Texas Sighting of 7 Foot Tall Biped

Editor’s Note: Jonathan Poulsen has been researching the Sasquatch since 2008, but really involved himself heavily in 2011. He has since devoted his life to the near impossible challenge of verifying the existence of the Sasquatch. Shawn refers to him as the Bigfoot encyclopedia.

In the comments section of my previous article, a person who prefers to remain anonymous describes their sighting with what may be a Sasquatch.

"I don't know about his picture or him, but I am 52 years old, and I have never told anyone this before but when I was about 11 years old I was traveling with my grand parents to a town in Texas called avenger, after getting their about 7 pm my dad and uncle wanted to go night fishing,we went to the lke called lake of the pines, my dad and uncle was in the small flat bottom boat and I was fishing from the bank. By about 10 we had caught a few fish, well they were way out in the boat, I was on the bank fishing under some huge power lines, well standing there. I could hear like a vibrating sound from the lines, I was looking up and suddenly I herd I loud growl from the trees, when I looked with my flashlight what I saw I have never forgot,or have never told anyone but my few family, I saw a hairy man creature my guess 7 foot tall 450 lbs my guess staring at my he looked for about 20 seconds and walked into the woods, I know what I saw I still dream about it from time to time, I don't want money or fame just to tell you what I was as a young boy in Texas one winter night, so if you don't believe it's ok but I know what I saw and it still haunts me, I am not hiding anything if you want more details you can email , Thank you. wabbott11@aol.com".

The weight estimate of 450 pounds seems minimal for an animal of that height. A better figure, in my opinion, would be approximately 600 pounds.

    1. when I was between 7 and 9 yrs old myself and 5 or 6 other kids were playing in a stream on the south mountain of nova scotia. On weekends most of the family would get together at my grandmothers so all the kids would always hang out at a place called aggy's pond it was shaped like a bathtub and you could lay in there and a small waterfall would run down over your neck. after running around up and down the mountain it was nice to get in and cool off.One afternoon near supper time we were just doing our usual splashing each other and stuff. It was getting late anyway something started throwing rocks all around us nobody was hit by even one rock, good thing when i look back because they were some big ass rocks.when we started to run up the animal trail that lead to my grandmothers whatever threw the rocks made a very fast exit. we got to my grandmothers to see if it was just family messing with us but they were all there playing cards and diddnt know what the hell we were talking about.I dont know what threw the rocks but by the size of them it wasnt your average person, and the speed it got up over the brook bank I mean scared kids move pretty damn fast and this thing was gone.I dont recall any smell or anything like that and we werent looking for any tracks.I never even thought about bigfoot at that time in my life.It was only years later when we were all in our teens sitting around at one of the other kids place that the possibility of it being a sasquatch came up. I dont know what it was but whatever it was diddnt try to hurt us but diddnt want us there on that day.I will never forget that.

    2. quite possibly the novia scotia version of the nj devil. low elevation, swampy?

      Delete
    3. actually exept for the brook itself it was mostly slate rock until you start to climb the bank and at that time the forest was very dense although when you follow the brook up the mountain to the spring where it starts it is pretty swampy up there. we didnt do that often for fear of bears.

  11. If you look, it is nothing more than smoke coming up from a fire. You can see the sticks of firewood below. Another classic case of Pareidolia.

      Anon 6:55,

I see the "flames" of the fire as the Bigfoot image. We're definitely on the same page though. I'm just wondering if it is smoke (like you say) making the figure or flames like I believe?

      Delete
    3. It definitely looks like a fire.

    4. @Anon 7:56

Yes exactly, it is the smoke from the fire I am talking about.

      Delete
    5. Or a combination of both fire and smoke

      Delete
    6. That's not smoke from a wood fire you morons. It wouldn't be that white and that uniform. That's as asinine as people saying it's Bigfoot.

      Delete
    7. Being that it is a black and white picture, what other color would the smoke/flames be?

      Its definitely a wood fire.

      Delete
    8. I agree, that's not smoke from a fire unless it a huge fire pictured from far away and the column of smoke was a thousand foot tall. Some of you people should get out more.

    9. It looks more like a nimbus cloud photographed right below a ridge on a mountain. 9:58 is probably a JREF simpleton.

    10. You turds will say anything or argue any point as long as it detracts from the real story. The truth is: this image is NOTHING MORE than FLAMES from a fire. However, keep arguing the moot point about it not being "smoke". What really matters is that it's definitely a fire burning AND what we are seeing is FLAMES creating the image. Game over.

    11. That's not smoke from a fire shit for brains. Stop thinking about Bigfoot, it's rotting your brain.

  12. This is a nice post. I always like reading witness accounts.
Jonathan, you stated your own opinion that the Bigfoot the gentleman saw would more likely be "approximately 600 pounds".
Roger Patterson estimated Patty to be between 6 1/2-7 ft. tall and weighing between 350-400 lbs.
This gentleman states he saw a 7 ft. creature weighing about 450 lbs.
I'm not sure where you get an extra 150 lbs. from.
I'm only pointing that this gentleman's description is in line with another sighting with regards to height and weight.

    1. The animal in the PGF was 6"6 and the depth of the prints at the site suggest that "Patty" was 500 pounds or more. Grover Krantz wrote that adult males would stand 8 feet tall and weigh 800 pounds. My weight estimation is within reasonable limits.

      And age!

      Delete
    5. Neither am I, as there is no such thing as a Sasquatch expert. It's just that that is the standard methodology applied to height/weight estimations. The height/weight of an average gorilla is 5 1/2 feet tall and 400 pounds, where as a human of that height would weigh only 125 pounds.

  14. Lake of the pines is a creepy place. Years back, a friend of mine had a brother in law playing at a concert there. They picked up this girl hitch-hicking, Shortly there after, they were stopped on the road by a couple bikers. They ended up scattering her brains all over the inside of thier van. Took them many months to get clear of the incident with the authorities. There is a lot of wierd crap happens around there. Ghost stories too i think!

    Sorry, off topic!
