Watch 3.5 Minutes of Dr. Grover Krantz "Greatest Hits" [Bigfoot Researcher]

Editor’s Note: Jonathan Poulsen has been researching the Sasquatch since 2008, but really involved himself heavily in 2011. He has since devoted his life to the near impossible challenge of verifying the existence of the Sasquatch. Shawn refers to him as the Bigfoot encyclopedia.

This video is a compilation of various documentary film clips featuring the late Dr. Grover S. Krantz. Krantz was born on November 5th 1931 in Salt Lake City as a Mormon, but later scrapped his religious views in order to focus on his scientific thinking. He always had an interest in the Sasquatch, but he only really started taking it seriously after examining a pair of footprints found in the snow near Bossburg, Washington in 1970.

He was an avid supporter of the 'No-kill' movement that was popular among researchers in the early 1970s (later however, with researchers such as Robert W. Morgan and Peter Byrne, this all changed). Krantz died in 2002 after spending 30 years as an anthropology professor at Washington State University.

  1. He went from a possible population of 200 to 2,000 in the Pacific North West. Interesting.

  2. There was an "In Search of ..." episode in the late 70's where he seemed pro-kill. I think he said it did not matter if you kill the last one, since it would become extinct anyway. Maybe I remember it wrong, or he changed his mind. I'm going to watch it again after work, if its still floating around the web.

    3. You're welcome, I think the video above must be parts spiced together of the initial"In Search" interview you were referring to.It's awfully choppy.

  3. I had the pleasure of receiving replies to two emails I sent before he passed. I had serious doubts about two pieces of evidence, and Krantz was kind enough to take the time to explain his reasoning. I respect the man for taking the time to respond and address my concerns even though I was just an interested stranger to him. A class act.

    1. What were the two pieces of evidence that you had your doubts about?

  4. I inquired about the circumstances of some of Paul Freeman's dermal ridge findings featured in "Big Footprints". Also, we discussed some photographs (several exceptionally clear stills) allegedly taken by a ranger, that Krantz had initially found promising. Again, he was gracious, and his responses were thoughtful. I have had the pleasure of enjoying the same experience with Dr.Meldrum. These men did not have to take the time to respond, and i appreciated their time and effort very much.

    2. I think he may be talking about the Wild Creek photographs taken by an anonymous off-duty forest ranger in Snoqualmie, Washington in July 1995. The ranger supposedly took a total of 14 photos of a 7 to 10 ft. tall Sasquatch, 7 of which were purchased by Bigfoot Central founder Cliff Crook (who most regard as a hoaxer). Krantz didn't really publicly endorse their authenticity, but he said something along the line of "I can't make any definite conclusions, but they sure look good". Something that is quite apparent to me is that the creature in the Wild Creek photos strongly resembles William Munns' life-sized replica of Gigantopithecus blacki.
