Watch Discovery News Talk About The Oxford Bigfoot DNA Study, A Giant "Car-Size" Turtle, And Solar Eclipse

When it comes to reporting science news in a not-so-boring fashion, we can always count on the Discovery Channel to "edutain" us in way that it doesn't put us to sleep. Watch this news guy below as he tries his best to maintain the Discovery Channel's high standard of delivery by being educational and entertaining at the same time, but fails miserably.

  1. So they are not hoping to find bigfoot or a yeti but a new species, a new species of what exactly, animal, vegetable, fish ?

But what if they do find hominid dna which is a new species will they be making up their own name for it, I guess it will be named after an important geneticist then.

    1. Thats a good question. I think the answer is no. Dna studies are comparative. If they get samples from a neanderthal, or something else for which the dna has been studied, then obviously they will say "its Neanderthal." If the samples come from an unknown species(or one like giganto where the bones didnt cough up dna), I imagine they will tell us what they think its close to and why.

  3. Has the Cat Vet *Ketchum* seen this? You have to wonder if she is going to submit any of her; so called "hundreds" of samples. Here is your chance Ketchum, to have real scientists analyze your samples. My money says none of Ketchum's samples will make into this legit study.

    1. Yet again we have an example of complete rudeness exceeded only by a display of total ignorance. My money says they will be looking for independent samples anyway, doofus.

    2. Ketchum hasn't been posting any status on her FB lately since the journal rejected the article for probably the last time.

Back to cats I guess !

  4. Ketchum was playing the "waiting game". There never was a paper imo, but the longer it "stayed in review" the more "real" it became. Then she can just say "men in black" took it or whatever, but heres the book. And no her rep as a dna tester wont be tarnished, Because shes a vet, and probably close to retirement anyway.
