I have been watching and scrutinizing videos of Bigfoot for slightly over a year now. I never thought much on the subject until last year. I was deer hunting with my then 17 year old boy when I heard two loud howls that ended with a guttural snort. It was out of the ordinary to say the least. My boy was 500 yards or so away from me and when we met back up the first thing he asked me was, "what the hell was that?"
It spiked my curiosity and I have been researching the possibilities since. I have heard very similar vocalizations on the internet that were reported as coming from Bigfoot. Was it Bigfoot? I have no idea, but it was not something I have heard before. I grew up in the woods, hunting and fishing and playing, but I am no expert when it comes to wildlife and the sounds they can make, But, that said, I have NEVER heard that sound or anything like it in all my years, only similar sounds posted on the net.
Anyway, that is what brought me here. What I find amazing is the rift between the knowers and the other knowers. One group knows without a doubt that they exist. The other group knows without a doubt that they absolutely do not exist. I don't know either way, but I am curious and interested. I would guess that both sides of the coin are curious at least, or why bother? If I totally did not believe for an instance then why would I waste my time? Of course, some people probably get a kick out of harassing the "believers". I don't see the point in it myself, but whatever.
So, lets discuss the fence sitters (me in particular). I want EVIDENCE. And when actual evidence is produced, I like to see breakdowns. (Serious breakdowns) and listen to intelligent discussions on the matter. I want someone with creds to evaluate and critique. I don't like it when certain groups throw the evidence under the bus strictly because of the rep the guy has that got the evidence, or that he has a mindset that differs from theirs. I don't know if Bigfoot can be habituated or not, but some of the people that claim they can have some damn interesting EVIDENCE.
I read the articles and watch the videos with much interest. I stopped reading the comments quite some time ago because of all of the negativity that was posted no matter how good the post or video. But what gets me more than that is when the groups of researchers act just like the anons in the comment section. There are many "researchers" out there that I don't trust and doubt the authenticity of their evidence, but that doesn't mean they won't get the hard evidence someday. Therefore I reserve judgement.
Ok, I'm going to say it. I think the tent video is really compelling. What bothers me is the lack of breakdowns and discussion. It seems to me it was discarded immediately after being discovered that Rick Dyer had something to do with it. SCRUTINIZE. Show us that it is fake. Show us that FBFB is completely full of shit. Don't just call them fakers and idiots and make jokes about them. I mean Dyer may have just taken credit for something he had nothing to do with once Kulls said it was his. I haven't seen any proof that he took the video other than the fact he has a tent of the same color. But assuming he took it, show us why it is a fake. It is better than anything else I've seen short the PG film. Happy hunting...

ReplyDeleteAgreed on the neck flexibility. I believe Bill Munns wrote something about the fact that Patty turns more like a gorilla (with her shoulders, not her neck) as opposed to humans, who have much more flexibility in the neck. Don't get that sense in the tent vid.

The answer, 12:03, is "both". Human beings have created havoc on the planet, killing way more than is necessary for survival. Humans kill for fun, which makes them a danger to all other living beings. Of course Bigfoot would remain elusive, with us knuckleheads around. But BF are also extremely intelligent and curious. If there is no obvious threat presented by a particular individual human being, and if a BF hasn't been traumatized by the actions of an armed human in his or her own personal past, that BF might very well approach a camp fire, to see what's going on, either just to satisfy his or her curiosity, or to monitor the actions of the camp occupants, for the good of the rest of that BF's family or clan or whatever.

DeleteWe are obligated by the tenets of basic inquiry and even common sense to consider the source of a video when no supporting physical evidence is available. The degree of authenticity of a video like this rests solely on the credibility of those involved in shooting it because there is no 'proof' that can be extrapolated from a video. For me, the inquiry begins and ends at the mention of Rick Dyer's name because you'd have to extend credibility to him that he has not earned and most certainly does not deserves. In fact, his reputation is so tainted it reduces the credibility of those who would suggest we overlook his involvement in any piece of evidence, whether it be video or physical. IMHO

Come the day when this creature is authenticated in the mad populaces eye. It will still be denied by many. This is going to be a huge paradigm shift for EVERYBODY. The fact that a bipedal animal four times bigger than us is out there is truly a game changer, even for a believer like me. DeleteYeah I am getting old and I may be gone before all the above transpires. But I know my experience with this animal was real. I am more of a sceptic than most of you of what I see on the Internet.
If you live in mid Michigan and you want to go lookin for "evidence" there are many places to go. The Rifle river from Omer west to melita Rd. is very quiet and full of food and cover. Look for stick structures or stacked rocks. I know people who have been canoeing on the river and have seen what looked like gorillas watching people on the river. At the northern most parts of the rifle river is the best. The locals say they have there very own Bigfoot up there. Huron national forest is huge and not many people around. Glad win and midland county's regularly have reported sightings, but be very careful. Wild pigs are around so be prepaired.
Take a gps, a HD stabilized camera and a lot of patience to start with. Don't go alone because the more the merrier. Who knows, you might find something and there is nothing better than a witness. So get out there and good luck

DeleteI have to agree the video is compelling . It isn't CGI so it's either a man in a good costume or a real bigfoot. The problem many people have is that it's coming from Dyer and the mention of his name is enough to discount anything to many people. Imagine if we had the internet back in the 60's ? Patterson didn't exactly have the best reputation either and the guy who claimed to be the one in the suit has passed a lie detector test which Gimlin has still not taken to my knowledge. There is a chance that both Patterson and Dyer got lucky and filmed a real bigfoot or they could have fooled us . The Patterson film does look real and you can even see muscle movement and for that time if it was a costume it was well done. Too bad they didn't go outside and do a better investigation like have someone stand next to that tree and film from the same position to show proportion. There are too many BS'ers in the bigfoot investigation field who make the rest look bad. Even though I wish this video was real Dyer's reputation will always cast doubt on it.

DeleteAll I can give is my opinion, Bob C. I dismiss this video as being a real Bigfoot because I don't find it compelling. The deal-breaker for me are the eyes which provide shade beyond the shape of the eye sockets, meaning the dark shadow extends into the sunlight, past the point where any part of the body can block out light.

ReplyDeleteCons: 1. Creature Profile. I have a hard time making out the profile of this alleged bigfoot, and from an artist's standpoint, this would be the most difficult to fake. Bigfoots have a sloping forehead and a cone shaped head - this would be very difficult to fake with a human in a costume.
2. Cameraman - Who was he? Was it Rick Dyer? If not, was it someone else? Why aren't there more details on who filmed this? I understand that some bigfoot experiencers wish to remain anonymous for valid reasons, but knowing who took the video and the circumstances around is a very important piece of the puzzle that would explain ...
3. Why was a Bigfoot this close in broad daylight? Bigfoots are hard to capture on film because they are nocturnal, illusive, stealthy, and fast! They're like giant Ape ninjas that can outrun us and outmaneuver us and don't want to be near us! That's why it's so difficult to get good footage - so how was this guy able to pull it off? A Fluke? I don't think so.
Pros
1. Facial dimensions. Again from an artist's standpoint, the dimensions are vary similar to Patty's in the side-by-side. Not the ratio of eyes, to nose, to cheekbones, to ears. Very similar.
2. Neck. Someone earlier mentioned that the bigfoot turns its head and shouldn't be able to. I disagree. These creatures would have some lateral mobility but would need to turn its body to make a full 90 degree head spin--and the creature does turn its body! Watch the video again if you missed it! Also the trapezius muscle is inhuman and in accordance to bigfoot descriptions and videos. This would be very difficult to replicate in a costume and would most likely require a cumbersome prosthetic.
3. The ear. Patty's ear is very difficult to discern. Side-by-side, her ear is a lot more clear. To me, a clearer video of a squatch would make the Patty video even more discernible as the viewer becomes more familiar with squatch features. The ear is in the same general area and the same general shape. Again, non-artists may think this is no big deal, but ears are difficult to get right.
Consulsions (plural for FB/FB) - Those of you who say this is definitively real or fake lose all credibility in my estimation--I agree with the guest blogger--Bob C is correct! Those of you who hate on FB/FB and continue to post your smug, easy skepticism reek of intellectual insecurity. If a video is obviously fake, why post about it unless you are in need of some odd negative validation? FB/FB may not be right all the time--they may not be right about their squatch origins theory--but they have the intellectual honesty to be true to their beliefs and to move forward despite the multitude of whiney negative skeptics out there.
Personally, I am leaning toward this video being real. Rick Dyer may have a similar tent. He may have even tried to take credit for this video--but if he's a liar then maybe he's jumping on the opportunity here since he has a similar tent! Maybe he did take the video and it is a real squatch. The boy who cried wolf did get attacked by a wolf eventually and Dyer has been out in bigfoot territory. Enough about Dyer. This footage looks very compelling. Like the Patty film, it's either real, or an extremely good hoax.

DeleteThe big problem with this video is that it looks a little too good to be real. This is the first close up of a "bigfoot's" face ever shot, as far as i know, so obviously (if it is real) it's going to lack a proper point of reference for the viewer. What do we compare it to? How can we say it's real, if what we're seeing is fantastical and unlike anything else? It was shot on an iPhone, it's not like we're seeing it in the flesh. It just looks a big hairy man, which we're told don't exist in science. The truth is, this could have been faked, and Dyer's name anywhere near it is more than enough to sway some people.

I recommend Dr. Jeff Meldrum's book on Sasquatch published in 2006. He compiled a lot of evidence and critiqued it. It's the most serious, comprehensive review of the physical evidence I've been able to find to date. I'm going to order Bindernagle's 2010 book next.

The people who complain the most about the "trolls" on here seem to spend the greater amount of their time stirring them up, and the lesser amount of time responding to the intelligent conversation they claim to desire. I think it's safe to say that the video is completely fake.
I can't dismiss the video as a fake and I think it is quite interesting. However, the circumstances around the video are suspect, which does make the video itself suspect no matter how hard someone tries to separate the two.
