Thermal Experiment Teaches You The Capabilities Of Your Thermal Camera
Watch this interesting FLIR thermal experiment by Bart Cutino (BFRO) and Ranger Robert Leiterman (Olympic Project). Like most people, Bigfoot researchers tend to disagree on a lot of things. One of the things that comes up is about the visual capabilities of their thermal units. Bart and Robert decided to set the record straight by documenting what they look like on the FLIR Thermal camera without their shirts on.

With the help of fellow WA BFRO & Olympic Project members, Bart Cutino and Ranger Robert Leiterman conduct a black & white handheld thermal experiment in the Northern Cascades, WA state. The use of proprietary thermal units as a visual documentation research tool in the bigfoot field has drawn much speculation about both capabilities and what you "can" and "can't" discern. Our goal as researchers was to set the standard and end that speculation by creating a field of 20-90 yards (10 yd increments) and recording ourselves "clothed" & "unclothed" with brief pauses, using a FLIR H-Series unit (operated by Kirk Brandenburg). As the use of thermal units becomes more commonplace in an ever-changing research arena, our hope is that this experiment will provide our peers with proper expectations for evaluation of future visual documentations with thermal.

ReplyDeleteIt should be noted that if your IR camera has brightness and contract functions they should be adjusted prior to field usage so you can pick out details. If you do not do this you may just end up with a bright white blobsquatch. Some of the detail can be seen in the video, with the guy wearing the jacket, but these systems can be tweaked for much more detail.
ReplyDeleteThis thermal video was recorded with a FLIR HS-324 thermal imager recording to the onboard SD card. The HS-324 records video at 30 frames per second and is no longer available to the public due to Homeland Security restricting it for only law enforcement.
DeleteThe HS-324 views and records at the highest resolution available to the public and self adjusts brightness and contrast automatically. Outside of the military, you will not find a better or clearer thermal video image than this one.

It might not be evidence for skeptics, but it would be useful for knowing where to go should you get a hit.

Although i believe neither of you is an biologist or anthropologist ...sorry if i got that wrong... it's pretty apparent you guys are extremely knowledgeable, complement each other well and make those of us who merely follow the subject for yrs from "behind our computer" have some hope for eventul verification. just want you guys to know i follow your work and appreciate it; especially with so much thats negative and bad in bigfooting....too much infighting around here
