Poll: Would You Be Afraid To Go Into the Forest If Ketchum Proves Bigfoot Is Really Out There?

Editor’s Note: This is a post by Bigfoot Evidence contributor Vicki W.

Bigfoot Evidence brings information to you daily about the latest news in the Bigfoot community. But we'd like to hear from you, our readers, about something. So we hope you'll participate in a little poll we are doing, and will also elaborate about your answers and thoughts in the comments section below the poll. Here's the scenario we've cooked up:

For the sake of this poll, let's say that the Ketchum DNA project moves forward with successfully proving the sasquatch as an existing species. The study is accepted, the film and pictures are authenticated. Let's even say that contrary to what we have been told, the juvenile involved in the Sierra shooting was retrieved in secrecy, so there is absolutely no doubt about the species existence. They are out there. However, there is no data about their behavior. We do not know if they are a threat to humans or may be dangerous. We just know they are living in the forests and are huge and powerful enough to harm or kill if they felt threatened or for whatever reason chose to attack.

The poll deals with questions about how this will impact people regarding camping, hiking, or entering forests in general.

Would You Be Afraid To Go Into the Forest If Ketchum Proves Bigfoot Is Really Out There?

We hope you have fun with this one, and please remember to comment with explanations of your answers or thoughts about this hypothetical scenario.

  6. So you so far have 5 people who say It doesn't matter what Ketchum says, I still won't believe it anyway. Even though in the question it CLEARLY states
"there is absolutely no doubt about the species existence" yet you STILL won't believe?

I bet you don't believe in Mountain Lions or Bears either

  8. I would go camping and use Ketchums report as rolling papers for my gonja. Me and ol' squatchy could toke and laugh at all of you fools who don't believe in him.

  9. Nothing would really change, because if (or rather when) proven real it'd also prove they won't harm you because there's been numerous people out there both hiking and searching, like the Finding Bigfoot show for instance. The species were there and did't harm them. At least the risk seems small, it's there no doubt if you irritate an 8 foot tall guy so better back off and show no aggression they'll leave you alone then.

    1. 9 out of 10 people that post and reply on this blog never go into the woods at all.
      Why would that change?
What would they have to be afraid of?
      The sofa cushion?

    2. Abe hit the nail on the head. Most people that believe in Bigfoot haven't spent much time in the woods, if at all. If they did, they'd realize how silly this whole Bigfoot thing is.

This past weekend, we were on a hike and something was moving along with us, about 20 ft away. After taking a closer look, we discovered it was a weasel and he wasn't the least bit afraid of us. Most BF believers would have turned tail and ran, without finding out what it actually was. Then they would've sent the report to BFRO and said they had a class B.

    3. It just could've been a Bigfoot and harmless or not, you'd have to figure out what clothes go well now with your new white hair.

  10. I have "known" for 23 years, I get as far out as I can for as long as I can, as often as possible. Nothing will change if a paper is published. Squatches are not going to just come strolling out of the woods saying "ok you got us" because some silly humans get a paper published. I doubt they can read.

    LOL.

    1. The only thing I would be afraid of "post discovery/acceptance" are the weekend warriors out in the woods with AR-15's & AK's trying to bag a Squatch.

    2. Only morons would ever think of that, modern civilized people don't kill other great apes it as simple as that. This primate's even bipedal putting them yet closer to us. So forget this macho hunting animal crap, let Smeja's mistake be a lesson to you.

    3. @12:07 - Unfortunately, modern, civilized people do kill primates and apes. Some for food, some for trade and some as pests. We also kill a lot of our own sub-species. The fact that chimps and gorillas have cognitive abilities and emotions has not brought them out of being "animals", in the hearts and minds of people. Hell, they share a very exclusive class with us and still, they are just a dumb animal, right?!
Bipedalism might help, but however close or far they may be, a majority of people (H. Sapiens Sapiens) will assert that they are a lesser being and therefore, just a dumb animal.

There are a lot of dumb ones that show up here regularly. That doesn't means we would kill them, tempted as we may be from time to time. Mind you, for some the times have not changed that much from the days of Buffalo Bill. If it moves, shoot it I say. But only if it is wearing camo and has a licence to shoot a bear that looks like Lindsays sketch.

  11. If irrefutable proof was offered, through papers, articles or media, I HIGHLY doubt that it would change the Sasquatch behavior at all. It WILL change our behavior, though. If we minimize our change, any reaction to us will be very similar to what occurs now...
Wether you know they exist or not, the danger in the woods will be the same and could be lessened, with proper education that could follow a time of knowing they exist.
Enjoy and respect nature as you always have... or stay in the city as you always have. Those who go looking for trouble usually find it... wherever they go.

    1. Okay, as a retired Infantry Officer, Army... For an advanced 'look' at the word afraid I, offer this. When employed in austere environs', it is a very good thought process to evaluate being 'afraid' or being in 'fear' of a thing or process. Many professional conduct themselves, SF, POLICE MARINES and civil FIRST RESPONDERS, and others when inside austere surroundings. So, maybe, a discussion needs to be presented on the difference of being afraid or scared and fearful or respectful of an opponent or process. To the quick of it all - afraid is losing control of faculties in degrees of performance. Basically, afraid is being scared and not being able to function under severe duress. However, fearful of a thing or process is being respectful and remaining functional in performance. I hope you see the difference, in terms. If you are afraid, then, perhaps you should not engage in the process for chances are you may get hurt. An example would be jumping from airplanes. A poor example yes but effective. We all should be fearful of jumping from a perfectly good airplane or helo however, with experience, we manage fear levels though 'incedent's. Over time, a jumper becomes more proficient via successful management of fear while increasing respect for a process that could kill him or her. To be afraid is to freeze, seize or stop performing. Many have seen this or experienced it first hand (being afraid). All of us have been afraid and somehow managed that into a fearful respect through experience bu either jumping from planes, combat or quiet observation while in a Bigfoot Environ... I did not take the quiz because I thought the questions that should be asked were not. However, I close with this - BF does exist or at least something that mimics BF behavior well. The knowledge of this behavior despite 'expert' experience or accounts is basically and for the most part - unknown. Be very - very fearful! To be afraid might get you killed in at least not directly from a BF but by the surroundings you have walked into...

    2. [applause] Nicely said!
By those definitions, while hiking in the Cascades, I am "fearful" of bears/cougars/etc..., but that fear does not consume me... I am not "affraid". You're right, it is out of respect that I fear them. I am every bit as likely to go out there for recreation, regardless of the most recent cougar sighting or bear sensus, because I understand how to handle those situations... and the overall unlikeliness of encountering either.
Not going to lie though, I would likely be "affraid" if I encountered something that I had no experience with... therein, lies the danger, however unlikely.

  12. “We just know they are living in the forests and are huge and powerful enough to harm or kill if they felt threatened or for whatever reason chose to attack.”

So do bears and mountain lions. Nothing changes with the proof of Bigfoot. You just have to respect them and they will respect you.

In my honest opinion, this is just one of the reasons that the public is not being made aware of their existence. It would change the world. It would change the way we live life. It would change history. Same reason there are “coverups” about a lot of things. Society is comfortable with what it’s believed and how it’s lived for thousands of years. To change that now would be shattering.

Also, I think if Sasquatch is finally proven to exists, there will be many more people out to kill one. Or more people carrying firearms. A new breed of Squatch hunters so to speak. This species will not be at piece. At least until the “bigfoot” phase passes and he becomes just another creature in the woods like deer and bears. New things are scary. But the truth is, they’ve been around all along and you haven’t been killed by one so don’t change the way you do things.

    1. SH, I agree authorities know and let them alone but you're missing the point slightly though. You can take it to the bank this species exists, it really does, so it's important that we remove this veil covering up the subject because the species is evidently not an animal. That must and will be made public. Therefore there will be no hunting them, there wouldn't be that anyway because even Americans can't be that stupid to shoot great apes bipedal to boot. So in either case we'd see rights and protection laws.

    2. "because even Americans can't be that stupid to shoot great apes bipedal to boot."

You have more faith in your fellow man that I do. Smeja clearly shot himself a bear? Don't thinks so and neither did he think so, but he still squeezed the trigger. Be fearful in the woods folks, and be afraid as well while ever these wankers walk the woods with guns and intent. He was not the first or the last to shoot without identifying what was in his sights. Might be time to wear fluoro jackets in the woods, and maybe a flashing blue/red strobe light on your head as well.

Unfortunately, laws only work when people obey them. Good luck with that.

  13. Ketchum along with bigfoot does not exist. I will happily camp out in the forest as I do all year round currently. No sightings of an ape, no "howls", no eyeshine, no treeknocks, nothing. Bigfoot doesnt exist.

You know it's funny you say that. I saw an episode once of Destination Truth with "Ketchum" supposedly doing a DNA test. He )Josh Gates) interviewed her an everything. Fast forward to this website, The picture of Ketchum floating around this website is an entirely different person.

  16. Well it wouldn't be a problem for me here in CT, but if I was anywhere else I might be a little creeped out. Fear wouldn't really be logical because there are very few reports of sasquatches being aggressive. We can learn a lot about their behavior from eyewitness reports, so as long as you are aware of what is curiosity, what is territorial, etc, I don't think it would be much of an issue.

  22. As someone that has seen them up close, I can say you have nothing to fear as long as you behave. It will change your life and teach you that there is a God and that Jesus is with him and that you have NOTHING to fear. People that say they are the "Devil" are full of SHIT AND IGNORANT! As long as you are calm and pure of intention, you will be OK. They are magnificant beings, although strange, bizarre, and scary, they are NOT demons, ghosts, or anything more or less than yourself! Just intelligent beings from a different world outlook, NOT A DIFFERENT WORLD! Of course, like people, some are more dangerous than others for various reasons, but most are kind, patient, and tolerant, unless they think you are a threat. They are wonderful to experience in a wild cougar/orphan child sort of way. In a way that once it happens to you, you will seek them for the rest of your days and they WILL become your best friends and change the lives of everyone you bring to their truth. Sounds corny, but it is true, they are awesome! and shouldn't be changed by anyone! Not to say that aren't capable of great harm when threatened. Just look into the book "Missing 411", some are nasty and likely the last thing you will ever see, but most are very wild and pure of heart, like every wild thing in this world. I just wanted some "truth" out there for "those with eyes to see and hearts to feel".
