Why Don't Trail Cameras Photograph Bigfoot?

The Crypto Blast takes a look at the mystery of why nobody has had success photographing bigfoot with motion activated trail cameras. They seem to work for getting photos of other wildlife, so why not bigfoot? Do they have special abilities that allow them to avoid the cameras? Check it out:

    3. Science acknowledges reason, empiricism, and evidence. How this is relevant to my situation, is that there is reason to invest enthusiasm in the subject matter based on the accumulated data that accounts for the experiences of tens of thousands of people, spanning different cultures, that is supported by means of physical and even biological evidences that can't be scientifically shown to be false.

      Religions include revelation, faith and sacredness, and how this is relevant to your situation is that you have nothing but dataless opinion void of any scientific factual basis, with a requirement to be devoted in expressing your sentiment at every opportunity.

    7. Just like Haints! Doesn't think anything in the "Bigfoot world" is real but thinks Biscardi is an honest person.

      Listen to him folks... He knows what he's talking about.

  3. Sasquatches have been caught on trail cameras a few times.

    1. But not "caught" as many times as we,the viewers, have by the trail cam pics.

  4. This is something I long have questioned. I remember when the trail cams first came out as mentioned in the above short video and it's true many were adamant that these would finally solve the mystery. I too, believed that if anything such as a Bigfoot existed it would be caught on camera. Since then none of the photos taken have shown anything convincing. I've noticed in some cases there seems to be a single shot taken which leads me to suspect that particular photo has been "cherry picked" for maximum effect in presenting the case for something unusual. Case in point is the Vermont trail cam photo and the Rick Jacobs photos. They may satisfy those who are already inclined to believe however they have done nothing to bolster the case for existence to the world at large. I find it suspicious with the prevalence and advancement of game cams in the last thirty years that better photos and videos have not come along. Speaking for myself, I also discount talk of these creatures being able to avoid these cameras by whatever myriad of excuses that are given. How could we possibly know how they could detect these cameras when we aren't even sure they even exist?

    Of course it helps if you turn them on, check the batteries and make sure you have space available. I read of all these mistakes over the many years of reading these accounts. ;)

    1. The Vermont trail cam photo is clearly an owl, and the reason no trail cam photo will never bolster the case for "Bigfoot", is because no photo or piece of footage ever will... Reason being; there'll always be EXCUSES. But that doesn't mean that there isn't trail cam photos that stand up to scrutiny, and I'm certainly not making excuses for that.

    2. There are also papers on how coyotes successfully avoid trail cams... And Sasquatch are not as dumb as wonderful coyotes.

    5. Who needs excuses when they have evidence you can't explain away? Your failures, naivety and ignorance aren't anyone else's "excuses" pal, take responsibility for your shortcomings.

    6. For an animal that successfully avoids trail cams we sure seem to have a lot of clear images of them:

      It is my opinion that no animal (or man) can successively evade a well thought out and carefully placed trail cam indefinitely. Some very elusive animals have been caught on trail cams over the years and I just find it odd that with all the effort being made to capture an image of Bigfoot that more and better images have not appeared.

      Mr Curious, I would have hoped that you'd have not taken my comment literally... But in case you did, I'll explain myself. There are indeed trail cam photos of coyotes, but they have the collective ability to avoid these and have done many times with research groups documenting such. Now... Think of a wild human that evades in social groups. I think you get the picture.

      It is your opinion that no animal (or man) can successively evade a well thought out and carefully placed trail cam indefinitely, and they haven't. Once you step out of the dumb bipedal gorilla mindset and into the intelligent primate mindset, there is ample reason to theorise as to how evasion might be managed. Let's theorise for a minute that Sasquatch have the perfect blend of both animalistic and human attributes to their evasion, then it would be an extremely difficult creature to spot, unless it makes the odd mistake or is partial to bouts of curiosity (both very much being the case). Experiments have shown that chimpanzees have startling photographic memories; they easily beat humans. From the Primate Research Institute at Kyoto University;

      Both animals and humans leave sign of their passage in addition to tracks. These include chewed or bruised vegetation, droppings, scratches in tree bark, hairs snagged on branches or in bark, rubbings on trees, gnawed bones, feathers, opened nuts, dens, burrows, and nests. You may also find well-worn trails and runways through the grass that many animals use regularly. These signs may not be obvious at first, but with practice, you will see them. If Sasquatch somehow had Photographic memories as well as the level of sentience as humans, all this could be why they see sign of human interference and things like trail cams having been erected. The best trackers in the world who are well aware of their existence refer to them as the Boss of the Woods. This is not something new that has arisen as an excuse... The people who have had these creatures within their cultures for thousands of years understand how successful they are in their own environment.

    8. "Let's theorise for a minute that Sasquatch have the perfect blend of both animalistic and human attributes..."

      So you're suggesting something supernatural since nothing like that is known to exist in nature?

      You are making two assumptions here... one that bigfoot exists and two that this bigfoot has characteristics not found in nature.

    9. I read with interest the link you provided which explored the weariness of camera traps for coyotes. I understand the point you are making however it still is a fact that the elusive coyote has still been captured on film. I noticed that article was done in 2003 which does not negate the findings in itself however the trail cams and technology has continued to improve since then. Additionally we still have to make a lot of assumptions such as "the perfect blend of both animalistic and human attributes" and "somehow had photographic memories as well as the sentience of humans". It's fine to theorize why there are no more and better pictures but I could also speculate there are not more because they simply do not exist and the ones we do have are just mistaken owls, bears and whatever.

      I can certainly entertain why a rare creature in the vast northwest woods would be seldom captured on a game cam but I still find it hard to believe why we wouldn't have better pictures by now if they really did exist in all the areas claimed.

    10. Details on primates having photographic memories = fact.
      Details on tracking physical sign = fact.
      Reason to invest enthusiasm on the existence of a creature such as this = dermals, hair, audio & footage, fact.
      Warranted to theorise as to how such a creature could therefore evade so successfully in line with the available data = logically scientific.
      Our room to theorize is in fact your biggest obstacle on the flip side, especially when you fail so miserably in showing us that the evidence for such a creature isn't there... And only if I was to be suggesting anything outside of nature, you would have a point. If this creature exists (and it does based on the physical evidence)... Then to have evaded this well, it would have to have attributes far superior to us anyway.

      Trail cams have improved since 2003 no doubt, but the basics of their purpose have not, especially in line with the factors of human interference in wilderness areas to which I alluded to. If you have something that has been reported to be a wild human for thousands of years... It's simply logical that it can think like a human, especially that it can evade so well. Some would also argue that since it has some level of language (Scott Nelson), that this is culture in it's purest and only indicative of something that has sentience.

      And lastly, we have trail cam photos... Simples. The Jacobs photo ain't no bear;

    11. Well lktomi what I consider the flip side is that with all this evidence you speak of, we seem to be no closer to proving it than we were last year and the year before that and the year before that and . . .

      It's well and good to theorize but we eventually have to come to terms with the fact that technology is constantly improving, the world is getting smaller and - well, people lie. Even you- possibly the biggest advocate here, have to concede most of these stories we read on this site cannot possibly be true. I know you get tired of hearing this but I started out as a believer but as the years passed I became more and more skeptical to where I now have only a remnant of belief left. Many of these stories have done nothing but increase my skepticism and the evidence which you always proclaim appears circumstantial to me with some claiming it as fact and yet others dismissing it. I suppose it's in the eyes of the beholder just as the Jacob's photo appears to be a bear to me. I could be convinced if we wouldn't just have pictures of it's backside and a good head shot. I still enjoy reading the accounts but for me the mystery is in the human psyche and how our mind perceives things.

      As an aside I have to agree that some of the comments here do go down to grade level. I can appreciate the back and forth banter IF it's done with wit and cleverness but it seems to be lacking in most posts. Bear in mind I bear you no malice when I disagree with you or give you some good natured ribbing. We simply see things differently but as strange as this may seem to you I actually hope you turn out to be correct. It would be good to see at least ONE of my youthful beliefs turn out to be true.
