Awesome Reviews of Survivorman Bigfoot Episode 1: We Love It (Spoiler Alert)

Survivorman Bigfoot episode 1 was an eye-opener for Les Stroud. He starts out as a skeptic, and seems to be slowly turning into a believer. Whether or not he becomes a true believer is still up in the air as episode one ended with a cliffhanger. Here are some awesome reviews by BFE readers Mike B. and Rob Taylor:

Mike B.: Without ruining this for you just let me say that Les was not disappointed

Within the first five minutes of viewing "Survivorman Bigfoot" Part 1, I abandoned all hope of sleeping last night. As a person whose stalked through the woods in search of something I knew was simultaneously stalking me, I could feel Les Stroud and a rather quiet Todd Standing were on the track of real subjects.

The researcher and enthusiast in me woke up and abandoned the humorist at the Tall Pines and I went for a little trip with Les and Todd as Les shed his skeptic skin and fell face first off the Cliff of the Wild Man. I did not care whether labels of Giganto were used or from what schools of thought these guys approached it. I was too mesmerized by the gigantic tree structure that Todd took Les to, not fifteen minutes into the program.

As Les Stroud, accomplished outdoorsmen, tracker and survivor went through his mental checklist of what it wasn't that created the huge tree totem: snow melt, rot, erosion, it became obvious that we were looking at perhaps the most significant Sasquatch tree structure that has ever been filmed. And that was just the beginning.

As Standing took Les further into the remote High Country pines following an old trap line that the Subjects had snapped their own timber against, Stroud became more and more convinced that no man or beast or weather event was there for misinterpretation.

Finally. It was a return "Whoop" call that lit up Les Stroud's pupils and then it was time to pitch camp. Without ruining this for you just let me say that Les was not disappointed. I for one cannot wait for part two.

Since I began my own journey into this very real and sometimes frightening nocturnal phenomenon of cat and mouse with my forest betters, very few nighttime spook stories and absolutely no television programs have given me that cedar thicket pitch black shiver when something goes SNAP in the dark. That is until last night. When I watched Survivorman Bigfoot Part 1 -- and remembered what it's like to be scared and alone in the woods.

Rob Taylor: Survivorman Bigfoot might be the best bigfoot show I have seen since History Channel's Definitive Guide to Bigfoot

Les Stroud is taken deep into the Canadian wilderness by Todd Standing. A controversial figure in the main stream and the bigfoot community. Todd Standing became know for his video that he shot of a muppet looking creature. How could we trust Mr Standing? The video was short, the creature did not blink once, and it did not move. Let's just say most of us did not buy into Todd Standing.

The story surrounding the video was the cherry on top for me. One of Todd Standing's associates or friends called into the authorities to say he was missing. Too me it seemed like a media blitz to promote a movie or a website Todd Standing was working on. What could Todd Standing do for people to trust that he did not HOAX? Bring in an outsider, just one, not a crew of people (which would of happen with the Finding Bigfoot Crew) one man that was skeptic of Todd himself and Bigfoot. What better person than the Survivorman Les Stroud, a popular TV personality, an outdoorsman with more experience in the wilderness then most of the people reading this combined!

Survivorman Bigfoot might be the best bigfoot show I have seen since History Channel's Definitive Guide to Bigfoot. This show was made with a scientific purpose not ratings. Made my heart race the whole time, just what the bigfoot community needed. Field investigating, tracking, and not what happened but what is going to happen. Just Todd and Les in the woods coming across huge stick structures about every 2 miles, calls being echoed back at them minutes later. It seems that their is a lot more action and evidence to come in the next episode.

I think I've been very careful (and sensible) not to lend my opinion on that, what I have done is put all the facts out there, not to mention the exact quotes. If there was nothing to her study, then why the censorship?

"It's headed a little more towards the lemur line, oddly enough. It is definitely NOT an ape. And it's interesting that we found out that there is an extinct lemur that weighed 400 or 500 pounds. Also, they had opposable thumbs and hooded noses. It really freaked me out that we had lemur. I did not expect that (laughs)."

Hooded nose, opposable thumbs? Like I suggested, don't attack me, I'm just the vehicle for fair play.

    8. Who is attacking the messenger? I would just like some clarification on how a male lemur reproduced with a female human and not only produced offspring but offspring capable of reproducing itself.

It's simply not possible. Lemurs are so far from our genetic tree that to even suggest it is unacceptable. If humans cannot mate successfully with chimpanzees or orangutans, how can something even further from us, genetically speaking, be capable of it?

      Delete
    9. You've been banging on about lemurs since I presented you with the truth about her work's censorship (so much so that you brought it off topic here), so I think I'm at liberty make that claim.

To be honest, I would agree with you, but for Nature Journal to send it to peer review, there has to be something in the finer details to warrant such a initial proposal? Why would the Journal of Advanced Zoological Exploration in Zoology accept it at peer review (only to pull out at the very last second)? Surely the thought of a pre-lemur's participation in this would have been rejected outright, right?

Like I said, I'm inclined to agree with you, but the initial actions of major institutions towards the paper doesn't add up to me.

      Delete
    10. So it doesn't add up in your eyes therefore lemurs can produce viable offspring with humans?

      Quite a leap.

      Delete
    11. Nope... What doesn't 'add up'; is those big hitters not noticing such a fallacy, if indeed the finer details determined it couldn't be possible.

I'm on the fence about it all, but the way the study was treated is very significant and I'm not one to ignore key factors because something doesn't sit well with me.

      Delete
    2. Me too 2:24. Maybe in a future episode they bring equipment such as FLIR or night vision? Or perhaps, they avoided bringing it to increase the chances of an encounter. Since some think that sasquatch are sensitive to that type of equipment.
Standing must be a stand up guy for Stroud to accompany him into the woods. If only he had not shot that muppet video I would be a Todd Standing supporter 100%

      Delete
    3. Actually my comment about sensitivity to FLIR is stupid when they bring all those cameras into the woods (duh)
I know you guys are forgiving on this blog, so it's ok right?

      Delete
    4. Why bring night vision when no one else has succeeded with it. It's mainly for drama and the spooky look that comes across the TV. Not because it's an effective tool. It seems to me most credible footage is captured during the day. Moneygrubber is the one that claims they are nocturnal but seeing how he has captured exactly bumbkis evidence in his so called career, which leads me to ask, How the hell does he know they are nocturnal? Or anything else about them for that matter? Keep in mind that Stroud's resume includes professional videographer. And the vast amount of his work is done in some of the remotest places on Earth. I'll defer to him on the equipment he thinks he needs.

      Delete
    5. Les isn't exactly a genius in that department. He's a documentarian that has a few small cameras he uses to film himself, he's not some wizard with full on major production or something.

Joe seems to bleeve teh bigfoot be nocturnal, purely based on anecdotal evidence though. Maybe you can ask him why he thinks that, even though seasoned and experienced bigfooters like John Jones and Mike Brookreson seem to highly disagree.

      Delete
    6. There would be a much larger number of sightings during the day if that were true. The fact that day:night sightings are equal suggests more activity at night, since it would be much harder to have a sighting in low light conditions.

      Delete
    7. Your wrong Anon 6:01 Even the show Finding Big foot eye witnesses sightings were 90% during the DAY. Look at ALL the Big foot sighting reports and they average 95% during
      the DAY!
Just try it yourself, go out at night looking. You can't see anything, and cannot walk quietly etc.
Searching for them, and visible signs can only be achieved during the DAY!

      Delete
    8. According to the BFRO:

Daytime and nighttime sightings are almost equal in number despite the severely limited sight distance and coverage for observers at night, an indication of the much greater nocturnal activity of the sasquatch.

      http://www.bfro.net/gdb/show_FAQ.asp?id=587

There are a lot more reports in the BRFO database than there are sightings featured on Finding Bigfoot.

  6. Here is a statement from the BFRO forums:

The wildly overblown, self-serving assertions made by Todd Standing in those Canadian newspaper articles are quite misleading. We interviewed Todd Standing, as one of several witnesses in Alberta. He used the opportunity to drum up publicity for himself in Calgary papers. That’s what he’s all about — he’s a publicity hound. We interviewed him and basically debunked him on camera. His tales were full of contradictions and couldn’t stand up to our questioning.

Usually the four investigators are not unanimous when some of us feel a witness is not credible. In Todd’s case we all came away feeling that he is not credible, and we said so afterwards.

If this show is done right, it will be a hit! Todd MAY redeem himself with this show, maybe?
At least Todd goes deep into the woods, and didn't have an army of cameramen following him around!

Having personally experienced multiple slander attacks, I know that they will even call on employees of the U.S. Forest Service in order to impliment this plan. Just ask Kathy Strain about that. She eventually resigned from the BFRO.

Another policy is that the BFRO owns all evidence found by, and all books written by, their minions.

The BFRO minions are prevented from making public announcements without clearing them through Moneymaker first.

Finally, the BFRO minions operate on a 24/7 directive to discredit all videos and audio recordings, in the same instant that you view or hear them. Just ask Cliff Barackman about that.

Though I'm leaning towards the photos being legit, I am still going to refrain from being totally committed publicly, until I can get to the bottom of this Outstanding Productions lark.

Last note to the person trying to condescend me at 5:03... Take a look at the video on YouTube that shows the subjects in the photographs' mouth and eyeballs move.

And the "eye and mouth movement". I can't find the link right now but I know I've read that his sister is a makeup artist. The also own a production company together. His "bigfoots" are nothing more than props, makeup, and BAD fur suits.

    8. 6:29... I have heard this, but I would like to dig a little deeper and get to the bottom of it all. You have Bigfoot researchers with brothers/sisters in all kinds of employment & professions, and there is a chance that it's a mere coincidence.

6:33... Proportions? Those proportions look fine to me?? I have also spoken to a few researchers who have seen these creatures, who also concur with what Todd has 'photographed'... Not so black and white is it???

Heroes? I think you'll find the first time Outstanding Productions was brought up on this thread, was by me... I think you'll also find I've been quite open about not totally commuting on the photographs until I can get to the bottom of these accusations. It is not 'skeptical' to leap to a conclusion, because you have possible coincidence and a counter argument not heard from Todd, still to play with.

Hopefully, in the future, you will learn the true meaning of being skeptical and also brush up on your reading skills... Absorbing the content of a comment is important in preventing making yourself looking silly.

I would like to remind you that the kinisthetics expert that studied the subject in that footage, also determined that the time it took 'it' to get from point A to point B, was out of the range of possibility for a 'normal human'.

Again... These are just the wider facts regarding the stuff, and like I have said; I have not totally committed on these photographs & video until I can get to the bottom of the accusations (that's the correct way to go, not conclude on possibilities and probables) take off your blinkers and read my comments properly.

This show will appeal to the bf people and if hunters and real outdoors people watch it they will realize that there is really some type of bf animal out there buy simply watching episode one! Thing is the other 90% of the population will not understand anything about the tree structures and not even give it a second thought! 7. Mike's a good man and works hard. I'm pleased you liked his photographs, you may want to check out Texas Hillcountry Cryptozoological Society channel on YouTube.

      Peace.

  11. Boy. Some of the comments have really peeked my interest and hope it plays in the US soon. Can't believe his main channel Discovery did not have this first. Having Todd Standing does not diminish Les Stroud in the least. Yoiu have to remember most viewers will be unaware of Todd. I do not believe his video released a few years ago to be real, but I know his heart and passion to get them recognized and protected is most admirable, and I hope he succeeds. I have been a fan of Stroud's his since 02 or 03. When Les took the gamble a couple of years ago by relating his experience off camera in Alaska and then later in Ontario, I thought great. Maybe one of the most respected and recognizable outdoorsman can get the ball rolling in a different and necessary direction, and now it is happening. If ratings are good maybe Les can expand it to other woodsmen and researchers here in the States. From what I have heard lately maybe Bear and/or Coonbo Baker would be good candidates. Also Cliff Barackman, Stacy Brown, Derek Randles, Bart Curtino, and of course Will Jevning. There are many others also. Bring it on.

    1. It doesn't matter where his heart and passion is. He is a hoaxer and therefore has no credibility.

    2. You don't know much about the Internet, do you?

Don't want to wait? Watch it online for free. You can watch just about anything you want online.

And get an HDMI cable, run it from your computer to your TV and then you have it on your big screen.

      Are you 80 or something?

    3. I just don't understand why Todd gets a pass. His puppets just enforce the notion that bigfoot is a joke to the outside world. He is no different than Rick Dyer. Bigfoot will never be taken seriously if these obvious hoaxes keep getting promoted.

  12. The area there in is of the guy who was on dragons den trying to get funding for a show on bf, also this man is saying he bought a 50 cal last year in order to kill a Bigfoot and he was on monster x radio talking about his plan and how Todd S has tryed taking over his area which your watching on surviver, there's a lot more to this episode then meets the eye! Ttl

  13. Aron ? Was the guys name on monster x radio ep kill or no kill, u will here all about this area les and Todd are researching etc

  14. I think the show would have even more success if they brought in other well known researchers like Chuck listed above. If Todd is the dominate "Expert' the show may fail, because of his reputation. I have mixed feelings about Todd, but he (I think) first introduced the concept of "Day watchers" (Big foots almost always travel in pairs, with one always watching etc) which, from my experience is true! Of course time will tell. But it will not be a bad show unlike Finding Bigfoot, Mountain Monsters, or 10 Mill bounty. They were all stupid shows!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Todd is not the main person in the show he might say 5 words and the show is nothing like any of the other bf show so don't worry 6:44

  19. No, nnno, nnnnnooooo! I'm not listening anymore. I just can't deal with this anymore. My life to date revolves around using money and power to control those around me, and surround me in luxury. My parents never taught me about any Bigfoot. My instructors never taught me about any Bigfoot. If Bigfoot was real, somebody would have said something. I can't control Bigfoot with money or power. Now I have nightmares about Bigfoot. Somebody is going to pay for this, and pay bigtime so that I can get more money. I am surrounded by nutcases. No, I am not nuts so leave me alone.

  20. Part 1 is a yawner. Part 2 is more exciting but they did not actually capture any audio, and is a setup for Part 3.

  21. I thought that Todd was going to have Les crawling into Sylvanic for 20 miles, with a full backpack, their faces glued to the ground and no potty break. Boy was I disappointed about that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's it! Les is done fore! He's now got the "Big foot on the Brain syndrome". now everything he hears, sees or is told, was caused by a Big foot! No cure for this!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree this is a concern as i am "ruined " in the same way. Les has spent alot of time in the woods and according to him has in fact heard sounds that he cannot explain on several occasions. I believe that now he has dug deeper in the bigfoot world he can now put it to good use and have a good chance at proving existance. Ignirance has been bliss in the past but im sure his alaska and ontario expieience has opened a door that he and other researchers like myself cant and dont want to close

  32. I'll be in that area all summer, and will prowl that cut line a few times as much as I can. It is B.S. my peeps, I assure you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The cut line is well known, the trap corridor is also well known, and the "legend" of the frightened trapper is well known. Some guy is trying to raise money on the T.V. show Dragon's Den (Canada's Shark Tank) to buy equipment and get attention to Green Screen this area and make a few bucks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Having said all this, only one hunter I know ever saw an "ape" (in his words) in Alberta. Not remotely close to this b.s. "Sylvanic" area.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Standing and his sister would be better off creating another Jim Henson type product, like Sesame Street or the Muppets with their skills. Far more honest.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I find it difficult to rule out the idea that Todd may have an accomplice or two in the woods with him. Not saying he does, but not saying he doesn't either. He brought Les in to this area. I'd find it more credible if Les were to happen upon this stuff while he was out filming an episode of Survivorman on his own.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Fortunately, what people who are inexperienced in the field think, does not matter in the final analysis. Humans make a lot more noise than Bigfoot and cannot hide while standing nearby. For the experienced researchers, it is completely absurd to even think that Standing had accomplices.

      Delete
    2. Les is now saying on this episode that what he is hearing is what he has heard in the wilderness alone. So now he's piecing his 20 year experience together and seeing it in a different light.

      Delete
  37. The B.F.R.O. expeditions, are well known to those that precipitated in them, that their were "people in the woods' other than them. Draw your own conclusions!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sasquatch Ontario has the episode loaded on their YouTube. As a US fan it won't matter I'll rewatch it when aired in US. All the stuff Les is doing is what I've read and followed regarding bigfoot. The only question I have is why these BF look so different. Very human. Can't wait for the second installment.

  39. I see my post has been deleted. Somebody not interested in the truth? There's an animal living in the forests of North America that has been seen by hundreds, if not thousands, of people and they are not all misidentifications. Most people don't report it because nobody wants to believe them. Too bad. Won't be long before the sceptics can eat sasquatch dung.

    ReplyDelete
  40. ALL I know is 90% or more of these so called bigfoot researchers/hunters would not know the outdoors from their own back yard and that is the truth people.....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bring me a dead one, or a bone, a tooth, something. The fact that nothing has ever been found says a lot. No hunter has ever shot one? Come on.

    ReplyDelete
  42. big foot is a worker for aleins.thats why none has been caught

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bigfoot / Sasquatch creatures are alien in nature and they go in spaceships that are hidden that explains why they are never found dead ;) REALLY !

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have question...in the episode which aired tonight, April 8, Les came upon a pile of droppings which was not bear scat, and which he characterized as "too large" to be human. Why not take a sample ( or the whole pile) and have DNA testing done?

    ReplyDelete
  45. He needs to fry up some bacon like that other "researcher". If you don't attract bigfoot, at least you get to eat.
