Bob Gimlin's Bigfoot Encounter at Bluff Creek [Video]
Bob Gimlin speaks of the events leading up to that day encountering "Patty" with Roger Patterson in October of 1967. This speech took place in May 2010 at the Salt Fork Conference in Ohio.
There was a similar conference like this in 2004 at the Third Annual Southern Crypto Conference where M.K. Davis won the "Crypto Finding of the Year" award for his work with the Patterson/Gimlin film and Bob Gimlin won the "Smokey Crabtree Steward of Cryptozoology" award for his efforts to share his story with enthusiasts across the country.
Gimlin said that people always ask him why he didn't shoot the creature, because Gimlin had his rifle in hand when he came across the Bigfoot. Gimlin said that skeptics had told him that the footage was meaningless without a body. "I didn't shoot because things were happening really fast," he said. "As long as it was walking away and posed no threat I had no reason to shoot it."

Why would Gimlin want to shoot Heironimus? I mean, he might want to shoot him NOW, but...;)
ReplyDeleteIt is funny because if you were to design a person to be the witness to the best piece of evidence so it would have the most credibility it would be a guy like Gimlin. I say this because I have seen him talk about this on a number of occassions. People still seem to split hairs even though he has always said things that were 100% reasonable.
ReplyDeleteWho would honestly shoot any animal that was retreating just to kill it. Everything did happen fast and most people would not shoot in that situation.
Roger Patterson was no different than Roger Staubach or Roger Ebert in terms of credibility. He is judged harsher than a politican- those who say he was not "honorable" base it on conduct that is so common among normal everyday people nobody bats an eyelash when it does. Nobody would be considered "credible" if all our private mistakes were made public.
And not for nothing but this was the late 1960s- the M16 was just introduced- so really what was Gimlin packing. Questioning the ability of the rifle may have something to do with it
Notice even Bob Gimlin was speaking about 2 others nearby. Roger & Bob knew there were other Bigfoot in that sandbar area, someday you will know the Complete Story about that day on Bluff Creek !
ReplyDeleteThanks Shawn for putting this up. I had seen this video last year and enjoyed it just as much today. One can not come away seeing this and not believe Bob Gimlin, and wish to hell they were in his shoes on that historic day. After I first saw this last year I researched Bob Gimlin and found he had a stellar reputation at that time ( and today ), was very well thought of by his neighbors and associates, and was considered the best horseman in Washington. Bob Heironimus' reputation was just the opposite. I hope to have the honor of meeting Mr. Gimlin soon.

If you step back and leave emotion out of it you can see why wild theories like the killing fields one gain steam.
ReplyDeleteYou do not notice every single thing every single minute and the world does not stop when you are looking the other way. Patterson was filming and Gimlin was watching- there could have been other Sasquatch in the area they did not see and they boyh could not see what was going on behind every tree. Because you can't say Patterson and Gimlin did not miss anything- you can speculate they intentionally ignored things and they cant disprove speculation.
It's amazing that I heard him mention two ther Bigfoot in the area.Tom at The Crypto Hunters did a breakdown of the video and I could make out at least one more.keefofus12 also did a breakdown quite awhile ago showing the same thing.
ReplyDeleteVery,very interesting.
There are only two ways to slice it. Either Bob Gimlin is lying, or bigfoot is real. Gimlin sure sounds sincere.
ReplyDeleteWell, the possible but unlikely third way to slice it is that Gimlin was not aware of a hoax set up by Patterson. In other words, Gimlin wasn't in on it. However, would you want to be a guy in a bigfoot suit knowing that one of the guys who is not in on it is carrying a rifle.
ReplyDeleteTo you two above, a fourth way to slice it is that both Patterson and Gimlin were hoaxed by someone else.
ReplyDeleteWould any of you want to shoot Fasano's Ninja in the butt cheeks?
ReplyDeleteWould any of you want to shoot the PA Go Cart Animal in the big toe?
These guys are believable compared to the Sierra Kills guys. Those guys to me look like fame hungry con artists.
