Northern Michigan Is Beautifully Squatchy
We've just applied for a trademark on the word Squatchy™ -- for scary Bigfoot-related items we're planning to sell online (only kidding!). You know what else is squatchy? Northern Michigan. Plenty of vocalizations have been recorded here by researcher Jim Sherman. Below are pictures from the scouting and filming of the Super Yooper episode of Finding Bigfoot in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Money money money money

I have always felt privileged that we can claim the U.P. as part of Michigan. It is so totally different. So wild. And if they ever break away I hope they still welcome L.P. folks.

A couple recent reports submitted to BFRO website from Northern Mich.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim Sherman. Brings back so many memories. Although Clare MI bills itself as the gateway to the north, draw a line from Bay City to Midland over to Mt. Pleasant and westward and this is the true boundary to the north. Once above there you are treated to all this beautiful scenery of forests, rolling hills, rivers and thousands of lakes and ponds full of wildlife. The air and waters are so clean and pure, and the wonderful aroma of the pine and cedar forest is exhilarating.
ReplyDeleteThe UP is such a special place as few towns and people disrupt its remoteness and ruggedness. Michigan is lucky that the dispute gave Toledo to Ohio and the UP to Michigan. I was very fortunate to have first found it as a youth and now vacation there every summer.
Should the Pure Michigan campaign ever tire of Tim Allen just give me a call. I will do it for free.
