More so, it continues to create profits for those who promote it. It's like Patterson lit a torch that is carried by a cult of weirdos. I think he recognized a society that had people who liked the idea of Bigfoot existing as a fantasy and he gave them what they wanted. But I don't think he was a believer. I think he knew better.

It's in my humble opinion that Roger and Al hoaxed Gimlin. It all starts to make sense, especially with the no shooting unless it charges us agreement, and it wouldn't surprise me if Roger snuck blank cartridges into Bob's ammo case/rifle before they even left for the Bluff Creek site.

We are open to it being fake, with something to prove that of course. The film leaves none of us with any definitive answers. in the years since its filming, no person has ever come close to recreating what we see. Not even in hollywood.

A lot of these things you are speaking of were artifacts caused by copy after copy after copy of old film. As for the thigh,I am assuming you mean the bulge? Those who supported that it was real looked at that as an injury. However on the clean footage even that was not quite as huge as it looked. That "Diaper Butt" on the clean footage had a butt-crack. Though I do not think Sasquatch are Apes, if you are referring to the lack of sway in the but as it walks, simply look at that youtube footage of that gorilla that walks bipedal and it is the same thing going on with it's butt.
As for any inconsistencies between Patterson and Gimlin, I would be far more suspicious if they had come up with the exact same story. Ask ten witnesses of the same incident and each one will tell you something different.

People claim to see a lot of things. Ghosts, leprechauns (youtube leprechaun in alabama, all those people can't be mistaken) reptilian aliens.. and ohhhh. Santa Claus! We have pictures of dudes in suits playing those things too. As far as real biological specimens? uhm.... not so much.
The "pros" are always anti-kill because they know it can be milked this way. Then you have excuses, and outs, and all kinds of awesome "sightings" with no evidence, and no proof.
The truth is men love a good snipe hunt, and sometimes people are just fucking loony. Others love to lie, and tell a good one.

Before you demand to see his birth certificate and go on Rush Limbaugh to call him out, citing his association with known radical Muslim clerics, perhaps you might consider what my good friend MMG has said. That the efforts by the US military industrial complex to hunt and kill Bin Laden might be a tiny bit more than those troops and specialists committed to hunting Bigfoot.
