California Bigfoot Researchers: Watch Out. Man Recently Became 15th Person Attacked By Mountain Lion Since 1890
Mountain lions in California are common but rarely seen, and attacks on humans are even rarer than Class A Bigfoot sightings in Connecticut. On July 1st though, a 63 year old man became the 15th human since 1890 to be attacked by a mountain lion in California. His injuries were minor and he is expected to live but how the attack happened is different than the ambush attacks mountain lions are known for:
The man – whom officials have not named -- was asleep in his sleeping bag near the Yuba River in Nevada County when he woke up to "pressure on his head" at about 1 a.m., department spokesperson Patrick Foy told KXTV, ABC's affiliate in Sacramento.
That pressure was a mountain lion's paw.
The animal reportedly bit and clawed through the man's sleeping bag for up to two minutes, leaving him with "severe scratches and several puncture wounds," according to a department statement. It also bit through the man's cap and his clothes.
Then the mountain lion stopped, walked 15 feet away to stare at the hiker, and disappeared, the hiker reported.
In 122 years only 15 attacks? Geez, why are people afraid of these creatures? They're next to harmless. But no, people shoot them to defend their stupid chickens.
ReplyDeleteBecause they have been known to drag off small children you fool. Get a clue!
DeleteThat's one of the myriad reasons a parent is supposed to keep an eye on their kids, duh. What, we have to childproof the entire planet? Sheesh, whatever.
DeleteWhat is it about this site that attracts radical animal rights activists? You hicks don't just fuck goats do you? You really love them!
DeleteSteven, farmers have a right to defend their property (chickens) from Predators (cougars). If you don't respect their right to property then you yourself do not have a right to property. Respect the rights of others asshole.
my maths may be off but 1890-2011 equals 121 years and at 15 total that's 1 ever 8.06 years.
DeleteLess than a bigfoot sighting :)
As far as farmers protecting chickens, same answer: IT'S YOUR REPONSIBILITY TO WATCH YOUR ANIMALS, YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO A PREDATOR-FREE PLANET. I love it when mountain lions eat some stupid farmer's chickens, it teaches him a valuable lesson. "Rights", jesus, what tool. Whiney-ass babies.
DeleteI get attacked by cougars ever time Im at my local bar.
ReplyDeleteAny tater hole action?
DeleteIt's like there is all most a joke, but not quite.
DeleteDo you have their numbers?
DeleteYep,BR5-49.
DeleteOnly 20 deaths in North America between 1890 and 2011, including six in California. Nothing to get excited about.
ReplyDeleteCrazy thing is the young cougs (< 2 years old) that don't appear scared of humans over the last decade or so. Prob what happened to this guy.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there hasn't been a Class A sighting in CT for at least a decade. Just not dense enough forest up here. However, there was a mountain lion that made headlines here last year because it got hit and killed by an SUV. They analyzed its DNA and found the same genetic markers as the ones in South Dakota.

Well - natural selection I guess. End of that bloodline.
DeleteNever heard of a cat getting hit by a car here in the West.
In fact, they avoid highway crossings like the plague - check the radio collared population in WA State. You can track where they go - big ass territory for each animal.
Sorry dude, not your best effort. Gotta step up
ReplyDeleteHey dork 526 i would shoot your sorry ass for messing with my chickens.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a bumper sticker I seen. It said;
ReplyDeleteI LOVE CATS....DEAD ONES
My sentiments exactly.
Reminds me of a bumper sticker I seen too:
ReplyDeleteNuke a gay baby whale for Jesus
Never could figure it out
