A Large Stump Stood Up And Walked Away

From SasquatchChronicles.com:

A listener writes “I wanted to tell you about my encounters. First off I live in Canada’s smallest province Prince Edward Island and I had my first encounter back in 1997 or so it was summer time around august I believe.

Every night before I went to bed I use to walk my old dog along a dirt path between a grain field and a potato field right up to the tree line and a small stand of trees anyways everything was normal until I got close to the tree line and then my dog started to act weird she was yelping and crying and sunk right low on her belly with her tail between her legs I thought what is wrong with her because she never did this before it was then that I heard movement along the tree line.

I looked over and what looked like a large stump or a small spruce tree stood up and walked into the small stand of trees!! I took off running back home as fast as I could all the while I could hear a whooping kinda like the sound you use to play in the old intro for your show coming from the trees it changed my life for both good and bad. To this day I wont go near the woods at night not for a million dollars.

    1. Jesus christ bigfootery is just a high school drama circus show isnt it. It never was about an actual creature was it.

      Nonsense the lot of it.

    2. Gimlin should have entered the field of diplomacy - he has a real knack for it.

Much has been said of a (unofficial) offer of a large sum of money to Gimlin for a confession. I'm not sure he could ever be tempted by any amount offered if it was a hoax (and for the record I believe it was). He is absolutely beloved by all who believe in Bigfoot and has achieved rock star status in the Bigfoot community. I think he would forgo the money rather than let all his adoring fans down.

There might still be a chance if his wife survives him and does a "tell all". But unless it comes directly from his own lips all the believers would just label it fake news.

    3. Here is what happened. Bob Gimlin hasn't said those things YET. However, he will say them sometime in the future. Dr. Johnson will someday have a conversation with Bob and will transcribe the conversation. He will then give a copy of the transcription to a Bigfoot. The Bigfoot will go back in time and come out a portal and hand the transcript to Dr. Johnson in 2016.

      Simple, isn't it.

    4. In my view Dr. Johnson is a manipulative bully using his skills as a psychologist to get people to confirm what he says to enhance HIS reputation in the Bigfoot community. He acts like he doesn't care what others think but it's quite apparent he certainly does. At the conference he absolutely insisted that those who visited his site get up and stand with him even though they were hesitant and looked reluctant to do so.

I see Gimlin as a good old boy who got caught up in all of this and tries to make the best of it. He doesn't want to disappoint anyone and since he has no children now looks upon those in the Bigfoot community as his extended family. You never hear much about his wife and I have never heard of her accompanying him to any conference. I have no doubt that any chance of a confession will die with him.

    9. Oh dear!

This is what happens when too many eggs are put in a little baskets. How long has the assumption been pushed about Gimlin's affiliation with Johnson? It's amazing watching the BFE pseudosceptics contradict themselves, then make excuses, THEN deflect. For example... Johnson is, "a pathological liar and untrustworthy", yet YOU believed him when he said that Gimlin was in affiliation & writing forewords in his book. That means, you were duped by someone you assert is a pathological liar?

      Ouch!

THEN!! It's excuses, such as "damage control". The audacity here is quite something. You folk have never been accountable for your little face falls, eh? Fascinating that this is never been more prevalent in the examples set by two failed researchers who bash everyone for THEIR shortfalls, in Mr Curious and "Haints". Curiously enough who chimed in on here. This really is an education in the psychology of failure. And then, as if the whole thing hasn't been a pointless investment, it's time to deflect to the "PGF Hoax"... Like that's ever done them an favours?

You see it's no wonder that to you, Mr Curious, that someone who's willing to make so many assumptions and should special plead on such a chronic level... That you should think it's logical that an old man would firstly turn down a massive sum of money that would not only see a stop to him trouncing around the country as an old man, but would also see his family rather wealthy. So let me get this straight, because he hasn't fathered kids, that makes him more of a lair and dependent on conning millions of people? I just needed to check, since you like to make assumptious, contradictory, nasty allegations. It's also audacious that someone so seemingly lacking in integrity should assume anyone else has a lack thereof. Someone with the life experience that Mr Gimlin has... To me, is an honest hard working person. But we are used to people like yourself, Mr Curious and "Haints", putting your shortfalls on others now, aren't we?

Got monkey suit? Nope! It's ok... Just stick to your hypothetical confession scenarios like good little fantasists. I'm surprised you folk haven't been approached to put forewords in Johnson's book.

    15. LOL - and there he is, right on cue the "defender of the faith" Mr. lktomi. Seems he's offended that I would have the audacity to criticize in any way anything casting doubt on the existence of Bigfoot. I was curious as to what Mr. Gimlin had written in the foreword of Johnson's book and now have his side of the story. Of course Mr. lktomi wants to use this simple curiosity as a "gottcha" moment and twist things around as he always does. I have repeatedly said I am NOT a researcher but he constantly refers to me as such (and a failed one at that - LOL).

It's believers such as Matthew Johnson and lktomi that keep me interested in the subject. I find their explanations and belief fascinating to watch and read. Please keep it coming lktomi - you are a constant source of amusement for me.

    16. Exactly, Curious. What's interesting about bigfoot are the psychos and morons like ikdummy. Ikdummy is so inconceivably stupid yet confident that it is addictingly fascinating to observe.

      Delete
    17. No, Mr Curious.

I know your euphemistic version of "curiosity" only too well. Just as you are "curious" about the belief systems of people who are enthusiastic about the evidence of this subject, which is a roundabout way of suggesting they an inferior social spectacle... You have been "curious" about Gimlin's involvement with Johnon's book, which is a roundabout way of saying that Gimlin is forever bunched with the loonies. You have quite clearly enjoyed any suggestion of affiliation on the part of Gimlin to Johnson, and have repeatedly suggested that he had already lost credibility because that alleged affiliation. Just like so many in your theory group, you abide by be lie that "Bigfoot" began with the Patterson-Gimlin footage, therefore in your nind, any angle to tarnish the credibility of the people involved in the capturing of that footage is useful to you. And of course, like you're always reassuring "someone" who might take note of your involvement on forums such as this that you "don't believe", you'd like the same "somebody" no doubt to believe that you once haven't "stooped so low" as the people you like to call loonies.

"Faith"... Indeed. Mr Curious, I've seen your version of how science work. Like so many people who butcher it, yours is a quasi-religious-like mindset that propels pseudosceptics to a phoney pedestal where they (feel like) they don't have to abide by very basic scientific principles. Principles you folk wouldn't understand if it bit you on the backside. Time and time again, the notion of Bigfoot "sceptics" having more of an obsession than its believers is very much substantiated. Bigfoot pseudosceptics are clearly way too invested in what other people think about this subject, and that's a far more fascinating area of psychology than anyone being able to understand the frequency of evidence and invest enthusiasm upon it. Pseudosceptics don't even have conventions where they can get together and exchange ideas after spending significant time in the wilderness. They get their sense of community from behind their desktops in their cosey houses while obsessing about YouTube channels, blogs & forums like this to express their complaints... After spending all their time following something they don't believe in, of course.

      Gotcha.

    19. • For starters, nobody knows if you're American.
      • Secondly, Americans would be ashamed to know that one of their own, who assert to know anything about primates, didn't know humans are primates.
      • And thirdly, most Americans would forgive anyone from any other country in having to educate a psycho like you about that, not to mention anything else for that matter.

Oh... And the average height for those "tall hairy tribes", based on the physical evidence they leave, is 7.5 feet tall.

    20. LOL - well I guess he told me!

Yes, I openly admit I was taken in by the idea that such a creature existed but that was back in the sixties and early seventies. Many years have passed since then and time has afforded so many opportunities for proof that it strains logic to think we haven't been able to discover such a large humanoid in our own very backyard. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has changed their opinion on it's existence after so many years.

I see below you reference a submittal by Dr. Meldrum to the Society for Scientific Exploration. Being curious I looked them up. I believe this says it all:

Sort of like preaching to the choir don't you think?

In any case believe as you wish. I actually enjoy your attempts at trying to convince us. In any case at least you didn't call me a researcher again (failed or otherwise) so your learning.

    21. Since the 60's and 70's. innumerable reports have come in by professional people who have nothing to gain from divulging such. The innumerable casts that have surfaced, some of which that show morphological congruency across continents. The many hair samples that are conforming with one another, and the audio recordings... All that which suddenly led to you doing the opposite of what unimpressed people do, and researching the Carter Farm claims in the 90's-00's, correct? So at what point did you manage to "miss" all that and THEN think it would be a great idea as a "sceptic" to give up your time to research the matter? It wouldn't add up to anyone, and it doesn't add up to me. You're fooling nobody, Mr Curious. You've been into this subject for DECADES, tried your hand at research and now it's everyone else's "psychological issue".

      And as for the Society for Scientific Exploration, I'm sure you've merely read over Don's strawman drivel, so not to spam, I'll post the link to a comment section you've no doubt read to remind you of what my response is going to be;
      http://bigfootevidence.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/four-true-scary-stories-from-swamp.html?m=0

If it's not bad enough that you folk want to lessen the standards of science by adhering to faith based processes such as peer review, you then want to cherry pick which ones are credible. If you ever wanted to know what I find amusing, Curious, it's the illogical cartwheels the likes of you do.

    23. "A journal is a journal, and an editorial board by PhD's, is an editorial board by PhD's."

Well if you say so. I think there are various levels of journals and different expertise of PhD's but hey that's just me.

LOL - ah yes, Carter Farm. You see, there was once a forum called Cryptozoology.com which is gone now and found only on Facebook. There were a few on there that really bought into Janice Carter's stories and defended them rigorously. Since I was going to be in that general area anyway I decided to take a couple of days to see the area for myself. I met up with Jerry Coleman (Loren Coleman's brother) and we started looking and asking around. We both knew it was just stories but wanted to get solid proof of what she was saying was lies and we did. I can tell you the poor woman had a sad life and was merely craving attention. At no time did I ever buy into her story or anyone else's since the early seventies. For me it was just an amusing side-trip and great conversation once I returned and reported on the forum. I would love to visit Robert Dodson's area but I'm afraid I would get shot seeing what he's packing.

Yes, I have been interested in the subject for a very long time and that is why I no longer believe in the possibility of it existing. I have seen so many promises and claims come to nothing and plenty of logical arguments against it. I do hold out a slim chance of there being something to the Orang Pendek because of the remoteness of the environment. Those who search for Bigfoot and fanatically promote it's existence are now the focus of my interest.

I'm glad we amuse each other. Now just admit it right here for all to see. You think Matthew Johnson is crazy too don't you? We can at least agree on that much surely.

    24. Oh so there's "different levels of journals & different PhD's now"? So you're now acknowledging that the peer review process isn't as solid as once asserted?

Listen Mr Curious... Not that I'm assuming you care, but I don't dislike you. And of course I think he's crazy.

This clown iktomi is not worthy of respect. He's taking a horror genre and role-playing it into a subversion of science. This uneducated fool is arrogantly snobbish, though, as to who can play the role-play game. Dr. Johnson is unacceptable to him even though Johnson's bigfoot is as real as ikdummy's.

iktomi craps on people doing the same role-play he does because it doesn't rise to his level, even though Joe F./ikdummy is a painfully uneducated lower class worker in Wales, UK and Johnson has a Phd.

    29. Argh yes!! For thousands of years, there has been a culture hopping secret society of gorilla suit wearing role players, all out to gain. These role players, spanning different cultures, and though finding each others customs undesirable, have managed to role-play up the same creature with non-human primate features, when they didn't even know what one looked like, and have in fact managed to cheat experts with fake morphological traits that span decades and continents!
