Bigfoot: The Romney Connection
Editor’s Note: Jonathan Poulsen is a cryptozoologist with a mere four years experience. But what he lacks in time he has made up for in progress.In the 1999 Fox special 'The World's Greatest Hoaxes: Secrets Finally Revealed', former American National Enterprises executive Clyde Reinke claims that another ANE associate, Jerry Romney (who is nearly 7-feet-tall), was the man in the 'suit' in the famous 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film allegedly depicting a Sasquatch. Reinke goes on to state that Roger Patterson was even employed by the Salt Lake City-based film company as a photographer (ironically, this cancels out a future claim that was to be made in the 2004 book 'The Making of Bigfoot' that Patterson was self employed for the greater portion of his short life and that he told his brother he'd starve to death before having to work for another individual).
Reinke also claims that Romney boasted about the amount of fun he had while participating in the hoax, much to the dismay of Romney himself (who flatly denied any involvement in the matter whatsoever). Now fast forward to 2012, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in debate with Newt Gingrich, boldly proclaimed "You have a SuperPac that attacks me, with probably the biggest hoax since Bigfoot". As we all know, Mitt is a Mormon, and the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is located in Salt Lake City, where Jerry resides.
I think it's quite safe to assume that these two are of family relation. Could it be that Jerry really was the man in the suit and that he boasted to his family about his involvement just as he did to Clyde Reinke in 1967? Was that why Mitt had no trouble referring to the Bigfoot phenomenon as a hoax on national television? It just may be. However, like most things relating to or denoting the Bigfoot phenomenon, this is not proven.

Well, since Patty's no suit because of her too long arms and a good ton of other reasons we can quit talking about Romney and other fake nutballs for that matter.

ReplyDeleteThe Pgf was supposed to be part of a documentary by Patterson and ANE and Roger,Bob G and Bob H were to be in it.When the deal feel through Roger kept the part of the film showing Patty(Bob H)ANE kept quiet about it after screwing Roger out of the deal and making their own movie giving Roger no credit.That's why only a few from ANE have said anything at all.This will become public knowledge later this year by someone very close to Roger but Bob G is still not cooperating and probably will always stick to the story.

No. I think Roger's film idea fell through a few months before October 1967. After Roger passed, ANE made a cheesy movie based on what Roger had in mind for his docu-drama. The ANE film used the PGF footage, so maybe that is why people think the PGF was meant for Roger's movie. It was not, it was a separate project.
DeletePatterson's documentary 'Bigfoot: America's Abominable Snowman' starring Patterson, Gimlin, Heironimous, and few of Patterson's other cowboy buddies was actually a finished project that was released by the BBC in 1970 and was shown through out movie houses and school auditoriums in the Pacific Northwest. It was shown at one of Don Keating's Ohio conferences, but the audience had no clue what they were watching from a historical point of view.
Delete^ I thought the scenes with Gimlin and Heironimous were part of the reel 1 footage that was not seen until Bill Munns got it and cleaned it up and shared it. I also believed that the barnstorming footage was done entirely by the BBC, except for the PGF. Thanks.

DeleteI completely agree. I don't care whether it's real or not; I just want the truth. Both delusional true believers and cynical debunkers (who claim to be skeptics) alike have to lie, cheat, and steal in order to comply with their belief system. But if it's not true, why do they even bother?
DeleteTwo reasons for that, they're afraid the truth will come out that this species (whether human related or alien) is really there since its existence doesn't fit the scientific and religious status quo for society (hence Ketchum giving us the runaround on her study results despite already confirmed as fact) and of course they're payed to do it as trolls here. It's a decades old cover-up now it's new times and who knows who they, feds maybe they already duped the 9/11 Commission on the planes' black boxes witnesses saw in the rubble yet mysteriously disappeared.

ReplyDeleteOf course Jerry Romney wore the suit. Clyde Reinke has no reason to lie about Romney admitting it to him. You can see the straightforward honesty in Reinke's face vs the deception in Romney's when both parties were interviewed for the Worlds Greatest Hoaxes show. Reinke signed Patterson's ANE checks from July to October 1967.

DeleteWhat reason did Jerry Romney have to lie? Reinke may just have a strong opinion on the matter, like so many others, and is using his tie to ANE to force that opinion on others. Who knows? What we do know is Romney said it was not him, and Reinke was not at Bluff Creek in Oct 67.

DeleteOne major factor why she's no suit is the fact that no person would fit into her physique let alone effortlessly strut about, it's in natural fact the most unlikely suit ever with those weird proportions and movements often reported. Nothing fake about it, screams genuine squatch. So for some to still think it's worth pretending fake goes a mighty long way in outing themselves and their agendas - some old suit who'd care, real unwanted species big deal.
