Watch this: Elk Headbutts Photographer
This young Elk must have seen this guy as some sort of adversary. During the rut, deer, moose, elk and other such animals can act pretty crazy. The thing is, they want to mate and will fight any adversary or possibly adversary that could potentially keep them from their appointed rounds. Rounds meaning their female harems.
This guy probably doesn't get a whole lot of action at his age and is likely frustrated. The photographer just happens to be at the business end of his frustration. Actually, this guy is extremely lucky. Had this elk been older and madder, severe injury or death would be the result.
