Squatch Fest Makes The Headlines

Squatch Fest was a big hit and made the news as the third annual event wound down. And look who was there, none other than Cliff Barackman!

Roland Shaw has been intrigued by Bigfoot since he was young, but a mysterious encounter in remote Snohomish County seven years “exploded” his interest in the creature from North American folklore.

Shaw, a 27-year-old Lake Stevens, Wash., resident, doesn’t like to go into the specifics of his encounter. All that he would reveal Saturday was that he and three other friends were driving on mountain roads at 1 a.m. when they stumbled upon a Bigfoot family.

For Shaw, events like Longview’s annual Squatch Fest are a chance for people who have had similar sightings, or are simply interested in Bigfoot, to gather, swap stories and learn a little more about the infamous and reclusive creature. About 2,000 people were expected to attend the event Saturday hosted by the Kelso Longview Chamber of Commerce at the Cowlitz County Convention Center.
