Was part of a Sasquatch skull found way back in 1965?

Editor's Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence intern Melloney TheEriduserpent. She lives in southern Spain and her various interests are herpetology, mythology, and ufology. Basically, everything supernatural.

One of the first things a sceptic asks a Bigfoot believer is "Why are there no bones, no skulls found, there would have been at least one found by now surely?". Well it is quite possible that we have had the "one" for over 40 years, a skull that was tucked away and forgotten about by the Department of Anthropology at UCLA.

Christened The "Minaret Skull", the specimen possibly of a non-human anthropoid was unearthed in the Minarets Range of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains by a Dr. Robert W. Denton. At that time he passed it on to a colleague one Dr. Gerald K. Ridge who then sent it to university for a second opinion.

The problem after all this time is finding it again, examined then "put away", it is now probably among a mountain of uncatalogued boxes in a storage facility in Chatsworth (San Fernando Valley). Now all that remains is for a highly motivated individual to spend the time searching for it "if" given the permission to do so.

Anyone up to the task?

Minaret Skull Mystery interview of Dr. Robert W Denton

Uploaded by Jaime Avalos on Aug 23, 2009
I go and visit Dr. Denton in his home on a hot August day. I talk with him about how he came to finding this skull on a Boyscout trip and his perception of the owner of the skull.

  1. Yeah nice, what a surprise we had a bigfoot skull but we lost it.

  3. While I applaud the writer's efforts, this skull is far from lost. Its precise location is known with that being at the lab of Dr. Melba Ketchum.

When Dr. Ketchum was compiling her samples the topic of this skull was brought up. Some dedicated students took the time to go through the storage facility and found the skull. In addition to the skull other bone fragments were also found and submitted. As a matter of fact the skull was found among a large number of other bones whose origin was attributed as being unknown. All the bones were found in the pacific Northwest and there was in fact a pelvis bone that resembled a human but was far to large to be human. This bone was labeled as "likely coming from a hominid that had yet to be discovered.

Dr. Ketchum attempted to obtain dna from these samples but did not have the equipment allowing for obtaining a usable sample. It will take extremely advanced dna sequencing techniques that only a few labs have the ability to undertake. The cost of doing so is prohibitive but her paper will reference the skull and the other bones- specifically the pelvis bone.

I have read a draft of the paper and based on this article I will suggest Dr. Ketchum add a more detailed description as to how she obtained these bones.

It looks as though it will be a minimum of another 9 months before the paper is published based on the latest set of requested revisions.

For those of you who are interested in seeing pictures of the skull and the other bones you will be able to upon the release of the documentary "Sasquatch: The Quest. There is a relatively detailed segment where a number of paleontologists examine the bones and explain why they believe there is no way they can be of modern human origin.

The movie will be well received by Sasquatch enthusiasts as it attempts to answer many of the basic questions as to the existence of Sasquatch including why a body has never been discovered. Those interested will be able to see these bones and a number of others that have been discovered over the years and answers the question by saying that a number of bones have indeed been discovered by have been ignored by main stream scientists. Many of these bones are actually in the possession of many college and universities with those in there charge essentially holding onto them so they have pieces for study once the Sasquatch is proven to exist.

    4. I am working on a documentary called "Sasquatch:the Quest, the Quest" it is about the search for the purported existence of a Sasquatch documentary. There have been a few sightings of the elusive film, but no conclusive proof.

    5. +1. I would definitely like to see "Sasquatch: The Quest: The Quest", but I understand that you need to ensure that your film is done properly, so I don't expect to see it for the next 6 years. Just give us tantalizing updates and send any rumors to Bob Lindsay and things will just be business as usual.

    6. Do you idiots know how long it takes to put together a show , fund it ,and dealing with networks? Today's "I need information right now" it doesn't always happen. I was in one movie as an extra and it was filmed in 2006 and released in 2010. 4 years. Tv show ( reality) was filmed in 2010 and released 9 months later mostly due to programming slots. So get over the time frame . People keep putting time frames on stuff that are only guessing and guess what? Things get delayed for many reasons ! Get over beating people up over release dates. Science takes time. It's always evolving.

So, this documentary is science? huh?
Most science doesn't first appear as a full length feature film, but a paper, or actual data from actual scientists.

    11. If it's true that the DNA study has been put off because of more requests for revisions then I would have to say the publishers are chicken shits who are afraid to tarnish their image.
Dr Melbum, I would highly suggest you take your paper to another science journal that isn't so scared!

    12. First off, who the hell are you with all of this inside information that you won't use your name. If you're not willing to put your name out there you shouldn't make comments like this EVEN if you're legit.

Second to the person who commented on how long it takes to put a show together, they had a program about how the SEALs killed Bin Laden within a week of his death. They also had a show about SEAL Team 6 within a week. So it doesn't take that long to put a show together if all the facts are present.

    13. One time I went on a hunting trip and set on stand for several hours. I used a Bowtech Patriot and Brim Reaper broadhead to to kill a 170 inch 16 point buck. The point to this little story is: I don't know the DNA sequencing of the deer, the molecular makeup of the compounds used to construct my bow, the thickness of the steel used to build the broadheads, etc. ...... Talking about killing the deer and the hunt is alot easier than the science behind every single compound or molecule involved in proving the deer, bow, etc. are real.

    14. If you really were a professional in this medium,(enough to give Dr Melba advice re her paper) or indeed apparently knowing all about the film world, not only would you not insult people " Do you idiots" et al ( i never hear Dr Grover Krantz or Dr Jeff Meldrum insult anyone ) nor would you feel the need to keep yourself anonymous, so i feel very sorry for you.
P.S. If you had any scientific background at all from any real university then your grammar would be correct.

  6. I like this story. I even clicked on the BFRO link to read some more. My comment has more to to do with the BFRO website. It is a wealth of interesting info but OMG the design is terrible and you can't find anything. Now that MM has found some financial success with the show....can you please hire a web designer and redesign the site so info can be found? Please.

  9. The Minaret Skull has not been found yet. Melba Ketchum does not have it. The recovery of it would have been managed by the Anthropology Department at UCLA, and it would not be a secret. It certainly would have been in the news before it would have gone to Melba Ketchan ... and moreover, UCLA would NEVER have sent it to MELBA KETCHUM !! She's not even a PhD !!

    1. On this forum any anonymous wannabe filmmaker can hype his phony story and troll for possible funding at the same time -- troll with nothing more than bogus claims. There's always that catch: The intriguing claims won't be authenticated any time soon, and date may be continually evasive. You will be strongly assure that the fantastic claims will be revealed in the undefined future (after a Blair-witch-style social media blitz to promote the film).

Yeah, yeah. I get it. It worked before. It's a slam dunk. Like taking candy from a baby. You can get the buzz going faster if you tie the story to some pre-existing hype (Melba Ketuchum). All you need some intriguing sounding claims to start with then hope they take on a life of their own.
