This story was circulating the internet way back in 2004, or maybe as far back as 1999. Back when everybody was on 56k dial-up modems and a "Facebook" was just a regular book with directory listing of names and headshots. This story was so disturbing and so shocking that nobody believed it at the time. It was the Robert Lindsay " Bear Hunter: Two Bigfoots Shot and DNA Samples Taken " story of the time. And like Robert's Bear Hunter story , this witness didn't have a name. The only thing known about the witness is that this person was a government employee, anonymous of course. The author of the story was a science teacher named Thom Powell who believe it really happened and that the whole story was an elaborate cover-up. Powell said the anonymous government employee alerted the BFRO about a 7.5 feet long/tall burn victim with "multiple burns on hands, feet, legs and body; some 2nd and 3rd degree burns". DeleteRegarding Patterson intending to film a bigfoot, and filming a bigfoot:
He did specifically go to hotspots where tracks and sightings were reported.
He also went in with pack animals. He drove the animals in as far as he could, then he and Gimlin rode further into the backcountry on horseback.
Most current bigfoot seekers do not use pack animals. They drive SUVs out and car camp, maybe hike out a little further. Many just film from their car camps. This is really a long way, method-wise, from the tactic Patterson and Gimlin took.
There is your big difference. Patterson and Gimlin did it the old way. The presence of the horses might have been conducive to getting near a creature.
The next time you ask yet again how could it be Patterson went out to film a bigfoot and filmed a bigfoot, I will repeat what I have written here.

Every year I make my annual Holiday Okarchee Chicken Run to get some fried yard bird for the family. I was In a hurry so I took the European panty dropper. No sooner bad I arrived than the salty chips and home made me very thirsty. What I failed to realize was that in that particular area in Oklahoma on Sunday only served 3.2 beer. Surrounded by deep fryers and slamming 3.2 near beers to no effect I began to have problems with my vision. I AM GOING BLIND I screamed out to a tall angry waitress. "Relax darlin, you've just rubbed sawdust and vinegar into your contact lenses after they were already saturated with peanut oil and chicken grease. "Will you drive me home ?" Suffering from chicken blindness and alone in a strange bed in Oklahoma, the near beer had weakened my system. By the time I got home 2 days late with cold chicken the cough had taken hold. And now. It's all over but the crying game. I am very sad to be slowly passing into that good night.
