together and presented in a way to eliminate the skeptics from being able to dismiss it.

Keeping my fingers crossed and getting excited.............

  13. I think the Dr's Facebook posts are embarassing and not worthy of the magnitude and meaning of rhe study.
How it is received remains to be seen. If this speculation prior to publication is any indication we shall have plenty of fodder, on both sides, in the future.
What public honor is bestowed on the participants regarding their roles as discoverer's is but a footnote in understanding unless that notoriety is parlayed into something more meaningful.
"Proving" the existence of a Wild Type Human, already known to thousands, once done becomes moot compared to the issues, obligations, and opportunites that will face us.
Given what we know, publication in a respected Journal might just be an event that some of us regret rather than celebrate.

  14. @Jordan - Yes. Ketchum is right to go through the agonizing process of peer review. It is the only way to avoid dismissal. The statistics across samples builds much greater strength of argument than a random sample. That is how hoaxing can be rules out.

  15. As someone who has been waiting for the irrefutable proof of bigfoot's existence for over thirty years, I doubt that Romney will be eating crow. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.

  16. I have never ever posted anything about bigfoot.
I did send larry surface one email,i know the area larry is in,and i know what is there.
I have sat on the sidelines and waited.
I've never told my wife of 25 years what my family has kept secret.
I stayed away from the freak show going on right now at salt fork lake.
My only concern is for "them" they must be protected!Just as they have been by many generations.
They wont be safe when this hits and their wont be one set of back country that will be safe from the idiots that will flood them.
That poster for the erickson project is repugnant.
    They are not apes.
please do all you can to protect them!
THEY ARE LIKE CHILDREN not monsters!

    1. Dude what's wrong with apes. If you believe in Evolution than its a possibility that BF is the missing link. If you believe in creation than its another amazing created creature.

I'm kind of tired of yahooos with their family experiences and blah blah blah. If anything us having confirmation of these creatures only helps. What if were destroying their habitat? We can't protect them if we don't have actual knowledge of them.

  18. Robert Morgon is from Ohio, followed, ignored and maligened by the Matt Moneymaker types for his views. An author and researcher who needs to be rediscovered. His view is on the human side with some remarkable claims. One of the few published with serious, intelligent, compassionate, in field-time over decades. I haven't read his new book and thinking I should.

  19. The reason Dr. Ketchum sounds so confident could be because she knows she's right, her good samples are plentiful apparently, and that leaves little room for mistakes. With so much DNA, it really doesn't matter what some mad curiosity seeking fringe still left will say, not now science has spoken conclusively. So since the species is there, that should mean a body could eventually be seen too for the circus freaks. Maybe already in connection with this. DNA you can't fake, that means Sasquatches are out there, regardless of the body crowd. It's already difficult to get a body so far, that won't change, but the proof bodies exist out there is here. Probably.

  20. Bigfoot is such a demeaning name, Sasquatch on the other hand has class. Show this unknown brother species some respect, like Native Americans always did, they shed nothing but tears over this mockery and industrialized raping. It's really high time we finish this insanity and get to the bottom of it, ape or not. Most likely not ape which is a theory not making much sense anyway, we'll be giggling at that no-brainer soon I feel.

  21. There been much discussion on what, if any effects on the evolutionary theory this DNA study might show?

  22. Melba's photo has to go, it's creepy and dated. Not honest.

  23. The big question will now be how BF DNA compares to Flo. But Flo's condition makes DNA extraction difficult.

  24. Flo? Do you mean Flo from the Progressive Insurance commercials.

  25. No one will even remember who Romney is by the time this paper comes out. Get with it, Ketchum!
