The Bigfoot Diaries: The Incredible Story of Justin Smeja

If you've been living under a rock the past two years you probably haven't heard that in October 2010, a bear hunter named Justin Smeja shot two Bigfoots in the Sierras. In Bigfoot circles, this story is known as "The Sierra Kills".

While you can search our archives for the entire story that goes back as far as June 2011, when Robert Lindsay first broke the news-- The Bigfoot Diaries just published a superb article about the incredible story of Justin Smeja and the Sierra Kills. Here's a small snippet:
He and a friend (whom to this day remains anonymous) was bear hunting in the Sierra Mountains of California. They were off the beaten path in his friend's truck, driving along the twisted roads near Gold Lake. Suddenly they came across a clearing in the forest and standing in the road right in front of them was a giant "bear" waving it's arms frantically. It was very strange. What an odd thing for a bear to be doing...

    2. Kolja vs. Smeja, my money is on Smeja. At least Smeja pulled the trigger. I have a theory that Smeja is uneffected by mind blasting and infrasound.

Poor lil' fella has no friends.

  10. When I first heard of Justin Smegma aka Headcheese and the DNA testing being done on the samples I was very optimistic about the results, but as time goes by and nothing is produced the more it smells like a hoax.

    1. Smeja should have licensed revoked for shooting juvenile. True hunters don't shoot juveniles who can't protect themselves. I hope mama caught good sniff of him and tracks him down and gets her justice...if I was her I would. He purposely shot juvenile knowing it was a juvenile and openly and publicly admitting he shot juvenile... no excuse for shooting juveniles.just WRONG, ESPECIALLY having no remorse to watch the juvenile die in front of him. But since no REAL evidence,as usual, I think he made it up for his 15 minutes claim to fame...but if by chance his story IS real, he was wrong to shoot juvenile and just watch it die.

  13. When Melba Ketchum gets back from her hidy-hoe, I herd she is going to do a re-write of her bigfoot paper per publication in the Ney Yorker (yes she now lives in NYC.
Melba was offered a good amount of money for the rights to the whole story from the git-go, and a screen play is going to be written once the paper is out and about.

This is why nobody has seen hide or hair of Ms. Melba.

  16. It has gotten really old waiting and waiting for anything to come out. I think it very likely that someone out hunting might find a bigfoot. I can also see a hunter being more able to pull the trigger. Hunters see a different sight picture than other shooters. Most are not thinking about what is being shot but making the shot hit the mark and put down whatever instantly and as humanely as possible. They want one clean shot to result in one clean kill. At least the good hunters think this way. I checked out some of Mr Smeja's hunts, and while many call him a killer, murderer, poacher, etc, he appears to be a hunter. I wonder why he would have shot a "bear" if he wasn't sure of the target sometimes but maybe he knew what it was and decided to pull the trigger.

I have said several times I would do the same. Once a body is proved, there is no more doubt. But I have never been in that situation so who knows if I could shoot. Maybe once he did pull the trigger, he started being "zapped" or whatever that psychic ability crap is given to bigfoot, and that was why he took off. We don't know. And this late in the game, probably never will.

If he has a body he needs to release it. If he has the "steak" we need to see the testing results. Stop trying to get everything in order to make a buck. Release the proof and the money will pour in then.

  17. Your title makes this cold-blooded murderer seem like a hero. Justin Smeja needs his head popped off by a bigfoot.

  18. It sickens me to think he even took a shot. If this creature exists, you would have be bloodthirsty to kill it.
