More On The Ketchum-Ramey Fallout By A Member Of The "Sasquatch Protection Group"
The Sasquatch Protection Group was started by Dr. Melba Ketchum and her former publicist Sally Ramey. It's a place where people can discuss the protection of the "forest people" and how the government should protect them once Ketchum publishes her paper and prove the existence of Bigfoot. A recent statement published anonymously by a member who plans to leave the group explains quite a bit about what probably goes on behind the scenes between the two founders:

From a distance, but within the outer layer of the "protection group" I saw nothing but a cooperative and friendly person in Sally Ramey's posts.
She worked hard to bring like minded people together to build some kind of consensus for what "protection" might mean and what steps such a group could take realistically.
Beyond Ketchum's initial awkward post and rude threat to every member they would be banned if even mentioning the group's existence she never posted again.
Sally never gave much indication of her personal Bigfoot views but rather elicited the views of many.
Tom C. struck me as one of the most verbose, and most sure of himself and his view of Bigfoots. I didn't care for his posts in contrast to Sally's.
Of the many who posted I don't think any were alone in believing Bigfoots deserve better than being hunted down.
I am sad to see Sally go, as I can't think of any who would take that kind of polite time to deal with some real jerks, apparently including Ketchum.
Sally shut down the poster and posts that began the "Dogman" discussion, but come on folks, do you believe in Bigfoots but not some variant called Dogman? How about Swamp Monster?
Is your Bigfoot ape, or human, or supernatural? Should it be killed or protected?
I am sure whatever the answer some feel they are right and others wrong, like Rictor above, who sounds like a perfect jerk... like so many web podcast Bigfoot expert celebrities, another "tag along."
Where are the reasonable in this field? Not at this site, or anywhere that one can find.
I hope Sally is relieved to no longer be the target of insanity, but I do feel bad for her. Now I suspect the same thing as the first Anon comment here about Ketchum, and leaning toward the latter choice.
Funny the only people in the "know,' (such as Stubstad and the female PhD) get ousted. The big dollar contributors seem out of the loop as well. She fired her office web admin too it seems. And now Sally her biggest supporter.
Could be greed, more likely BS at the core? Wouldn't that be something and seemingly within the real of a real possibility, a fraud?
Anyone check to see if Ketchum is current on mortgages, etc?
Funny too, Paulides never posted in that group. He is giving a talk TODAY in Phoenix to the local UFO chapter for MUFON.
So that's where he has been hiding out, with the UFOers. Maybe telling them "411" is really about UFO abductions, or that Bigfoots are aliens?
Guess I will remove myself from that protection group anyway. Before I get banned first.

DeleteNo signing a NDA does not prevent one party in the NDA from suing another party of the NDA. If that is what Ketchum thinks she is getting really bad legal advice.
ReplyDeleteShe was hired to perform a service and if she has failed to do so, NDA or no NDA, she can also be sued for failure to perform.
This is why those BBB complaints were so important. She has a long history of not performing. She also has a long and sordid history of ripping off other peoples work. There are many, many people outside the Bigfoot community that said that the study was sunk before it ever got started when they found she was involved.
The only way, in my opinion, that she has any chance in hell of salvaging her reputation is to publish the name of the study and what journal it was submitted to so people can check for themselves that it was actually submitted in the first place. I hope that someone goes after her, because she put every project that she was involved with under a cloud of suspicion now.

I'm sorry, but when someone talks with that much venom I have to believe there is some disgruntled person trying to discredit someone. Has my mind been made-up? Not totally, but this field has a lot of anger and jealousy. I'm more for cooperation and sharing of ideas. This should have one common goal and that is for legitimizing the species and protecting it. Researching Sasquatch is my priority.

The names that she is likely to use when she changes the name of her business again.

When she was presented with the Smeja DNA, she was overwhelmed and had to send the samples to at least 10 other labs to do the work for her.
Sykes caught wind that there was actually something to the samples and he jumped on board.
Ketchum got a big head with all the attention. Made some glamour shots, had Sally do her PR (for free) and when things would go dark, Ketchum would leak shit to Lindsay because she is a glory hound.
Melba's name will be on the journal, because she initiated the work. However, she has not done any work to make her an expert in any way. Melba wants people to kiss her ass and when they don't buy her bull, they disappear. NDA's suck. The people who have signed them are obligated one way or another to abide by them. Even when they want to discredit what is going on.

ReplyDeleteDr. Ketchum is doing the very best any one could ever do under these circumstances. Dr. Ketchum realized years ago, after doing the DNA on hair samples provided by The Destination Truth group headed by Josh Gates(Be still my heart),that there really is something that goes bump in the night in the forest and runs around on 2 legs, and is much larger and hairier than us humans.
That DNA and the results started this event, and Dr. Ketchum has done nothing except work her butt off to put together a viable DNA paper, and to form a group that would help to legally protect this rare species from being hunted to extinction.
Sadly, people and money seem to have become an issue, and the difficulty of proving a new totally unknown to science species while trying to protect them has been time consuming and has taken a lot longer than ever expected to achieve.
The time has taken a toll on many, yet Dr. Ketchum has supporters who are and will continue to work with her to bring about Legal Protection for this species as soon as they are revealed to the public as truly existing. Plus the group is also working on helping people not to be frightened when this species is revealed.
This species has always lived in our woodlands, and will continue to lead peaceful lives if the Protection Group has any say in this matter, and trust me, we will and do plan on keeping them safe. Our main goal is to keep this species from being harmed or hunted to extinction which would be heartbreaking.
This article has many inaccuracies, and please do not believe everything that you see being posted online to garner attention and traffic at their various Sasquatch websites. I don't blame Shawn, nor the author of this blog for this because they were given warped viewpoints and inaccurate news to post about, but some BF blogs are just totally fabricated, while others may have a kernel of truth, yet the rest is wrong. Hopefully the truth will come out sooner rather than later and people will be able to discover the truth and the whole story..will finally be able to be told.
Frankly....Melba Ketchum has no obligation to anyone other than those involved in the study. The fact that a bunch of trolls on a website comment section or on other forums demand results is a bit naive...and comical. I agree with Linda...back off and stop the rumor mongering.

ReplyDeleteTo Big Jim Jr, I do not know which journal is publishing this article, I only know what the procedure is once the paper is accepted, and is in the line up for publication. Melba cannot say a word about the journal, nor when it will be published because that would break the journal's protocol, and then the journal would pull the article from their publication line-up. Frankly, I do not want to know who is publishing this article because then no one can ever say that I leaked something.

I am wondering if this Dr. Ketchum found out something about her or did she do something that she didn't like? How about was she doing something she wasn't supposed to have been doing? If she fired this Sally person and made it public as Sally has said "Why she have to make this a public thing?" I say she wanted the world to know that she was getting far away from her as possible. I also think this BBB stuff is bunch of BS, I had a uncle that use to have a plumbing business. He never paid the BBB membership and one person complained on him and he got lot of bad rap for it. But he suied the BBB and one. He now owns a multi-million dollar construction company thanks to the BBB. Just goes to show you that you shouldn't believe everything you read on the computer. You can read between the lines, this doctor must not trust Sally or she found something out that she has done or was doing is my guess. I don't believe in the bigfoot, but I am interested in seeing where this is going to go.

ReplyDeleteProbably too late to post on this and expect a response, but even if this species exists and is proven so by whatever means, how will they be at risk from being killed by humans any more or less than they have in the past? I'm not saying we're incapable of killing them, but apparently we're not successful enough in even detecting this species regularly, let alone 'hunting' them with cameras... so how would we be successful in killing the species off with guns???
ReplyDeleteGiven we can only assume their populations are low, I'm not sure how any state could allow a legal hunting season... not to mention wanton/waste laws for hunting that are meant to prevent killing during a hunting season without using some reasonable portion of the animal (i.e., eat it). I sure don't want to eat another ape :S

Folks, I know from sad personal experience that Sally Ramey is the creep here. Melba's ethics may or may not be questionable, but Sally is a truly vicious person who must be avoided at all costs. She is one of the most evil people I have ever run across. She approaches you through the Internet volunteering her help "for a good cause," and then starts attacking you behind your back, as she did to Melba, for example. I could get her fired from her day job the day I report her vicious and unethical (and probably criminal) activities to the small college she works at, committing this Internet fraud on their time and equipment. I could also sue her for every dime she's worth, and I might be able to put her in prison where she belongs. Believe not one word this vicious witch says. She is a dirty, underhanded liar, and I hope she roasts in hell. Moreover, I intend to see to it that she is never able to do what she did to Melba and no doubt others ever again. Sally, if you read this, you are a despicable human being, and you're the loser here. Chew on that, bitch.
