If This Happened To Your Father, You'll Probably Want to Believe In Bigfoot Too

During the Vietnam War, soldiers brought back tales of large man-like apes they called rock apes. Soldiers describe the creature as being approximately 6 ft tall and covered with hair except in the knees, the soles of the feet, the hands, and the face. The hair ranges in color from gray to brown to black. Sightings of these Bigfoot-like creatures are reported all over Asian and known by many names -- China calls them "Yeren", and the people of Laos refer to them as the "forest men". Here's one story we haven't heard before about a veteran who had an encounter. BFE Facebook fan, Brian P. writes:

I wanted to share my story on how I became a Bigfoot believer. When I was younger (between 10-12...I'm 38 now) my dad told me his story when he was in the Vietnam war. My dad was a 'Gunner' on an Army Chopper (1969-1971). My dad's story is: they were on an early morning mission in November of 1969 (the war was at a peak and animals in the jungle were retreating from war zones.....according to his account of the time) to recover a platoon, on their was the pilot yelled back to my dad and said: "Did you see that huge ape on the top of that tree?!".....my dad said he didn't see it at first and the pilot circled back, and sure enough (according to my dad's account) there was an 8-12 foot Ape with an orangish fur, and he described a grayish face , hugging the top of a tree on top of the jungle's canopy. My dad said the pilot hovered the chopper over "It" and my dad said the pilot ordered my dad to shoot it, and my dad said he refused and said to the pilot: "he's not the enemy, he's scared of us, we invaded his habitat, let's leave "It" alone...I'm NOT going to kill it!".....the pilot eventually complied with my dad's order to hold fire. My dad said he had a moment in his eyes, and could tell he was in such fear, and thought to himself, that the war going on in his habitat probably scared him into the trees, and he isn't use to seeing helicopters hovering over top of him, so my dad felt sorry for him and he said I'm not a killer, it was like his eyes were telling me not to hurt him, so I didn't. When we talk about the North American Sasquatch, my dad said they are very similar and he has no doubt they exist. My dad tells the story with conviction, and my dad is not one to make up a story. Ever since, I've believed my dad, and believe Bigfoots are real.

  5. I don't usually comment here, but my dad also came back with a rockape story. He was not a reconditioned but he did go out with them some on lrrp. Anyway he said that they had stopped somewhere for the night and proceeded to set up claymore mines around the perimeter. Sometime during the night a group of rockapes moved in a little too close and tripped the mines. Dad said that there was "monkey parts" laying everywhere. I asked what did they look like and he said pretty much like an orangutan except bigger. I said dad there are no orangutans in Vietnam and they're not nocturnal anyway. He didn't want to talk about it after I said that. " no damn bigfoots in Vietnam he said

    2. The thing about the internet and posting anonymously is that you can be anyone, say anything and create any story you wish and present it as fact. It is up to the reader to decide what is fact or fiction. I suppose rock apes are real . . . in some minds.

    3. Great story, 5:12. Don't mind the paid disinfo agents and pea brains on here. Greed and stupidity are powerful forces. But eyewitness testimony is way more powerful than either of those things.

I'm sorry your dad had to go through that. Sounds like he was troubled by what he saw. Glad you haven't closed the door on the idea that bothers him so much.

  6. I talked with a Vietnam vet 18 months ago at the Ohio BMV in Greenville, OH. We were outside, him waiting on his wife. Jovial guy. Me being me I asked if he had encountered any rocks apes while there. He laughed a bit and said no. However his brother in the Navy was stationed with Marines for a while in the Central Highlands. His brother told him how early in the mornings the rock apes would come out from hiding a bit and hurl rocks at the soldiers and then leave. He said it was common knowledge in that area.

I have to commend the wisdom of Brian P's father to not shoot. The pilot controls the craft and am glad he followed your father's lead and backed off. It would have been easy for the pilot to let loose a burst of mini gun on the beast. What an awful war.

    2. This is the first I've heard of the stone ape. I'm a little behind on a lot about the subject, but soldiers tend to stay sharp and observant. If they made it home from Vietnam I guarantee they kept their eyes and ears open at all times. Who knows, interested skeptic. HG

    3. Hunting guy wouldn't you think that a soldier in combat would be more apt for truth due to the seriousness of the experience? Do you believe them, or would you too question their honor?

    4. Oh here we go - now they are playing the patriotism card. "You support our soldiers don't you? DON'T YOU? Are you calling them liars! Well, then you are a freedom hating commie liberal who worships Obama!"

Yeah I've heard that crap a million times now. It's used for almost any argument trying to play on emotions. I was IN the army although admittedly not in combat. There are many fine, professional people serving but you have liars there as well just like in all aspects of society (such as the bigfoot community). But I am not calling the soldiers liars - I am calling the ones who made these posts liars. They will say and do anything to further their cause. It's almost a religion for them now.

Anyone and I do mean ANYONE can tell a story. Whether it's true or not is another matter indeed. We have the story - what we don't have is any evidence to back it up. Seems to be the pattern here.

    5. Thank you Annon 8:37, for answering for me, and doing it much better than I could have done. I respect all VETs with a sincere appreciation for their sacrifice. Not being one does make it hard to make any answer come out the a way I wish.. Thanks again for the answer and your service sir. HG

    6. 8:37, you said "I am calling the ones who made these posts liars" "They will say and do anything to further their cause."
Who exactly are you referring to, and what is "their cause?"

    7. Guy calling anon posters liars also posting anonymously. I'll bet he's lying about being in the army. I mean we don't have any evidence to back it up. Right? Right

    8. Hey HG. They are referred to as rock apes and are considered the same or a relative of the North American Sasquatch. Generally they are thought of as being a bit smaller than our bigfoot. They are in the Chinese Mountains also and called the Yeren there. Also in parts of Indonesia they have the Orang Pendek. In the caucasus of Russia there is the Almasty. In the forest lands of the Himalyas there is the Yeti, and in Australia it is called the Yowie.

Right now I feel the evidence predominately weighs in favor of them all being of the Hominid branch of primates, perhaps cousins of us.
Hope this helps just a bit.

    9. I posted at 9:16 DS but I know you are referring to me. I am referencing bigfoot advocates who will lie if they think it will strengthen the argument that some unknown hominid exists. There are many stories that come out of war but unless it has some documentation behind it then it is just that - a story. But some of you guys will believe ANYTHING as long as it advocates the existence of such a creature. Would you not think with all the men who served in that theater that there would be thousands of such stories? But no - there is not.

Now Anon 10:23 I posed anonymously because I do not want my name associated in anyway in perusing these forums because if my friends and co-workers ever got wind of this I would be teased mercilessly. It's just a guilty pleasure I have because I enjoy the humor and banter. Yes, your right I could be lying about being in the army because I provide no proof of that however I admitted I was never in combat nor overseas. If I was lying I think I would have made myself a ranger with combat experience and have served in a war but believe what you want, it is of no concern to me.

Now I'm going to make something productive out of my day but have fun swapping stories and posting how stupid you think those who do not believe are. If the day ever comes you have an actual body of what you speak I will be the first to come here and apologize for my brashness and disbelief - until then it's just stories to me.

    10. ^11:16- I won't hardly even bother with such an empty headed idiot. The kind of idiot that thinks he knows more than anyone about what they saw or what is correct, and everyone else is lying. The kind of person afraid of his co-workers and friends teasing him, yet he can do the same mercilessly to others. The kind of person that thinks he is superior to others and has no respect for anyone.

I seriously doubt you have friends. People like you friends tire of quickly and escape. You probably have co-workers, but they stay far away.

I'm not sure what you think you'll do productive today, but it will probably go along the lines of you putting others down. I hope it builds your esteem enough that you don't cringe when you see a mirror.

      Have a good day.
