This is beautiful: Baby fawn gets adopted by dog [Video]

When their offspring arrive, mother deer generally tell their newborns to do one thing: Stay put. The parent will usually leave their newborn babies for a while to allow them to gain strength and recover from the whole birth thing (Because they don't want to hover over them and attract predators).

According to the video's description below, Pippin was "abandoned" by her mother and adopted by a Great Dane. We haven't watched the full episode yet so we don't really know the whole story behind the baby fawn's abandonment.

After being abandoned by her mother, a baby fawn, Pippin, was adopted by a Great Dane, Kate, and they have been best friends ever since. Kate's owner Isobel Springett describes the uniqueness of their relationship: "When they greet each other, I've never seen anything like it. It's not a deer greeting a deer. It's not a dog greeting a dog. It's definitely something that they have between the two of them." "Animal Odd Couples" premieres Wednesday, November 7 at 8/7c (check local listings) and is part of the 31st season of the Peabody and Emmy award-winning series produced by Thirteen in association with WNET for PBS. Major support provided by Canon U.S.A. Inc.
