This fear-inducing biped is probably what it feels like when you see a Bigfoot for the first time [Video]

PETMAN by Boston Dynamics

I'm not sure how I will feel if I ever get a chance to meet our giant hairy friend. Will I feel fear? Awe? Or Wonder? Or I might just do what everyone else does: Just stand still and stare.

This is exactly how I felt when I first watched this latest video by Boston Dynamics. They're the people who brought you that BigDog video where it shows a quadruped robot traversing on ice and snow, and demoing its walking gait similar to a real animal. That was creepy. But this new bipedal robot is even more creepier and will put the fear of God in you.

According to Engadget:

PETMAN has gotten a more anatomically-correct body and some arms -- giving it some push-up prowess to go with its jaunty gait. As the video below demonstrates, this robot isn't a T1000 just yet, but is seems certain PETMAN and its progeny will be running and leaping over us meatbags on the way to the top of the evolutionary food chain soon enough. So our anthropomorphic replacements are on the way, but there's no need for full-blown panic... yet.
