Why A National Bigfoot Organization

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by Tom Fonner. He has been exploring the backcountry of Arizona for over 30 years. Recently a segment of the Bigfoot community has taken a stand against new investigative and research organizations in the United States. They have based their position on a premise that new groups have a lack of credibility and integrity in their quest to verify the existence of Bigfoot. They specify that new groups are emerging to cash in on the rise in popularity of the Bigfoot phenomenon. This segment of the community uses their recognition as an arena to spread falsehoods about many groups who proceed honorably in the investigative process.

There have been many points presented as warning signs for the Bigfoot community to be aware of prior to trusting or accepting the new groups in this field. Most of these revolve around a drive for financial gain and fame rather than the goal of verifying the existence of Bigfoot. This segment of the community counters this by promoting those research and investigative groups that have had recognized operations over the past decade or longer. They stress that the longevity of these groups and their efforts to find Bigfoot places them in a position of trust.

The problem that exists in the Bigfoot community is the drive for financial gain and fame as a priority, and this problem exists with all segments young and old. There are many established and recognized research organizations that promote themselves extensively through the sell of books, videos, membership fees, charges for expeditions, and gains from television and other media. Some of these organizations claim that they need the financial backing to continue their extensive investigations, and this claim should also be treated with skepticism. There should be equal standards of trust and acceptance of investigative groups regardless of longevity.

Those interested in the verification of Bigfoot have a difficult task of deciding who they can trust. The vast array of information available has created a lack of trusting due to those that have self serving interests. All individuals or groups involved in this process should be looked at with scrutiny and many questions should be considered before trust is given to anyone. This is a problem that must be resolved, and the need for consolidation of efforts by those trusted in the community has become a priority.

There has never been a better time to strive for the formation of a National Bigfoot Organization. Trust is imperative for the study and verification of Bigfoot to move forward without the consistent infighting that currently plagues the community. The majority in the Bigfoot community want a network of groups and individuals that can be trusted with evidence and with the dissemination of information. Their are those that have established themselves and can be trusted to develop and organize this over time. The first step to the process is to create an evaluative system for selecting those put at the center of a national organization. These steps should be made public to gain acceptance, and guidelines should be put into place for the organization's role in the Bigfoot community. Hopefully there will be those who will take the initiative to promote and establish a national system of evaluation, verification, and trust that will be accepted by all those involved.

Trust is earned and 'Never' given.

  2. What established BF organizations are covertly bashing new investigators or groups?
I can think of several that do such, but not because they are credible, but because they are not. Each for different self serving reasons, many of which we have read about here.
Most have weak minds and evidence and they are easily outstripped, by almost any sane, reasonable person. It is fairly easy to get a certain level of evidence, so easy they make shows about it with BoBos.
Can't think of one well known organization that is advanced in their knowledge or techniques (money another issue) over the many independant researchers.
Surviving the BF whetever for a decade is not evidence of competance, maybe evidence of an inability to learn, or of the Bfs ability to evade.
When a group makes a move to "TV" it pretty much indicates they are running on empty with no real evidence worthy of academia.
What makes the list of "credible" Bigfoot Groups? Why?

    1. Same question. Seniority does not equal legitimacy in bigfooting. Name some names on these established groups, I bet those that have been around a long time will wince and laugh at it.

    2. Bullshit! Doing a "credible investigation" costs cash like it or not. I think you are talking about BFRO. Please go to their website and copy and paste all the bashing they're supposedly doing. We'll wait.... Just more jealousy and infighting that is typical in this community.

  3. What groups are you talking about? Why should anyone trust yet anouther new group that you propose ?

Sounds more like the commititee for Egosentric Bullshiters to me.

  6. Seriously ?

There are so many immature sniveling little groups out there that make up lies, propagate falsehoods, and generally just act like children. Try getting the AZCRO and MABRC to join forces. If they can do it there is hope for the rest of them.

    1. I was just Looking over there and there is a thread called commitee of bigfoot research associations (COBRA) and most have already Pooped on the whole idea . DOA!

  7. Fear not, Mr Fonner. Melba's growing and "enthusiastic" Bigfoot Protection group will assume national oversight once they file their 501(c)(3). Naturally, first revenues pay the Director and admin staff -- maybe you could apply for that position and make this work.

    1. 9 out of 10 will follow the smell of money. If Melba gets national "cred" and an audience, and then turns her efforts over to writing grants, I guarantee most groups will be kissing her... ring to snag a share of "research funding" for their areas.

    2. But it's the 10% who have funding now who will really rule the roost

  8. And who exactly the fuck are these people?

The BFRO - in it for the money.
MABRC - Self righteous grand standing twats who have hoaxed for years and see squatchy every tree, not credible
ABS - The new Squatchy MacCarthy wannabes, carpetbagging conference profiteers and copyright abusers led by the Noll-Hole?

Sanctimonius Billy Willard and his deciphles?

    The Dyer-Fasano connection?

Are these the douch bags who would set the rules?

    try harder....

    2. Exactly, 8:37. Which is why a "compassionate" Melba Ketchum can, and probably will, fill that void.

    3. You miss the point it wont happen. Given the douches who have tried in the past and those who would now you don't have a lot to pick from. If you people are willing to settle for what's out there nothing will get solved.

Mabrc are self righteous asses. The abs is a cult as is the Willard camp and they and the others just want to cash in. And you know it.

  11. National Bigfoot Day should recognize that Bigfoot is about as tall as David Spade, has small little puppy feet, and bony girl arms... certainly nothing to fear. Bigfoot is obviously the weakest of the so called "Great" apes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. theres already enough bigfoot groups, organisations, projects, quests, reports etc already managing to do anything but prove bigfoot.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Has anyone heard the stories about Bigfoot that are short and without large feet? The creature evidently is still ape-like and very hairy but unlikely to be considered powerful or threatening. Probably a tuber grazer who hides out in fear of man who could easily overpower a creature that's so short and weak. Is any of this true I wonder?

    ReplyDelete
  14. For all those defending the mabrc and their equivalent, you are the problem and YOU are why squatchy has nothing to worry about. How fucking stupid can you be?

Getting approved by or banned by web forums doesnt matter, if the creature exists its in the wood not on some stupid fucking forum.

All on the online crap is just a junior high level popularity contest. And just as stupid. Are these the idiots who will set the rules? Please.....

    2. That sounds like the Original 6 deal that was tried a few years ago. They would decide who was good and bad and who got the cookies. Heard of em? Worked real well.

    3. They were a joke and part of a mabrc agenda, they were the front group.

  17. No Group has found anything of worth. No individual or group can prove anything of worth. No one should be criticizing anyone else. We all suck.
